Great! The waiter was a little inexperienced and we had to look for him at times. He did not want to allow any substitutions on the menu, such as a vegetable for a potato until we insisted.
Too crazy at brunch. Seating is an inefficient mess. They cater to big parties, which is fine, but I had a reservation on Open Table for myself and my 6 year old son. The hostess said they didn't take reservations for brunch and took 15 minutes to seat us at a 6-person table!
Food had no taste. Was honestly looking forward to coming here. I’ve been here before just a few months ago and there was way more options and the food good. I brought a friend to try for the first time and it was embarrassing. My waiter barely checked on us. The assistants were very helpful. Won’t be back
My family and I used to come here regularly for brunch but I hadn’t been in a while. For the first time ever I sat in the cellar, which was really nice. I liked that they had a second buffet set up on that level so we didn’t have to go up/down the stairs. The food could have been refreshed a little more often, but overall it came out in a reasonable time. We were not sitting in the main dining room so it was almost like they forgot about us. Our drinks went empty often (and i’d paid for unlimited mimosas) and it took forever to get the bill, but when they came around the staff was very nice, accommodating and professional. I also must say that one of the reasons I’d really enjoyed this brunch in the past was because I loved the food selection (more seafood than most brunches) and the bread pudding. However, they changed the bread pudding to something that was unrecognizable and in my opinion, not edible. The other desserts were very mediocre as well. That was a huge disappointment. But I love the charm of the place, the staff and the seafood selection, so I will return. But probably not as often as I’d previously liked to come.
We have lived in the area for quite some time and decided we should try this out, even though there were mixed reviews. We did the Sunday brunch buffet and were underwhelmed. Mediocre food, better service. I do not recommend the Sangria. Much better food in the area, however, if you've never been, try it out once.
Good food, service, nice location. Very happy with this place
Yes, the atmosphere was great! Food--had a pasta dish and it was great!
great ambiance and great food choices. lunch was a business meeting that the venue was very suited.
Tired decor; unimpressive, narrow menu variety; unimaginative presentation of dishes; over-priced. This place has appeal only to the traditionalist, geriatric set.
We were there for Sunday Brunch. Lots of food choices, but our waitress forgot to tell us that the oyster bar was downstairs. We did not realize oysters were available until after we were finished. I was surprised no plain juice was included with the price of the breakfast. Also some of the items were not replenished quickly. The strawberries by the waffles, the petit fours were either almost empty or not available for part of the time. However, the crab legs were good and the fried chicken. The waitress came by offer to clear and refill our coffee. It was nice to have a nice buffet with good food. We live in Columbia and wish there was a place like this there.
My favorite Brunch spot, I come here at least once a month!
Going to Mrs. K's is like being welcomed into a loving home (with great food).
In all fairness, we likely created most of the noise. We are lively debaters, and a cheerful family. Mrs. K's will become a new favorite brunch place for us.
My wife and I were married at Mrs. K's 14 years ago. Every year on our anniversary we go for dinner. We've always loved it. The food is always amazing, great service, great ambiance. It's something we look forward to every year. We are vegetarians and there are always 1-2 delicious options on the menu, such as cauliflower steak or polenta with mushrooms. This year the menu has changed and all vegetarian entrees have been removed. We asked if the chef could make something for us, even suggested the risotto which is on the lunch menu. The chef made us spaghetti with marinara and charged $24 for it. I'd happily pay $24 for something at Mrs. K's which is usually amazing food. But this was boring and bland and is something I would make at home when I don't want to spend time cooking. We were very disappointed with our meal. We love our tradition of going to Mrs. K's every year and so this was a very disappointing experience. All of the other food we ate was wonderful and the service was great, but I couldn't believe we at spaghetti with marinara at a fancy restaurant and paid $24 for it.
Mrs. Ks is a great local establishment that has a lot of old school charm. However, the food was just okay and not in line with the prices charged. It was fine dining prices for gastropub level of cuisine. If Mrs Ks is going to compete, it’s either going to have to up the quality of food or lower its prices.
Mrs K's is always a delight to dine at. Have used it for many years as venue for special occasions.
It was amazing experience!! Great service and friendly staff.
The salmon was delicious, cooked to perfection!
A wonderful brunch, per usual -- and a wonderful atmosphere to celebrate my birthday.
We were there at opening (10:30am) for Sunday Brunch. Unfortunately, they may have put some of the food out too early or did not light the burners because most of the food (scrambled eggs, grits, etc.) was cold, the crab legs and steamed shrimp were overcooked/cold as well. Everything else was great omelette station and waffle station. Service was definitely personable and polite.
I love this place
Love the food and service.
Mrs. K's Toll House is an outstanding restaurant, and I have dined there several times--not only for lunch, but also for dinner. The wait staff is highly attentive, and the food, of course, is wonderful. I highly recommend Mrs. K's Toll House.
Food was good but not even close to what I would expect for the price that was charged. I could get the same steak at any other 4-5 star restaurant for half the cost.
I would recommend the restaurant; however, I am not sure if I'll recommend a brunch. The restaurant was so over-crowded and the seating was so tight that in order for my 11-year-old to get in and out of her seat we had to move the table towards me a little. I am not even sure if they had exceeded fire code -- my guess is they were close to it if they hadn't.
I would recommend they have fewer tables on Sunday brunch so the people there can really enjoy themselves comfortably. I couldn't move in my seat either. I couldn't hear my mother-in-law who was seated right next to me because of the cacophonous sounds all around. Basically not a great experience and won't go for another brunch unless they get rid of all the extra seating.
A friend and I came for Sunday brunch. The hostess was polite. She sat us at the time of our reservation. We informed the waiter that we were first timers. He explained the brunch menu. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good except the eggs, they were cold. I am going to bring my family in the future.
We have been coming to Mrs. K's for years. Participating in their Sunday brunch was always a treat to look forward too. We had invited guests to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had an excellent server/bartender, Joshua. Great customer service and he was top notch. The quality of the food and presentation were below standard. In order to accommodate additional customers, additional tables were set up that increased the difficulty to get from our table to the buffet area. The cost is way too high for the lower standard of the brunch.
Although I would recommend brunch at Mrs. K's, it's more for nostalgic reasons than any other. My main complaint is the overcrowding. Our reservations were for 11. We arrived about 5 minutes early, as did about 30 others. We were all crowded into their very tiny waiting for about 20 minutes until we were seated.
While the food was good (but no bacon, even though it's listed in their online menu) many of the chafing dishes were empty so we either had to wait, do without or get back in line when they were refilled. Most of the food items were also unlabeled so it was a guessing game with some dishes. I love rare beef but the prime rib they served was just this side of raw. There was a lovely Smith Island cake on the dessert table but by the time we were ready for dessert, it was gone.
On the whole, I think it will be a while before I return to Mrs. K's for brunch.
There were limited food selections. What happened to the bacon and grits?
I would recommend the restaurant but with some reservations. I would tell friends to avoid the Sunday brunch and stick with dinner.
Not what it used to be. The buffet was not well attended to... food items dried out not replenished timely and very limited selections. I used to LOVE the buffet! Was not impressed this trip...
Cute restaurant. Food was good but could've been better if it was served warmer. Too loud. One and done kind of restaurant.
The Manager was dismissive of our complaints. The Hostess was rude and appeared to be selectively seating patrons. Although we had a reservation, we were told to wait and were only seated when we began to ask questions.
Great brunch spot. The menu always been on point.. if you want to treat yourself Mrs. K’s your go to!!!!
Great ambiance, fantastic service, nothing particularly special about the food though
We always enjoy meals at Mrs. K’s! It’s walking distance from our house, the food is good and the service is attentive. What more could you ask?
Wife’s birthday with family in from out of town.
It’s a great place for dinner. We lived the environment, and the food. The people are also super friendly.
The restaurant is very cozy but the food was not good.
It’s too expensive for small portions. Customer service okay.
