We are locals who are enjoying getting reacquainted with a local landmark. The atmosphere is wonderful, especially in the end, which is cozy and comfortable. The food was excellent, and the service was courteous and friendly, but could be a little bit more attentive to some of the basic needs of the table such as bread service, and liquid refreshment. Otherwise,An excellent experience and we will be coming back for more.

The service was much better then our previous visit. However, they no longer take the Lessing’s rewards card. Other establishments still do. I do not understand why. Very disappointing as we also go to brunch with Santa every year. I have had my card for years and come often. Sad!

I have been coming to MIRABELLE since the where new in St.James, the food is good, the only thing I miss is the MIRABELLE cocktail, it is not what it used to be, I miss the Mirabelle fruit in the cocktail I and my family have had it. It is not same without it. ;-( Charles Kohn

Expected more...
The food was ok and the service was lacking.
We waited a long time before anyone came to the table to ask about drinks or bring bread.
We had to put clam shells on the bread plate.

It was a pre-fixed menu and there were three choices for dessert. We were there early and ready for dessert at 7:00. We wanted the tiramisu and there was none left.
We aren't sure if they even had it at all.

We might give it another try but wouldn't rush back.

I enjoy Mirabelle Tavern every now and then. I often find it inconsistent with the food and service. I have to say that this past Friday for restaurant week, it was Fabulous !!!!! The service, the food, the value were spot on! Had the pumpkin soup, spinach fettuccine and apple crisp for dessert, OMG delicious! Can’t wait to go back!

We were disappointed that our reservation for Mirabelle was actually put in the tavern, but the atmosphere was pleasant. Food was good without being outstanding. Service was friendly and engaged.

It was Restaurant Week and we decided to try the highly-rated Mirabelle. We were disappointed in the food, the service and the ambiance. This restaurant is over-rated. We do not intend to return.

First time there. Went because of Restaurant Week and the Pre Fixe menu. Everything was well prepared and good presentation. If you want to get away from same old, same old, go here. Prices are higher but the food is classy. Don't expect a bargain, not that kind of place.

We've been wanting to eat here for awhile and Restaurant Week was a perfect opportunity. The food was extraordinary...delicious and inventive! The servers were attentive, but seemed to need a bit more guidance when it came to clearing glasses on our small table, yet would ask if they could take our knives and bread plate? Minor complaints to be sure, but with a top notch chef you would expect the service to be a bit more organized and consistent. We will return ...the food is way too wonderful not to!

Mirabelle does not disappoint; it earned its 5 stars at every turn. We were lucky enough to have dined there during the Long Island Restaurant week, which means that the Prix-fixe menu was full of options for discerning palates. There were choices of 5-6 appetizers and 5-6 entrees, and even more options for dessert (one of each is included in the $28.95 cost). Hubby and I both selected the Brioche-crusted scallop and shrimp soufflé appetizer, served with a tomato and caper remoulade. It was crisp on the outside, and creamy yet light and flavorful inside. The appetizer paired nicely with a dry Prosecco. Next, my husband had the Lamb shank with roasted vegetables - superb, and I had the classic Trout Almondine, with haricot vert. Other entrée options included a Rib-eye steak, a chicken dish, and a Mushroom Ragout fettucine plate. We rounded up the meal with a crusty and chewy Almond Ginger tart, and a fruit cobbler. This is autumn comfort food at its best (it didn't hurt that it was rainy and gusty outside!)

Food was disappointing. We remember the early days of Mirabelle. Its gone downhill.
My first mouthful of Trout had 6 small bones. This was replaced with Lamb Shank which was tough.

Overall a very nice dining experience.food was tasteful and the bottle of Prosecco we ordered was reasonably priced. Drinks from the bar were excellent pours...service was the weakest link, not that it was bad, but they lacked the knowledge of some basic etiquette when serving.

Food was great--fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned, excellent presentation. Service was extremely slow. If you have hours to wait for servers, it's a great place for dinner. Our server vanished at several intervals, including something like a 45 minute hiatus between when we finished our main course and when we got dessert, and another half hour to get the check (although we asked for it when we got the dessert). Then, the checks had numerous errors that took a long time to straighten out. This contributed to a 3 hour dinner on a working evening--not good.

We've been eating at Mirabelle since it was Mirabelle in St. James. Once Guy and Maria moved into Three Village Inn, it lost much of its ambiance and great service!
We eat in the Tavern often.....but not on the weekend usually. This time it was a Saturday, a birthday dinner, and there was an affair at the same time.....doesn't seem like the staff can handle both. Although the food was yummy, the service went downhill as the evening progressed; waiting 40 minutes for dessert (were told the pastry chef was making more Napoleons which were flat pieces of puff pastry with some cream). The "manager" tried to make it up to us by bringing 4 desserts even though we only ordered 2! BTW, Ginger tart is still quite good! Unless you have plenty of time to dine, (or it's the bar that is calling!) skip it on the weekend especially if they are catering simultaneously!

We have dined at this restaurant many times. Although the food is generally very good, it is not consistent. Too often, a dish is mediocre or bad. However, my main complaint is that management does not seem to do a good job in training and managing the server staff. There are too many times when there are not enough servers to adequately meet the needs of the diners and other times they just do not bother to check on diners often enough to see if anything is needed. This can result in a frustrating dining experience.

The food was fine but maybe because it was a Monday night the flavors did not stand out, at least as compared to when we went there before. The service was a bit spotty. The desert (blueberry cheesecake) was rather bland.

This was a saturday nite so it was noisy, there was a group of us for dinner for an occasion, they seated us right away, found alittle corner, and in no time we were as loud as the rest of the tavern! Live music on this night, maybe a regular thing. Food was excellent and creative with alot of emphasis placed on the chefs choice, well done chef! It is a good place to try something
alittle different. Yes, $$$, enjoy its not an everday thing! Also, OpenTable saved came through
as usual. Thanks

My wife and I rated the food and cocktails (good pours) very good. The service started slow and progressively moved to none existent. We both ordered soup which came with teaspoons! Not a big deal but I could see mistaking a salad fork for a dinner fork, but the correct spoon for soup should be 'Service 101'. We had to enlist a passing server to get us soup spoons. After serving the main course we never saw our waiter again, no even flagging distance away. By the meals end I had to enlist the host desk to get our check. We did not have dessert/coffee because we didn't want to endure another prolonged wait.

The restaurant was about 2/3 full. The attached more formal part of the restaurant had a private party of about 8-10 people. In other words, it was mid-week and the place wasn't that busy. The waitress, not our original waiter, who brought the check apologized for the wait stating that they were busy with the other room's service. Recall, 8-10 people in the other room. Worse, and this should be taught to all service staff, never say the staff is busy with something else unless it's a real emergency. Otherwise what in effect you're saying is that these other customers are obviously more important than us, so you'll just need to wait.

Listen, we've enjoyed Mirabelle for many years. We'll be back. Maybe this experience can be explained or is simply a one-off. If our original waiter was legitimately pre-occupied with another customer than someone else should be instructed to at least let us know, better yet assist us. We are not demanding or complaining types. But this experience was just egregious.

The score on service - is an average of a 5 for our waiter (he was exceptional and attentive) and a 1 for the management of our reservation by the Maitre d'. We arrive 5 minutes early for a 915 reservation and were immediately told that our table was not ready and that their kitchen was closing at 930 - contrary to their website (which had the kitchen closing at 10) and that open table still was showing slots available at 930 for dinner. I realize that restaurants have to manage their staff and kitchen, but a well-regarded restaurant like this needs to treat its customers with a little. Previous customers were slower than expected - understandable - but not so understandable to shut the kitchen early.

We have eaten here for years and unfortunately the staff has not kept up with the food, service does not reach the heights it once was. My wife ordered Branzino and salmon was brought to the table. When we pointed this out to the server she stated oh yeah the kitchen did say they were running low on branzino is this ok? The Food is Still high quality French cuisine.

Delicious! I had the lobster roll and it was so fresh tasting with big chunks of lobster, I was so full I couldn't eat the roll. The rest of my party had tavern burgers and they raved about it! We love this place, one of our children got married there. Food is always great and lots of options.
