The most iconic and oldest jazz club in the United States.
Minton's was great, I enjoyed everything, the drinks, food, wait staff. Above all else I was there for the music and I thought it was amazing. The second set was even better than the first, it was clear to see the folks on stage were talented.
The food was delicious and we enjoyed the cocktails. I recommend Mintons for gatherings of friends to chit chat in a comfortable atmosphere with music.
This was great, the food and atmosphere and the music was amazing. Unfortunately the restaurant is not good with acknowledging special request. I informed the restaurant via open table that it was my husbands birthday and they completely never acknowledged it even when they brought out desert. I had to wait until we were done and he went to the bathroom to say something. Big miss on their in part in regards to service. Outside of that the experience was great.
Everything at Minton's was so well done. The only exception is the Check-In. You give your name & then wait 15min to be seated when there are rows and rows of open seating. In fact there was quite a back up at the front entrance. All customers waiting to be seated. That should be corrected. Then I would give Minton's an Excellent Rating.
This was my second time at Minton's. The drinks, food, music, and ambiance were all great both times. The hostess was friendly and honored my request to sit closer to the band. Most wait staff seemed to be attentive and worked quickly; mine not so much. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I'd say it's definitely worth it for a special occasion.
It was my first time at the venue the drinks were a hit. The food was ok. I think the menu share to many the Cecil steakhouse. Overall i had a great time.
Our waiter was absolutely amazing! He made great suggestions and provided excellent service!! The food was delicious, and the performance was outstanding!!!
We have been going to Minton's for years. I've recommended the supper club to many and brought many guests, both locals and those visiting us in NYC.
Minton's has new management and they clearly haven't ironed out the kinks. Brilliant basics were lacking. The bar (and bartender) was an absolute mess. Not sure if the bartender was new, but besides that it took 10 min to get a drink (with no other customers in front of us) the lack of training was apparent.
We went to the later 930p sitting. We're were sat near the front as we'd requested. Appreciated that. Our waitress took our order and our drinks didn't hit our table for 20-30 minutes, well into the set. When we asked the waitress, she blamed the bartender vs apologizing or offering a free drink. Our dinner didn't arrive till the last song of the set and my husband's vegetables were cold. His salmon was okay.
Thank goodness the big band that night was amazing, otherwise the evening would have been an absokute fail. Until we're confident that service has improved, we'll be heading to Ginny's or Smoke for jazz & dinner. Service was unbearable this visit and needs an overhaul!
Wonderful, impressive live band playing great American Jazz. very good food and drinks/ we enjoyed our experience and definitely recommend it.
What a great experience! Food was good (not extraordinary but very good) and plentiful, but the highlight here is definitely the music and the vibe. This is a truly unique bar.
The ambience was lovely, felt warm and friendly. Staff was accomodating howver singer was awful. her band was very good but unfortunately she was not
Beautiful evening at Minton’s Playhouse to listen to live jazz music. This is a very historic venue and it shows. We did not sample the food, but the cocktails were delicious. The food looked very good and they have a full menu in partnership with the adjoining steakhouse, Cecil’s.
Went for my boyfriend birthday. We both loved the band. The food and service was great. And I loved the ambience. Definitely plan to return.
the birthplace of modern jazz has been brought back to life with a restoration of its historic space and an updating of its previous existence as a popular restaurant. The food and drink options were among the best I've had in a jazz club.
Minton's "twist" on the classic martini was top-notch. The portioning of wine by the glass was not skimpy.
Cesar salad held true to its promise of faithfully replicating Cesar Cardini's original creation, and it was appropriately portioned.
The porterhouse (for two) was dry aged prime beef, expertly prepared. However, the side dishes which came with it (we choose cauliflower and broccoli raab) were on the skimpy side for serving one diner. They were way short of an adequate serving for two people.
But above all, this is a rare bird - - a complete renovation which updates a historic facility while fully succeeding at recreating the experience of being in a legendary jazz club in its heyday (which is what Minton's was particularly in the period of the 1940's) - - and what Minton's gets exactly right is thrilling. From end to end, this is the real deal.
Great venue. Decidedly up market. Good food and service too. A first class experience.
Very nicely decorated and comfortable seating with non-barrier views of the stage and performers.
The 5-piece jazz group we saw were excellent and the performers were having as good a time as the
Very surprisingly good, music fantastic, food outstanding.
The music was amazing and the food was great! We really enjoyed ourselves. It was very memorable.
Went to see a friend performing at Minton's. Everyone on the staff was friendly. And the food was terrific! So was the music (though I might be biased). All in all, a lovely evening.
we had a great time at Minton's. The atmosphere, music and food did not disappoint. Top notch experience. Can't wait to go back.
It was a friends 70th birthday and, for months, we had been threatening to go! When our initial plans were canceled and we saw that Solomon Hicks was playing, it became a no brainer, love him and really enjoy all the times I’ve been there!
Great music and food. Wonderful night out. We'll be coming again.
This place was breath Taking , first time coming here for my Anniversary, and we loved everything about it , the ambiance of Minton's was beautiful , the food was delicious, and the live musiq set the atmosphere, everything was just perfect i will recommend this place to every and anyone that I know , we will definitely come Back again 🤗❤😍
Great time, highly recommended
Everything was good, except I wish they gave more food for the price. Next time I think I will
Eat before I go. Drinks are well worth it.
The nicest atmosphere of any jazz club I have been to. Comfortable seating, attractive decor, friendly and attentive service. I just wish the talent on stage was better. The unimpressive "biggish band "was playing. In my opinion they were mediocre. The vocals were particularly weak. This is NYC- so many talented musicians and performers who would love to have a paid gig. There was a $20 music charge on top of food and drink. The food and drink prices seemed average for NYC and quality was good. I had the prix fixe 3 course for $42 which was satisfying.
great place for music, decent food, sadly, terrible watered-down drinks.
Best oof the best. Do yourself a favor if you know and like great music and venue. its the best J. C> Hopkins and his band, Andy Bey is nothing short of wonderful.
This place was great... the music and drinks were spot on... however when made the reservation I wasn’t informed of the hefty “set fee” of $30 per person per table ($60) that was added on to the bill apart from our food and drinks order. I just wish I was told about the added charge ahead of time so that I could’ve been better prepared. This is definitely not an affordable way to spend a Saturday night listening to live music..... but it was a very enjoyable night the band and singers were excellent!
fantastic setting, reminiscent of years ago. Good steak house style food, memorable evening
My friends and I had a great time! We enjoy the food and the musicians. The service was good but slow.
Amazing place to eat, drink and listen good music!
Great spot, music was tops, food was excellent (never expect that at a jazz club), and the staff could not have been more attentive. Will definitely return.
Great experience, food was very good and reasonably priced. Band was AWESOME! Definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion.
The overall dining and musical experiences are awesome. You’ll do a good bit of waiting on your food so bring your patience with you. Nonetheless, I don’t mind waiting on good food.
Good music and good food in this historical club.
A journey in the legend of jazz.
great live entertainment, the food was good. They just don't have enough servers. And the place was packed. At least on the night we were there, celebrating our anniversary, it took forever to get our orders in and get our food. And the place was packed, so it was really unfair to all of us. The restaurant needs to do better about that.
Went to Minton playhouse for my birthday and had a great time. the music was great, lovely ambiance and the food was great especially the lobster guacamole we actually ordered one to go. Will be back possibly for a date night.
Overall the place was great, however the waitress was horrible. It took an hour for her to come back to us, and that was because I had to go and find her. I wouldnt say she is a reflection of the venue as a whole though. Still a great evening spot and would highly recommend.
Excellent band playing Afro-Cuban jazz but we could barely concentrate due to the rude people shouting over the music to each other. One particular woman was attention-seeking appallingly and was old enough to know better. She wasn’t the only one, but she was the worst. Staff did nothing to help and showed equal disrespect for the performing artists. $20 cover charge plus two drink and food minimum. After 25 mins we still hadn’t been asked what we would like to drink. They didn’t have the bottle we ordered anyway, same happened to neighbouring table. Food came before the wine turned up. Ordered steak as the place is affiliated to a steakhouse next door - overcooked and unpleasant at $38 very poor value too. Room was so cold six women were wearing either their own coats or companion’s jackets. Asked server if she could turn temperature up but she didn’t. Asked again and this time it increased fractionally. Appears to be almost no management making sure service is running smoothly and guests are respectful to band and other patrons. Would not recommend and wouldn’t return - shame as band were excellent (Yunior Terry).
