Ordered walleye for dinner, at waitress’ recommendation. It was over cooked, dry and tasteless. The bean and carrot mix that came along side was undercooked. A most disappointing dinner, for $28. I regret not sending it back. (The beet/goat cheese salad was v good)
This was an excellent location with close parking. Beautiful ambiance, well decorated and comfortable. Unusual menu selections with interesting wine parings. Excellent service but not intrusive. Upscale without being over priced.
Went for a business lunch. Sandwiches were mediocre for the price. The tables were pretty close to each other so its hard to maneuver from the table to the bathroom and back. It wasn't a bad experience, it was just mediocre.
It was our first visit to Mission American after attending a play at the Orpheum. We are season ticket holders and like to try a different restaurant after each play. All of us thought
the food was excellent...from a vegetarian to a beef eater. On a Saturday evening we enjoyed half-priced wine bottles! Tried 3 different desserts which were so very delicious.
But what added to our enjoyment, was the service we received from Will which was OUTSTANDING. We definitely will return and highly recommend Mission American Kitchen & Bar.
The food was just okay. Appetizers were pretty good but my prime rib was chewier and tougher than good prime rib should be and the mashed potatoes were quite bland. The cake we ordered for dessert was very blah. Service was good.
Thank you for honoring my request for a quite space as several of us met up with some retired co-workers. It was nice to be able to hear each other during our socialization.
The menu had a nice selection on it. I ordered the prime rib, but it was very bland. The waitperson was attentive and the atmosphere was fine.
Had the lunch fish special, blackened cod with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was perfectly prepared and tasted great. Hard to choose between this, the Ahi Burger and luncheon omelet. This is a great business lunch spot and also has a fantastic happy hour.
As always, good and service was superb!
Although they may need to consider a role just for the host as I waited several minutes waiting for someone to greet and seat me for my reservation!
Otherwise great experience!
Had a terrible at Jacques for drinks (Marquette Hotel) so decided to try Mission rather than spending our money where were treated terribly. We sat at the bar and William was great, he was engaging, friendly, and made a great drink. Our party of 4 spent about 2 hours trying various drinks before we sat for dinner. The food was amazing the young lady that waited on us was wonderful too. Try Mission, you won't regret it.
Terrible “white cheddar stuffed burger” — stale bun, no seasoning, no taste, mediocre fries — all for only $16?! What a waste of money. My guest ordered her burger cooked “medium” and half of it was rare. Yuck. Will never return.
Great spot for lunch during the work day...owner is an outstanding host and service is ALWAYS personal and impeccable!
Great food, fast service! The daily omelet was fantastic.
My wife and I both had the prime rib. It was excellent. In the past I have had the Short Ribs. they are always excellent.
I was so disappointed about every aspect of this restaurant. The food was no better than an Appleby's. Really bad. Really overpriced. Sorry, I've never given a bad review here or on Yelp before but this just had to be said.
Service was slow and indifferent. Wines overly expensive. Beef brisket was dry and stringy. At this price point, I expected better.
I went here for Valentine’s Day, and the food was great, I had the beet and goat cheese salad and my boyfriend has the prime rib. For dessert, I had a creme brûlée, it was amazing!
Ceasar was good.
Rissotto was absolute mush, rice baby food.
Zero flavor in the Mac and Cheese.
Green beans still all had stems and strings.
had a casual business lunch with 5 people. excellent service by not just our waiter but multiple other service providers like the host and manager. everyone left there so impressed and had a great time! waiter was very knowledgeable and enjoyed his sense of humor.
We lived our dining experience here. Good, attentive service and really good food with a good variety. Dinner was a good end to the day. Will eat here again.
We stopped in for dinner prior to the Super Bowl festivities on Nicollet mall. We had a lovely meal and great wine. I had the chicken with spaghetti squash and it was REALLY flavorful. Loved it! Our server was very friendly but maybe new, or just too busy as he wasn't super attentive. It was all ok though, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back for another meal and/or drink.
We had never dined at Mission before and were kind of disappointed. Other than my husband's order of Halibut, the other three meals at the table were bland (2 orders of prime rib and one filet). The service was excellent though and the location was great as we were staying at the Marquette Hotel. I would not recommend this to a friend.
Service is always impeccable, we have had the same waiter (wish I had his name) the last two lunches and he is brilliant; has a great sense of humour and the right amount of attention. Due to flight schedules we were running behind, but they were able to get us in and food out quickly. The food was great as always and we will be back in a few weeks for our next lunch meeting.
We had a great time! Delicious food, good people watching and terrific service.
Good as always!
Super quiet when we were there the Saturday before New Years. Truffle Cream Cheese wontons were great. Ahi Tuna appetizer was not. Entrees were particularly good!
We had a great meal. Everyone in the group enjoyed their entree!
Seamless reservation w/ open table, which is a massive benefit. No time wasted with looking up name, details, etc. I made the res perhaps 30 min before arriving. I was seated a few min before my res, a few min before noon on weekday. I noticed that the line to be seated populated quickly around noon. We were in a small booth in the bar area. Nice light, not loud. I could hear fine, which was great, because noise is a big issue for me. Meal was fine. We were served quickly, and my colleague was directed to me as soon as he arrived. Server was quick and professional. Couldn't have asked for better. The light of the windows in the bar area was a nice plus.
The Mission Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis always provides a great meal and service. It's great to go before a sporting event or the theatre. The food is spectacular, try the pork tenderloin. The service is always courteous, knowledgeable and friendly.
Service was excellent, food server paid the perfect amount of attention to table. He knew when to clear the plates and anticipated refills on drinks and good follow up to make sure we were enjoying our meal.
Very courteous staff, food was good and enjoyed the service we inside, outside was noisy due to Christmas Carols
Stopped by for appetizers before a show and found the ambiance to be nice, the food very good, and the service also good. The location was great for a short walk to the Target Center. The maitre-d was often visible and made at least one pass to make sure we were doing well. We were pretty wrapped up in conversation, but everything seemed quite nice, tasteful, and tasty.
We were a little behind the 8 ball getting a reservation for this night, so we found what was available. I think I know why it was available. Our reservation was for 5pm. There was only 1 other table of guests in the dining room. That maybe should have been our hint. The food was mediocre. The scallops appetizer was very good. I would recommend that. Everything else was under seasoned or totally flavorless. The service was good. Even by 6pm there were only a few tables of guests on a Friday night.
Though there have been some changes, still a good option for downtown lunch dining
The food is always Excellent. What more can I say?
This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown Minneapolis. I have never been disappointed. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend for lunch, happy hour, dinner or late night.
Like many of the Downtown restaurants they all want to get to the $100 price point for dinner whether it deserves it or not. When an appetizer, a side order of asparagus, one entrée and two glasses of wine comes to a hundred bucks. That's ridiculous! They also promote validated parking for the IDS. The waitress said when you come back for Desert we can take care of it. The play went until 10:30 the restaurant closed at 10 so much for that. Next time I will fix a wonderful dinner at home for my spouse and save 50 bucks.
