Unfortunately the main dinning hall was extremely loud and it was very hard to have a conversation with others at the table. I had asked specifically for a window table. We were not originally seated in one and had to ask to be moved. Also, mentioned it was a birthday celebration, but there was nothing specific done to acknowledge it. The Sunday Brunch offerings was impressive, something for everyone.
THE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL, THE WAIT STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE ATMOSPHERE IS PERFECT ALL AND ALL A GREAT SELECTION TO TAKE SOMEONE TO EAT ...SATURDAY BRUNCH WAS WONDERFUL.................MICHAEL T. TURNER
After seeing this place for so many years I was excited about finallly having the opportunity to make brunch. I was thoroughly disappointed. They served a crab soup that had beans in it that I could not even identify. I am assuming they were beans. Nothing appeared to be fresh to me. Even the waffle batter tasted old. Needless to say I will not be going back nor will I ever recommend Mrs' k's Toll House to anyone. The service was much better that the food
Service staf was very pleasant but needs to be trained. We had been given two extremely dirty forks/cava was flat and warm/plates were missing/order mixed up and food items missing. Replacements came at the end of the meal. Value to quality was disappointing
Will not return
I have been to Mrs. K numerous amount of times over the years and the food quality this time was not up to par. The crabcakes didn’t taste like they were fresh crabmeat and the relish they served with it was extremely mustardy and overpowered crabcakes. The scallops were Very good.
Had been a while since visiting, was pleasantly surprised how improved the restaurant was and the quality of the food, while not bad before was very good on this visit . Will return for another visit.
Good place for business lunch or special occasion
Excellent service. Even though it was past closing time there was no pressure to rush or to leave. Great place for a special occasion.
The rustic and historical charm, lavish outdoor garden terrace, combined with the regional seafood and standard hearty beef, lamb, and poultry fare of Mrs. K's Tollhouse offer the perfect setting for fine dining.
It is reminiscent of of the Inns and Taverns along unpaved roads where weary travelits would gather around the fireplace and have a great meal before continuing on their journey.
I grew up in a house that was built in the 18th Century in Hopkinton, Massachusetts with four fireplaces and attached carriage house. My parents brought us out to dinner to many restaurants throughout New England, The Old Mill (Westminster, Ma), Wayside Inn (Sudbury, MA), The Lord Cromwell (Cromwell, Connecticut), and (Ringe, NH).
Mrs. K'S ranks among one of the nation's best in my book!⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mrs. K’s was very accommodating. My party arrived one hour early prior to our reservation time, but, they were ready for us! They didn’t even blink. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Loved the atmosphere, however, I think there could have been one less table in my area. The table behind ours was too close and there was very little room to walk to and from the buffet. Other thank that, I have no complaints!
First, a brunch buffet this large is bound to have a few issues. For instance, some of the items on the serve hot items were were cold. One was the sausage. The roast beef was pretty good. Oysters wonderful! The Eggs Benedict...get'm right when they are just brought out. I ate the Smoked Salmon Benedict! Delicious! I am delighted with the small waffles. The fruit was not ripe. You see...there is a good deal to pick from. I didn't even scratch the surface. Next time I'm definitely going to get an omelet. Yes, we will return.
I love Mrs. K’s. They didn’t have the curried Lamb that I wanted, but it was still delicious. The main dining area can be somewhat packed closely together, making it hard to move around, but an A-1 restaurant. Oh yeah, give the person who came up with “bottomless strawberry mimosas “ a RAISE!
I was really excited to try Mrs. K but was really disappointed in the food. The quality was eh. For $37.95/pp it was way too much for cold, unappetizing looking good. The oysters look questionable which is what I was really excited for. The prime rib was probably the best thing I ate. When I went to have dessert, the sauce for the bread pudding was solidified. Just overall not worth the money.
My family was at Mrs Kays for a birthday celebration at Brunch. We were seated down stair, which consisted of dark, musky, and arcade furniture. But the worst thing about the Sunday brunch was the food; cold and unappetizing. The check was brought to our table and we felt like they were kicking us out( we were there for 1.25 hours). Also, I ordered a cake for the celebration, but no one knew what I was talking about. This will be my last visit at Mrs. Kays.
Being a chef and wanted to stop by for years at your establishment, with my son which is a foodie too and his girlfriend.
We were all disappointed.
From the hollandaise sauce, and untoasted muffins with the egg Benedict.
Smoked salmon didn’t taste fresh.
Prime rib was superb!!!!
I tried all sides and was not a fan.
Salmon station.... Way overcooked and dry.
And were charged $3.50 for tea. Really?
There is a lot of improvement to be made to success.
I know you have been there for ever, but it is time for a change and upgrade!

We were at Mrs. Kay's for a birthday brunch on a Saturday. Our view of the blooming garden was a bonus. Entrees (luncheon salads) were delicious and nicely presented. Birthday surprise - a square of bread pudding with candle, presented on a platter with Happy Birthday written on it - was a hit. Altogether nice experience, though the dining room was a bit loud during peak.
Service was great, and the food was delicious. Fun atmosphere in the lower level which had live entertainment and a fun, lively atmosphere.
An old friend and I try to meet seasonally for lunch and this was our Spring pick. It had been many years (over 25,) since each of us had been there, we were prepared for the stiff, rather formal atmosphere offering average food but pretty rooms and lovely gardens that we knew from the past. Things have changed at Mrs. K’s. Due to our slow-to- arrive Spring, the gardens weren’t quite ready, but the kitchen certainly was. Seated by a garden view table, our attentive, excellent waiter guided us to order the halibut special which was absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly done and served atop some roasted potatoes and other vegetables surrounded by a gentle sweet red pepper sauce which we could incorporate or not. Fresh warm rolls and quietly refilled beverages appeared without asking. A very good Key lime pie was our shared dessert accompanied item by coffee. We peeked around us at what other diners were eating and everything looked well prepared and enticing.
We will definitely return and I encourage people who have not been there in years to give it another go.
Great Service! My Waiter Ty was awesome. He helped with really good suggestions which were all tasty. I started with ya Beet Salad which was really good and fresh.. Followed up by an AWESOME fried oyster appetizer. That rocked!! Dinner was awesome as well. I had the Duck as he suggested. It was really good. It is cooked differently than the description in the menu but was really good the new way. The desert was a homemade bread pudding. I got this to go, but made a great breakfast with my coffee this morning. Great place for you to visit if you are in the area.
Great brunch! Really fantastic selection.
Went for brunch and had a great time. The food was really good, but wish there was more to choose from. You could get a little taste of everything with two plates. However, the crab legs were a great choice. The bottomless mimosas made the brunch even better. The staff was efficient and friendly. The landscape is gorgeous. Would definitely make plans to go back again.
It's too crowded. Pay too much money to eat and you can barely be able to get out your chair without hitting people at the next table.
Brunch buffet options were top notch from king crab legs to oysters on the half shell to eggs benedict and bbq ribs just to name a few everything was GREAT!
Service was fantastic as well - I highly recommend!
The food and service was superb. I would definitely dine there again.
As usual the food and service at Mrs. Ks was superb. Perhaps that is the reason they have been in business for so many years.
Nice evening with elderly family friends. The low noise level allowed for conversation between 4 people. Menu provides both food and price alternatives. (The downstairs wine bar are not included in these comments)
I dined here on Easter Saturday for lunch with 3 nieces, aged 7 to 34. The prix fixe menu had great choices for the adults and the kids menu for the youngest. At $30 for a starter, main, dessert and mimosa (a couple of other choices), the price was a value for the quality and service received.
Especially notable: the bread basket, wit churros and tiny corn muffins, the crab cake main dish, and the chicken lettuce wraps.
An added bonus was lovely grounds for some spectacular photos.
Order the lamb chops and halibut. Chef cooked both perfectly! Also had the blood orange martini and it was delicious!
Lovely venue for a happy hour round of drinks or more extensive dinner. Had a business meeting that started out as a round of drinks, but we liked it so much that we stayed for a full dinner. Happy hour snacks are tasty, but we opted for better wines than the Canyon Ranch they offer at HH. The Cab Franc Rose was a pleasant surprise. Best part is the ambiance. Recommended
This was my second time and I must say the Pot-stickers are the most amazing thing I have every had. I enjoyed my entree as well, but the app was the highlight. the service was impeccable and the ambiance of the entire restaurant is beautiful.
We met old friends for brunch. We remembered Mrs K's from "old times" - we were last there 50 years ago.. The restaurant is quaint and more then a little time-worn. There was a huge buffet at a fairly high price. I didn't have an omelet, but others said they were good. You don't often see oysters on a half shell at a buffet. These were ok, but really badly shucked. The roast beef was reasonably good and nicely sliced. Smoked salmon was excellent, but the baked salmon was tasteless. Deserts were uniformly disappointing. The place was packed, so obviously it retains a level of popularity. We won't be back for another 50 years (at least for the brunch).
Sunday brunch was fantastic! Food was delicious; lots of variety with omelets and waffles made to order; crab legs, shrimp cocktail, oyster bar and delicious fruit, desserts, and pastries.
Buffet included a glass of mimosa or a bloody mary. Service was great and ambiance very nice. Ask for the "garden" room which is very open and very inviting!
Great customer service and good food. Love the atmosphere
Great space and good food with very pleasant staff.
I’m never disappointed. I would love to see more brunch items added to the menu but still, never disappointed.
The appetizers and drinks were very good. My husband and I both ordered rib eye steaks and they were not good. They were tough and his was cooked more than medium. Also, he had to send his coffee back because it was cold. We have always enjoyed this restaurant in the past and were disappointed this time.
I met a colleague for a business lunch and enjoyed this restaurant immensely. I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.
Came for lunch with friends. We stayed for a long time after we ate with no problems. The food was very good. Gave it four stars because I wads sorry that I did not order my lamb rare. Medium rare turned out to be cooked more than I wanted. This is a common problem with lamb. But unlike beef, lamb is very forgiving. It still tasted good. Key lime pie was tart which is as it should be. For me, this has become a go-to place for lunch.
I have been to Mrs. K's for special occasions several times over a 20-year period. The food is consistently good (especially the mussels, lamb chops, and salmon). The selection of wines is excellent. The dessert menu is a little limited and the flourless chocolate cake I had was hard (perhaps was frozen and not defrosted?). The hostess and waitress were very friendly, though the hostess wore sneakers which made the restaurant feel more casual. Plus they have now introduced some sandwich entrees on the menu, which attracts more casual diners (some guests were wearing jeans). My one big complaint is that the décor/setting has grown shabby over the years. We were seated in the front room, and it really needs some sprucing up! We'll probably return again in the future, but think twice when it's a special occasion and we want something more formal.
Took my husband for his birthday. We went early, so it was quiet and the fireplace was going which only added to the atmosphere. The waiter was great and so was the food!
