This restaurant has closed down. Open Table wasted my time by having it in its list, confirming my reservation & sending me a text message two days before the reservation to reconfirm it.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, CONSIDERING THE RESTAURANT IS OUT OF BUSINESS.
MUCH BETTER THAN SOME SAN FRANCISCO RESTAURANTS THAT WERE OPENED JULY 4TH?
I was very disappointed that the res
Closed for the 4th of July. Why would you still allow reservations if you’re closed???
IT WAS CLOSED!! SO ANGRY SINCE WE HAD TO PAY AN EXPENSIVE UBER TO GET THERE!!!!!
This restaurant is now closed
This restaurant has been closed down, as of the date of my reservation on Friday, June 7, due to health inspection violations!! I do not know why it is still listed here and how or why they played it off as if I actually was able to complete my reservation. They need to be removed.
Came here for weekday breakfast with a friend as it’s impossible to weekend brunch due to the lines. I was pretty disappointed ... we each got quiches which were soggy (I know it’s not fair to compare to Tartine quiche - gold standard!) and I couldn’t even finish eating it it was so unappetizing. Also ordered pastries as that’s what they make in house ... blueberry muffin was fluffy and truly the only delicious item we ordered ... cinnamon
Bun felt stale and was loaded with raisins (hate raisins!) and really felt more like a bear claw or Danish than a cinnamon bun or roll. We took two bites and left it. Coffee was so so ... there is SO much good local coffee in SF it would have been nice to have something local offered, French press or pour over style instead of diner coffee that’s been sitting in the reheater. Server was sweet and attentive (hooray and points for that), but the overall restaurant is looking pretty tattered and dirty. Sadly, I’m done w Mission Beach - there are too many other good options in the Mission.
We made a reservation on Open Table but then arrived and the host told us they couldn't access the reservations and we had to wait about 15 min for a table. The table was crammed between two others and the service was really slow. Food was a little overpriced for the quality and quantity.
This was a good restaurant, but no longer. We should have turned around and run, not walked out, when we were greeted by a surly waiter that proceeded to seat us near the bathroom in an empty restaurant. Everything got worse from there. The food was just dead and grey. What a horrible experience.
Nice place for dinner. We went early and it was not crowded, food was great, fast service.
Food was awesome
This is my parents first time trying brunch in America. They really enjoyed it and the truffle fries were so so great.
Willing to come visit again
The french toast was amazing! My friends who ordered the benedict and avocado toast enjoyed their meals as well. Highly recommended.
They are very accommodating, great service, and the most amazing eggs Benedict
Food & ambiance are excellent...would not hesitate to return.
Awesome food, great casual and cozy ambient, at reasonable price in the heart of SF
Food is too complicated and the three menu items we had really didn’t work. Too many ingredients that end up in a mishmash. Had to send cold french fries back.
First off, I just love when someone meets you at the door points to a table and doesn't even as if you have a reservation or not. It was Christmas Eve and you would think they would be a little more friendly. We were a part of 4 and we basically had to pick our table.
Waited for a very long time for the server to arrive. When he finally did, I asked about something on the menu and he started telling me that he is a server at another place near by and how there item I asked about was better. Gee, great up selling.
When we finally ordered, then we waited and waited and waited for our dinner to arrive. Still the tall guy with a beard and beanie who we first met as we came in, never left behind the counter to check on tables. He just kept going in and out of the kitchen. And our poor server to his credit had all the table and no help. I could go on, but why, you get the point.
For me, I will not gi back there again. Maybe they had an off night, but all the years I have worked in food establishments, you should always be prepared for the holiday diners!....
Menu was eclectic with choices for nearly everyone. I ordered a beet and mango salad that was very good, even though some of the mango slices were a bit tough. Main course was a beef pot pie that came with another salad. I wish I had known that so I wouldn’t have ordered the first salad. I had ordered a chicken pot pie but was served the beef. Because it was Christmas Eve I just let it go. Staff was rushed and bare bones. It’s a great neighborhood eatery with fresh, tasty food. Not sure I would make a special trip to eat there though.
Muy buen sitio para desayuno/brunch. Carta extensa y buena comida a precios razonables.
Not sure what has happened, but Mission Beach Cafe use to be a fantastic restaurant. They use to have the best burger in town! Sadly, not anymore. The food was mediocre at best and they really need to invest some money into repairs and maintenance of their restaurant. The tables/chairs look worn out and the bathroom could use a coat of paint. Unfortunately, the whole experience was sad. I understand they have a really great brunch, but I wouldn’t coke back for dinner again.
Great evening with friendly and personable service. Food was delicious and wine selections were inviting.
Best French Toast in the world! And the Giant Mimosas are wonderful! Can’t wait to go back.
The restaurant was empty (only one other table the entire night), probably because it was the weekend after Thanksgiving. The truffle fries and lamb were delicious but the Brussels sprouts were not that great - sauce was meh. Loved the service! Would love to go back for brunch as I’ve heard great things!
The food is excellent, as is the service. However, the two times I’ve tried to make a reservation here for dinner, Open Tabke gave me two choices (5:30 and 9:30] on a Saturday night even with three or four days’ notice. The place was empty last Saturday night and that should not be as the food is excellent.
Dinner with friends and MBC never disappoints. Ravioli, scallops, rabbit pie and seafood stew were all wonderful. Service was pleasant and attentive. Pies were delicious as always.
The food, service etc. was fine, no real complaints although it was nothing special. I was really disappointed that the menu on the website isn't the same as the menu they're serving at the moment - I had chosen to visit here for one specific (vegan) item on the menu that wasn't on the menu anymore (and I asked they couldn't do it) and there was actually only one single vegan option on the menu which was a healthy veg filled option, when I was really looking for a treat... like the non vegan options (or the vegan options on the old menu)...
All the breakfast dishes we got were great - best egg benedict ever (with crab and artichokes)
I have been going to Mission Beach for quite a while, mostly for lunch. It can be VERY busy at lunchtime and it is utterly crazy at the weekends for brunch.
We went for dinner on a Tuesday night, the place was quiet and the food good. It is so, so difficult to find a quite place for dinner.
Wine list was good, menu was good too. We shall return on Tuesday nights. Please don't come on a Tuesday night because you will spoil it for us!
Great rabbit pot pie. Savy bits of rabbit with a super yummy flaky crust.
Outstanding meal. Fabulous waitress.. loved being there..
Wonderful brunch in the heart of the Mission. They have a half Benedict option where you can pick one type of Benedict and then get two additional sides like avo toast, potato salad, roasted potatoes, side salad, biscuits, etc etc. perfect for a hungry gal who can’t decide on just one dish! The location is also perfect to spend the morning/afternoon around the Mission and Dolores Park afterwards. Highly recommend! Also very friendly, kind, attentive staff
This was our second time here, and MBC did not disappoint! Attentive and friendly service, good espresso and coffee, delicious meal. My husband loves their bacon, which is why we came here for our anniversary brunch. We’ll be back!
We have been to MBC before, but not for quite a while, and when we got halfway through this meal, we were asking ourselves, "Why don't we come here more often?"
Our food was excellent — we started with the delicious roasted Brussel sprouts. My partner had the king salmon, which I tried and was very tasty. I don't often order red meat, but I had the petit filet, and I have to say, it was one of the best I have ever eaten. Practically melted in my mouth, perfectly cooked, with a delicious mushroom sauce. I had a very nice wine, fairly priced as was the entirety of the meal. When our server came back and asked if I'd like another glass of wine, I asked if there was any chance I could get just half a glass, and she kindly indulged me. I love it when a restaurant will do that, as another full glass is often a bit more than I want (or need!)
Our server was an absolutely delightful and personable young woman who made the meal even better, putting us in a good mood from the moment we walked in the door. We'll be back!
Great place to kickback and have a relaxed meal. Service staff very friendly and gets it right. Awesome neighborhood gem.
Absolutely love this place. Consistently good, elegant and unpretentious.
Decent food and drinks but service was the worst I have seen in a long time, at any place whatsoever. Everything took forever and the waiter was either just lying to us on multiple occasions, or was really clumsy. Who knows...
The server was welcoming, good range of choices for lunch, delicious eggs benedict. The music was a little loud and the server turned it down at our request. It was a Tuesday and we didn't feel rushed. I wouldn't go during peak weekend brunch hours as there's often a wait.
