Nice room by fire place
Service was good
Food was ok, I expected a whole more since this MIRABELLE
Great quality food, reasonable price, great ambience.
Love the ambiance at Mirabelle but my dinner was not so good. The mussels were over cooked and the pommel frites were cold. Service was iffy, they were either on top of you or non existent. Which is why I didn't send my fries back. Dined there in January and it was very good during restaurant week~ will go again but not too soon.
Kitchen is slow. I enjoyed it.
Love the restaurant food, atmosphere, and service was great! Will be coming back soon,
We were given a complimentary cocktail for our anniversary! We were seated next to the fireplace and had great service. The food was very and prompt!
Usually excellent, however, we dined during the “wedding showcase” event and the noise and traffic ruined our quiet and elegant evening. We absolutely needed to be told that there was a significant event that night when we made our reservation....we could have easily chosen another time to dine. The trout was disappointing, as were the potato accompaniment as well. This is the first time we were LESS than pleased!
Returned to Mirabelle Tavern after a hiatus. Had a bad experience last time - probably because of the craziness of the weekend - which I will now avoid. Pleasant time - seat next to the fire, what could be a finer place for nice hot bowl of soup and a hot toddy?
The service was largely non-existent. There are very few traces of French cuisine left on the menu, which is now largely crowd pleasers, sans sauces or accoutrement. The preparation is solid and the ingredients are fine but its not the Mirabelle it used to be when Guy ran it as his own restaurant. It is now a commercial B&B dining room with profitability and mass appeal presiding over gourmet cuisine. Its really a shame. It used to be the best restaurant in much of Long Island but one can not even remotely make that assertion any longer. The ambience is a tavern if one is generous and bar if one is parsimonious, not a dining room, at least at lunch on weekends, which is similarly sad.
Waiter kept trying to take my plate every few minutes. He did not seem to understand that I was a slow eater. He started asking after the second bite of my burger.
I am all about supporting local establishments But When a Place charges almost $60.00 for a burger and fries a cup of peppermint tea fish & chips and A glass of white zinfandel I Call Overpriced out right Piracy. The Service was Exemplary everything else not so much
The dining area with bar was too noisy. We had hoped to be in the Main dining room where it appears to be more formal. Service was excellent! Food was average.
The food was bland. I ordered spinach fettuccine & oysters for an appetizer. The oysters were tiny & the pasta had no flavor to it. My husband ordered lamb with a side of broccoli rabe. He said the lamb was good but the broccoli rabe had these little cubes on it that looked like sausage. The waiter had no idea what the cubes were & had to ask the chef. He then told us that it was a stuffing left over from another entree they serve.
The only delicious part of the meal was dessert.
For $150 we were had. We will never go back nor recommend this place.
Never disappoints. Food and service were excellent. We went there for Long Island Restaurant week. Great menu selection. Attentive service.
Great food! Amazing desserts . A wonderful wine list. Lovely ambience.
Lovely in every way! We sat by a fireplace, enjoyed an amazing meal and listened to a cello and guitar.
We thought the Entrees were good, as were the appetizers. It was just not the WOW experience we were expecting.
We enjoyed a very nice dinner during restaurant week. Food was excellent as was service. You will notice I said "quiet". This was because we asked to be sat in the dining room as the bar was very busy and very noisy and this was on a Tuesday evening. It could also have been happy hour if they have one. The dining room was very quiet, only one other occupied table but we enjoyed it as we were able to talk without shouting and we heard each other. The bar would have been far too noisy for us but each to their own. Don't be afraid to ask to be seated somewhere else.
Ordered the burger medium-rare. Came out medium-well. Server said they would cook another for me. When he finally returned, the meat was well done. Disappointed
Food and value was just OK, service started slow but did pick up towards middle of meal. Like the ambiance of old tavern.
Had not been for awhile. Always love the atmosphere. Food was excellent. Found more on the menu that usual. Loved the tasting menu option.
Great food. Comfortable atmosphere. Server(Natasha) was excellent
Food was good and we were seated by a fireplace on this cold night. New Years Day dinner was cozy.
Excellent food and drinks. The original glass blown windows brought back great memories for our aunt who turned 90. Love the preservation of history !
Have been here many times and always find good food however service was not up to snuff. Slow and had to ask several times for the same thing. Perhaps it was holiday time and too busy The noise level was tremendous and seating was not perfect for sure
The Tavern was not noisy for my taste and did not do justice to the food.
What a great dining experience!! Excellent food and service!! We went for a holiday dinner and we're not disappointed! Christmas Carols and great food!!
A holiday tradition that never is a disappointment ! Wonder price fix menu as well as small and large plates. This time of year the tavern is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful troup of carol era on the weekends. It is well worth a trip !!!
The Tavern has a great close knit feel with giant fireplace at one end and bar at the other. House Pinot Noir was not the right bottle to choose but there are many others on the menu. The appetizers we had of a parsnip soup and crab cakes were excellent. Well flavored, lump crab no fillers and nicely presented. The main courses were a different story. The seared monk fish wasn't seared but appeared baked, was dry and unseasoned even though it was placed atop a chorizo tomato puree that had flavor, there was no flavor or seasoning to the fish. The steak was a surprise as it had the appearance of a pork tenderloin, round and sliced as such, but was a relatively dry cut of beef. This was served with an unappealing grayish-brown potato mash. The beef was had only a few drops of sauce beneath it and this ran out in a few bites. As a result it remained dry and with little flavor. Overall the menu is very limited and priced above its quality. The place was busy or lacking servers as it took a long time at every intervening step.
We are locals who are enjoying getting reacquainted with a local landmark. The atmosphere is wonderful, especially in the end, which is cozy and comfortable. The food was excellent, and the service was courteous and friendly, but could be a little bit more attentive to some of the basic needs of the table such as bread service, and liquid refreshment. Otherwise,An excellent experience and we will be coming back for more.
The service was much better then our previous visit. However, they no longer take the Lessing’s rewards card. Other establishments still do. I do not understand why. Very disappointing as we also go to brunch with Santa every year. I have had my card for years and come often. Sad!
I have been coming to MIRABELLE since the where new in St.James, the food is good, the only thing I miss is the MIRABELLE cocktail, it is not what it used to be, I miss the Mirabelle fruit in the cocktail I and my family have had it. It is not same without it. ;-( Charles Kohn
we were seated in the very loud bar area, had to scream to hear each other, service was very slow, not worth the money
The food was ok and the service was lacking.
We waited a long time before anyone came to the table to ask about drinks or bring bread.
We had to put clam shells on the bread plate.
It was a pre-fixed menu and there were three choices for dessert. We were there early and ready for dessert at 7:00. We wanted the tiramisu and there was none left.
We aren't sure if they even had it at all.
We might give it another try but wouldn't rush back.
Always enjoy the Tavern. Friendly, comfortable setting with great food and service.
I enjoy Mirabelle Tavern every now and then. I often find it inconsistent with the food and service. I have to say that this past Friday for restaurant week, it was Fabulous !!!!! The service, the food, the value were spot on! Had the pumpkin soup, spinach fettuccine and apple crisp for dessert, OMG delicious! Can’t wait to go back!
wanted to go to this restaurant for a long time but never did. it was restaurant week so we thought it was a good opportunity to try it out. Not worth the price - poor service I would not go back
Consistently excellent food and service. Neighborhood icon.
Lovely dinner with friends. Went during Restaurant Week. Good value.
