Best sushi in Chicago!!! Love Mirai- you must try Kano Nigiri and Spicy Mono but everything is super fresh and delicious!! Have been eating here for years and have never been disappointed!!
The sushi at Mirai is delicious and the cocktails are great!!!
2 words, Shrimp Togarashi! It's amazing. Love Mirai and can't wait to return!
It was wonderful. Miae the owner was there and took extra special care of us. The food was amazing and the atmosphere is to die for.
One of the most extraordinary dining experiences in Chicago. Japanese cuisine is a favorite and Mirai Sushi is my new go to sushi destination. Each dish was carefully plated in beautiful and unexpected ways - I love being impressed by the Chef. I highly recommend going to this Chicago gem.
Fantastic sushi as always. My wife and I love this place and it is our go to for quality sushi. We absolutely loved the tempura shishito peppers. We will definitely be back.
The food was decent enough, but the service was unacceptable for our first time there. The waiter pretty much ignored us after bringing our drinks and appetizers. We were done for quite a while, waiting for him to come by since it was not very busy that evening, but he never did. We eventually had to flag him down to take our order. Also, the view to the back of the restaurant is very unflattering. There’s some kind of weird counter with lots of clutter on it. Don’t think we will return any time soon.
Love this restaurant. Fresh sushi, great service
Out of uni and Japanese ahj disappointed
Consistently the best sushi in Chicago. Mirai never disappoints.
Super let down. Food was below average and super expensive. Definitely not worth it.
Good sushi and sashimi and a nice lively scene. Good cocktails too
The food was so great! At first I thought it was pricy when looking at the menu, but the food is so good and the flavor combinations are well worth it. Very good for a date night - we sat outside and people watched as well. They are adamant about not using soy sauce on certain dishes, which I liked. They take their food and sushi seriously!
I booked for our anniversary dinner because I somehow had the impression via reputation that Mirai was a fabulous place with really great food. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The specialty rolls were very good (we had 4 of them), but the combination sashimi offering was nothing special. Seafood udon was good. I was expecting the slices to be of higher quality and was hoping the pieces might be a little bigger. Our server was very pleasant, but the overall service experience wasn't great. The hostess was very friendly but must have forgotten to check us in as she came over to our table after we were seated to ask for our name again. I think they forgot about our appetizer as we had to inquire about it, and it ended up coming out toward the end of our meal. When our table was wiped down after our plates were cleared, only half of the table was wiped - so half was "clean" and dry, the other half was not. We were considering ordering desert, but were given the bill without being asked if we wanted desert. The restaurant had a number of empty tables by then, so I don't think they were trying to turn the table. Overall, probably fine for your everyday neighborhood sushi night out or carryout, but I personally would not book again for a special occasion. I am pretty sure I mentioned it was our anniversary in the reservation note, but guess it didn't matter. Too bad. Without drinks, our bill was $250 for 4 people.
excellent food! pricey but worth it! best sushi i have has. great quality in the product and food preparation.
Loved the restaurant, food and service! Definitely a winner!!
Trying to hard to be interesting but missing the mark. Expensive for what you get -- the menu wasn't broad enough to feel like it was worth not having more of the basics.
We were in town from NYC for a conference. It was my first visit to Bucktown— cute neighborhood. The hostess greeted us warmly. The room downstairs seemed clean and minimal, and she astutely suggested that we dine upstairs in the livelier sake lounge. It was definitely more hi and darker. I liked that we looked down on the charming street from the table by the window. Service was very friendly. The food was good and innovative. I would have given a perfect score of the quality of the fish were a bit higher (firmer, cooler pieces). Mind you, I'm a toughen
critic because my favorites are Shuko ( the best), 15 East, Jewel Bakl, Morimoto, Sushi of Gari (omakase sushi bar upstairs and in Tribeca only!), Kuramazushi omakase, and the like. Those are in in a different price point altogether, so Mirai was very good for the price. We would definitely return. Try the tuna with mango salad appetizer. All the rolls were excellent, too. The Mizu No Shirabe is a personal favorite sake for the price point which I don't see often, so try that as well. It's very refreshing.
Had dinner here on a Saturday at 7pm with my husband. The weather was nice so we chose to be seated outside. Pleasantly, there was no wait time. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were attentive and prompt. We shared a bit of everything - the shishito tempura, spicy chicken lettuce wraps, tuna tartar, shrimp tempura roll and shrimp togarashi. Everything was great and came out in a perfectly timed fashion. Since we chose to dine out in the front patio area during the prime of Saturday evening, the noise level was a bit high from the street - motorcycles, scooters etc, but the people-watching was great. Seeing all the people walking with their pups was a nice little perk for me.
This was the second visit to this locale, the first time we went with a Japanese friend. The menu at this place is more extensive than the other restaurant in the heart of down town Chicago which we have visited once. The food quality is comparable. Since this was our second visit and we did not go with our Japanese friend we noticed that the hand rolls were not prepared the same way (shape). The explanation did not seem correct. Other than that we are already looking for an excuse to return.
Best sushi ever. Everyone working there seemed to take pride in creating an exceptional experience. Truly amazing.
I recommend sitting at the sushi bar.
Outdoor seating. Food and service were excellent. We will be returning!
Excellent service and meal. Would definitely go back.
Best sushi by far in Chicago! If you appreciate fine food and flavor, this is the place! Jewel! Recommend with the highest rating that exists. And, outstanding service and wonderful owner.
Best sushi in Chicago and Willie is the best server in Chicago!
Great food and friendly service
This is some of the best sushi in Chicago. Everything I had was fantastic, but the sweet miso nabe, was one of the best soups that I've ever tasted. This is great sushi for sushi lovers who want to appreciate the rice and fish, but they also have maki for people who may be newer to the sushi scene.
I come from fresh fish land in Seattle, and though I'm from Chicago and love all things about the city I was skeptical about getting great sushi in a mostly landlocked town. It's true that they don't have the variety of fish that you can find at a sushi restaurant in Seattle, But I was knocked off my feet by the flavors at Mirai - the tuna tartare was especially incredible, by the far the best sushi dish I have ever had. The texture was almost blended but still with a bite, and with a delicious sauce and a tiny perfect quail egg, chive fronds and fish roe at the tips. The whole thing looked almost too good to eat but of course it was even better eaten, slowly, and really savored. This place is top-notch and will impress even the pickiest of sushi lovers.
Food is flavorful and very well prepared
Amazing sushi and soba soup!
We went with the chefs recommendations which were average at best. All of us left hungry and with a bill over $100 despite asking to be told when we got to $75. Two of our group also did not want to do the omakase chefs special but got lumped in with us because of the waiters mistake. They still charged everyone for us. Our waiter did not seem to understand us at all, which was frustrating. None of us would return.
Everything from the sushi to the sake was incredible. Went late on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all. Would go back in a heart beat, will be hard to beat this sushi on my list.
I highly recommend Mirai Sushi to everyone. I have eaten Sushi at several restaurants and none of them come close to the freshness of Mirai. The owner is very hospitable and makes you feel like family. I will tell everyone I know to go to Mirai.
We love Mirai and keep going back. The food is consistently delicious, the sake list is solid - and the cocktails are great. I could eat the Mirai Combination every day. Dig the neighborhood vibe, and the service is super friendly. My out-of-town family loves it. If you are with older folks with hearing or mobility issues, request downstairs seating.
Food was delicious! Upstairs is better for a date then downstairs. We will be going back soon for sure!!!
The night we met, a little more than 11 years ago, we ended up at Mirai for late night sushi. Went back a few times since and the late was for Valentine's Day. The sushi was as good as ever and the scene was still lively and energetic without being overwhelming. The service was a tad slow and I'm not sure why since the tables were never completely full. I think management may have thought it was going to be a regular Sunday night but it was Valentine's Day before a national holiday on Monday! Should've known you were going to get a crowd. Anyway, the wait staff did an admirable job holding it together and keeping all the plates in the air. No question we'll be back. With or without the personal nostalgia, Mirai is still a great place of sushi!
Good rolls! Could use more specialty rolls.
Tuna Tuna Salmon roll was amazing. I would absolutely come back just for that one. The other rolls were very good too.
When here before the Hawks game probably the first time I've been here in about four years. It is very different from how used to be unfortunately the quality has slipped a little bit, as well as the ambience.
