This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown Minneapolis. I have never been disappointed. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend for lunch, happy hour, dinner or late night.

Like many of the Downtown restaurants they all want to get to the $100 price point for dinner whether it deserves it or not. When an appetizer, a side order of asparagus, one entrée and two glasses of wine comes to a hundred bucks. That's ridiculous! They also promote validated parking for the IDS. The waitress said when you come back for Desert we can take care of it. The play went until 10:30 the restaurant closed at 10 so much for that. Next time I will fix a wonderful dinner at home for my spouse and save 50 bucks.

I was catching up with a three of my former staff now retired and had the best visit. We weren't rushed, the place was quite so we could hear each other talking. Food was great. Our waiter was exceptional!

Unfortunately the food at Mission American Kitchen was way below standard. I ordered Guinness braised short ribs and they were so dry I could not eat it. I make much better short ribs. I don't know how my friends' meals tasted, but no one commented that their food was good or bad. Disappointing meal but the ambiance and the service was great.

My Mission roll and Ahi Tuna were very good. My husband didn't think his rock shrimp had a lot of flavor. Creme brûlée was good but not great. Service was very good.

Meal was excellent. We didn't feel rushed at all even though we took two hours for our business lunch. Service was great, food was delicious, my only complaint is that it was pretty loud and a bit hard to hear each other, but other than that, it was great.

Reservations are treated well. Good service, although the hamburger one of our party ordered was not cooked as ordered. They were accommodating about substitutions.

I've been here twice in the past four months - both times I've been here the food has been average, I tried two different items and my guests did also. Each time we both agreed that the food is fine, but that's it. Better places downtown to have a business lunch.

Beet salad was great, tuna also very good bur rice cake with it was quite chewy. Wife had crab cakes which she said were great. Service very friendly, but slow pre U2 concert. They warned us when we arrived, so was not a surprise. Ambiance nice but nothing special or particularly unique. Good for business lunch or dinner.

First time visitor to Minneapolis on business. I had dinner in three different restaurants. Mission would've been the weakest of the three.
Really liked the Korean barbecue rib appetizer and the deviled eggs. Had the Halibut on the menu, it was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because I noticed the head chef hanging around the hostess station, and sitting at the bar the entire time we were there. I thought it really showed horribly. Had a chocolate cake for dessert that was awful. They apologized and took it off the bill.
With so many fine dining choices in Minneapolis, this restaurant has to try a lot harder to win their share of business. They were not very busy, compared to the other two restaurants I had been to during my stay.

Service and hostess were weak. Hostess left us at bar when we had gotten there early, and we had let her know that we wanted to have dinner, and she stated service didn't start until 5PM. We had to get her for a table after 5. Odd. Never once did she or waiter ask how any thing was. Place was quiet.
Food was decent, however.

My food was served cold. I sent it back.
It was not well seasoned.
There were a great deal of flies present.
The service was great, but very slow and it seemed unconscionably slow given that the restaurant was empty.
It is only good for appetizers and drinks.

We have had better dinners at Mission before but this one was only so so. While the food was excellent as always, the service was poor. This was before the Billy Joel concert at Target Field and the management must have been caught unaware. Service was grindingly slow and there was seeming no one running the floor to ensure customers were being taken care of. Overall, I would reconsider dining at Mission before an event again.

Special was very good: Mahi Mahi fish tacos. Another dish was a classic but not good this time: fish n chips. it was burned and the basket it was served in was very small and therefore difficult to eat.

We will definitely be back even though our first experience was interesting. Maybe we just looked young which skewed the service but the food was really good. Walleye was a bit smothered in butter but brie appetizer was delicious as was the scallops. Will definitely give it another chance but may stay in our business attire to see of the service impeoves .

We had a nice quiet booth perfect for our date! The wine list is terrific, wines for all tastes. The service was exceptional and all the courses served in a timely manner. The appetizers and dinners were beautifully "designed" on the plates and tasted fabulous! We had a great dining experience and our first time at Mission American Kitchen.

Really uninspired food. The filet mignon was charred and overlooked. The veggies were soggy and tasteless. Pork tenderloin just a soft, fairly tasteless meat that seemed. Ore suited to a school cafeteria.

On the plus side, the waitstaff were really friendly and attentive, and the wine selection was small but thoughtful.

Positive: Good location, great people watching. Negative: kitchen VERY slow! Our server, Sierra, was excellent but she doesn't control how fast the food is cooked. Good thing we allowed lots of time before our concert.

Better choices in Minneapolis. The seared ahi was pre-made and room temp. The cauliflower puree that it came on was good. But overall it was bland and not hot off the grill. The scallops were average. The pancetta was more like ham. The halibut well cooked, but bland. The sucotash was flavorful. Decided not to have dessert since the meal was less than desirerable. The silver lining is that bottles of wine are half price on Saturdays. Go elsewhere. Felt like hotel food at best.
