Food was excellent! Waiter was informative
Very attentive and friendly service. I like trying a sampling of dishes and was able to try/share a lot. Delicious half bottle of wine. Can't wait to return.
Great Israeli food! We wanted to find not your typical fare but close to the Barclay's Center. Great find! We all enjoyed our meal. The eggplant appetizer was fantastic! Service was great and very accommodating with my son in a wheelchair. Would definitely go back. Make a reservation!
My husband and I went to Miriam's before a concert at the Barclay Center. The food and service were superb. If only we lived in Brooklyn, we would definitely frequenting this restaurant.
we came to miriam's for a pre-concert dinner. The food was fabulous. Our waiter daniel was great. He made many recommendations and really took care of us. i can't wait to come back!!
Our table was ready on time. The wait staff was attentive and, when I requested advice, guided me to the couscous, which was absolutely delish. I enjoyed the sauvignon blanc. The good service continued throughout the meal. My dinner companions enjoyed their selections as well. The only thing slightly disappointing was the dessert. The baklava was not the traditional Greek style I prefer and the homemade ice cream was not as creamy as I had hoped. I would definitely go back!
Came here with friends. Food and service were great. A bit pricey but otherwise had a great time.
Delicious try the couscous! We also had cauliflower, meatballs, bourekas, and the most amazing halva mousse!
Super nice restaurant with great food. Very friendly waiter and they were quick with our service!
We were visiting Brooklyn and wanted a neighborhood restaurant. We were not disappointed. Delicious food, good service. It was a bit crowded and noisy, but fun atmosphere. We loved our dishes of couscous and grilled chicken. Also, they were careful with some food allergies.
Great time great service outstanding food . I had a surprise party at Miriam. This place is amazing.
Still a reliable place to get a table at the last minute on a Friday or Saturday night, but sadly the food and service have gone downhill. At the same time, prices have gone up! This used to be in my rotation, but I won't be going back.
Was visiting Israel a few months ago and had some wonderful food in Tel Aviv, so when we searched for a restaurant for a pre concert meal and found Miriam near the Barclay, we were eager to try it. Very glad we did. The location was perfect. The space was the perfect combination of Brooklyn and Tel Aviv. The food was as tasty as anything we had in Israel. And the staff was friendly and efficient--getting us served with plenty of time to make the show. We were there on New Years Eve, so the menu was prix fixed and limited, but we plan to return on a non-holiday to explore the full menu.
Loved the personal service and authentic, fresh food.
Love this unique Israeli North African menu! Meze is outstanding as is the wine list.
I enjoyed Miriam thoroughly, and so did everyone else in my group. There were nine of us there for dinner on a Friday evening. The table was all ready to go when I arrived, which was very pleasing to see. We aslo had plenty of space, due to the fact that the table was somewhat separate from the rest of the restaurant. We ordered some meze, which included falafel, hummus and roasted cauliflower. They were all excellent. The only thing that irked me a bit was that one piece of pita bread was served with the hummus. They eventually brought more, but I had to take points away for this error. It seemed as if there was a pita bread shortage that night, for whatever reason. I also feel that the wait staff could have come to the table a bit more often to check on us. Overall they did a pretty good job, but for a party of that size, we should have been more of a priority. Our entress were delicious as well, and we stayed there for most of the evening, and were not rushed out. I would definitely go back, and look forward to doing so.
Miriam's is a good place for Middle Eastern and Israeli cuisine. We went for a late night dinner, and ended up sharing a lot of appetizers, with a glass of wine. They were all very good. Service was competent and friendly. It was super convenient, as we were coming from an event at the Barclays arena. Just a few blocks away.
Great food, always a nice place for a meal. Really like all the vegetarian options. Excellent couscous.
Found this on a search for "best restaraurants near the Barclays." It did not disappoint. Warm greeting and table ready at time of reservation. Our server was AMAZING. Started with 3 Mezes (shrimp, goat cheese crostini and burekas) and we each had the cous cous. Portions were perfect. Very reasonably priced. We were not rushed. 5 minute walk to the Barclays. We were told they also do brunch. It was a little loud, but that did not detract from our amazing meal.
We had an excellent experience! The food was wonderful; the dishes were excellently prepared, often with an unusual twist. There was a great assortment of small plates (metze) as well as larger entrees, so we felt as if we had had a great variety of tastes when we were done. The service was communal, and everyone was very attentive. We lacked for nothing. We will certainly go back, and it is not even our neighborhood.
Very dark romantic setting. Quick service and attentive staff. Tried something on the menu but did not like it and they didn't charge me for it. Second time eating there and it was a great experience both times.
The service could have been better. I got the $25 Bronzino. It took a while to receive our orders. When it finally came my fish was pretty small and could have been fresher.
Had not been to Miriam in over two years. Did not realize how much we missed the fantastic food! We enjoyed everything we ordered; appetizers and entrees. Choice of wines also excellent; enjoyed a lovely Rosé. Our server was super-busy and yet outstanding. She engaged us in brief conversation, kept her smile and coordinated our meal very well. Thanks! We'll be back soon...
We went here prior to the Bette Midler concert on Mon. night. The middle eastern mezzes were wonderful! They each had a slightly different taste than I'm used to eating ..but much better than those I've eaten in Manhattan. The breast of chicken was succulent & the vegetables that came with them were so tasty. The Branzino was moist & well seasoned & came with roasted vegetables that were delicious. The only drawback was that our main courses were delayed for about 40 minutes. We felt that somehow they were overlooked in the kitchen. We would definitely go back..a very enjoyable meal & so affordable!!!
The servers were wonderful. The food just ok not great. Would not go back as there are many options before an event at Barclay's Center
Very good food and service. We decided to come here after we were made to wait at Convivum for 45 minutes with a reservation
Here we were able to get a quick reservation, got seated immediately and had a good meal with good service
We were so happy to find this place by chance after the terrible experience at Convivum
We used to really like Convivum but arrogance and taking guests for granted will eventually bring down the best of restaurants
Thank you Miriam for saving the night
Loved the food, but was not crazy about the noise.
It was a Friday night and there were several groups in the restaurant and we didn't want to sit near the loudest at the front. The host was very nice and seated us at a lovely table tucked in the back. It was still noisy but much more tolerable. We were the oldest people there and younger people might not mind the noise as much and enjoy the liveliness of the ambience.
This was the second time we had been there and I felt the menu had changed for the better!
The mezze appetizers were fun. Particularly tasty was the eggplant, but the 3 of us felt the cheese crostini was the best one.
We had 3 different dishes. Mine was the lamb chops with fab couscous. The chops were cooked exactly to my request and were very tender. My friend had the Bronzino over quinoa which was fresh and tasty. My boyfriend had the veg dish and enjoyed it a lot.
I had pistachio ice cream for desert and it was excellent.
I would try it again in the middle of the week and see if the noise level is as high.
The service was good as well.
Overall, interesting and good food and nice place!
We booked a table for dinner, but then decided to stay at the bar (my friend arrived before me and was waiting for me there). The wines were really good and their Hummus excellent! Fresh, home made, really really good. The bartender was amazingly friendly and new exactly what to serve us when we asked for specific tastes.
Overall, really great experience. We're going back next week!
I found this gem on Open Table and took my two 20 something daughters after the Nets game at Barclays. I travel a lot so eat at lots of good restaurants and the vibe at Miriam's is awesome. Laid back, Brooklyn casual. Nice small plates as well as full meals. Small plates we had the Spanakopita, Filo triangle, the meatballs, merguez, and roasted cauliflower. For entrees I had the Couscous with Branzino, and my daughters had the Paella and Branzino entree. Everything fantastically prepared! I will go here again the next time I am in Brooklyn!
I went to Miriam on a date and sat at the bar for happy hour. We ordered 2 for 1 wines and $3 mezes like hummus, shrimp, and spanakopita. It was all dellicious and very reasonable priced. I would love to go back!
Loved the appetizers so much, my wife and I ordered three rounds and never even made it to the main courses. I'm sure they would have been delicious as well.
First time at Miriam--a pre-BAM dinner for 2. We had a 7:00 curtain, so dinner was early and we had our choice of tables--not sure what it's like at peak dining hours, but the room was very comfortable, with a calm, friendly vibe.
The Haloumi and artichoke salad was great, as was the Chicken schnitzel. My companion had a selection of mezze and enjoyed them all.
I'm perplexed by reviews I've seen regarding below-par service at Miriam. We found everybody--the host, our waiter, the bus-staff--uniformly attentive, friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended; I will definitely be back.
Loved the lamb Sharma and bronzing main dishes. Good meze selection.
I booked a reservation to miriam on valentines day & it was perfect. The ambiance was great- low lighting & relatively quiet. They offered a fixed menu and everything was spectacular- especially the first course which was roasted beet & ricotta raviloi. I cant wait to go back & try different things off of the regular menu.
A reasonably priced, tasty menu with sizeable portions. Space was a little cramped but that is the only complaint. Highly recommend the apple cider moonshine cocktail. Like an apple pie in a glass.
We made a last minute reservation for New Year's Eve and were pleasantly surprised There was a special menu for that evening and for an additional cost you could get the wine pairing to go with it. I chose not to but it sounded like the wines they chose were not the ordinary kinds. The waiter brought around two "shots" of soup for everyone to taste and they were both excellent. It's true that the portions were small but the quality of everything we ordered was wonderful and the meal was a success. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Our group had a selection of small plates and main courses, and almost all of them were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the Chicken Shawarma and the ribs. Wine list had an interesting variety and was reasonably priced. Service was friendly, attentive and enhanced the experience.
Went out for a dinner at our near by restaurant as we always do after shabbos. We know the restaurant since 2006 (unfortunately menu got shrunk after the renovation), some of the staff working there even a cocktail lounge across the street owed by the same owner where we always stop before visiting Miriam or just for a drink occasionally.
This time, the food was great as always, hummus and Marquez to die for, chicken schnitzel and chopped israeli salad good as always but few things bothered us a lot this time.
Service was awfully slow, 25 minutes for starters to come, without servers even checking on us or apologizing, another 30 min for the main course (we had to ask twice did chef get run over by train) and almost 30 min for desert. At this point Daniel, one of the servers, got a bit embarrassed and asked about deserts, meni to the kitchen and brought some complimentary baklavas while we were waiting. Desert came as well as the owner, Rafael, very nice and friendly israeli fella who apologized once again and took deserts off the bill. Nice and kind.
Rafael even escorted us out of the restaurant, apologized once again and shook our hands.
We will come to Miriam again, for sure, but we hope next time will be a bit quicker.a bit
Delicious, authentic food with a gregarious owner who wants to make you feel at home. We found this place randomly on OpenTable, but will now come back on purpose. Delish!
We didn't know what to expect but we were really pleased that we decided to go to Miriams. The food was excellent. We were four and all enjoyed their meals. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable given the quality and quantity of the food. The chicken schnitzel was outstanding but everything was good.
