Went to Minton playhouse for my birthday and had a great time. the music was great, lovely ambiance and the food was great especially the lobster guacamole we actually ordered one to go. Will be back possibly for a date night.
Overall the place was great, however the waitress was horrible. It took an hour for her to come back to us, and that was because I had to go and find her. I wouldnt say she is a reflection of the venue as a whole though. Still a great evening spot and would highly recommend.
Excellent band playing Afro-Cuban jazz but we could barely concentrate due to the rude people shouting over the music to each other. One particular woman was attention-seeking appallingly and was old enough to know better. She wasn’t the only one, but she was the worst. Staff did nothing to help and showed equal disrespect for the performing artists. $20 cover charge plus two drink and food minimum. After 25 mins we still hadn’t been asked what we would like to drink. They didn’t have the bottle we ordered anyway, same happened to neighbouring table. Food came before the wine turned up. Ordered steak as the place is affiliated to a steakhouse next door - overcooked and unpleasant at $38 very poor value too. Room was so cold six women were wearing either their own coats or companion’s jackets. Asked server if she could turn temperature up but she didn’t. Asked again and this time it increased fractionally. Appears to be almost no management making sure service is running smoothly and guests are respectful to band and other patrons. Would not recommend and wouldn’t return - shame as band were excellent (Yunior Terry).
I had a very good time at Minton’s Playhouse. I plan to visit again.
We had a wonderful evening!
Great food, service, and music.
We will be returning!
What an atmosphere. Loved the place, the music. Food was excellent too.
This is on of the top jazz clubs anywhere. Minton's has deep roots since the beginnings of jazz and continues to showcase top talent from NYC and around the world. The atmosphere is a beautiful modern supper club. The food had been respectable and service spotty on past occassions. I am delighted to report that our ahi tuna, ribs and other menu items were excellent! The service was very good. Another wonderful night out at Minton's!
Fabulous venue in the heart of Harlem, presenting great music and ambiance.
A long bar greets the public and then come the tables. We had reservations for a party of nine. Two more friends came, so they set a long table for us.
There is a cover and two items food/drink consumption.
Most of us ordered Sangria(red). I didn't like it. Tasted like it had guava. Others had Martinis. Mixed drinks.
We ordered appetizers(Beef Empanadas, Crab Cakes, Calamari). Entrees: Ella & Louie Chicken, Mussels, Hamburger. Sides: Garlic Spinach, Sweet Potatoes, Sweet Plantains.
We sort of shared so we could have a taste.
The Beef Empanadas were very good, with a Chimichurri sauce and a salad of kale, corn, little tomatoes and avocado.
Crab cake was delicious as well.
The Chicken has capers and a light lemons sauce it was ok.
The Mussel were very nice in a tomato broth.
Sweet Plantains divine!
Melvis Santa & Ashedí we're playing. We had to get up and dance.
Great night out with friends at this recently renovated Historic venue. This is a "Grown & Sexy" spot...great ambience. They share a kitchen with Cecil's Steakhouse. I ordered the Salmon entree, which was Very tasty! Top shelf whiskey was Very well-priced ($9.00-$9.50).
The performance was awesome....Afro Cuban artist Melvis Santa and Ashedi. LOVED IT. Melvis is a classically trained Pianist, and has a beautiful jazz singing voice; Ashedi is an awesome trio of musicians/singers. I loved the variety of interesting instruments they used.
Check this place out!
Julian Pressley was amazing!! So sad u didn’t have the t-shirt in my size.
Music was great, but service was truly awful.
We asked for a wine bottle. After two tries, they offered an alternate bottle. After our appetizer, they set up the table for desert until we told them that we haven’t got our dinner yet. We finally got our dinner when music was done. We paid as the last people while they were cleaning the place to close it. A pity since music was great.
We had a wonderful night! We saw Solomon Hicks and it was literally the best date night my boyfriend and I have had in over a year. We absolutely loved the music and the venue. The host let us choose a great little booth in the corner so we could have some privacy, but we weren't too far away at all and could still enjoy everything. The food was delicious, but especially the drinks were great!
Thanks for providing a nice, romantic evening! Couldn't be more grateful!
Minton's provided an experience I will always treasure. The friendly staff and the great atmosphere were the first indications the night would go well. The food was so delicious! But what made the night unforgettable was Jeffery Miller's Jazz Band. Jeffery's original composition Black and Blue flowed through the musicians into and out of their instruments like human volcanic eruptions. Chris Bittner was one with his saxophone like no player I have ever seen before. I felt my soul tremble by the conclusion of Black and Blue.
We loved it there - food was great, service is top notch. We wish thr performance was longer than one hour - at least 1.5
The introductrory film presentation is far too literal and seems to be design for the very mainstram audience with contradicts by essence the jazz and connoisseurs feel the place should be cultivating.
service food and music were very good but the soul wasn't there
The service, band, food, and ambience were great!!
Will always return to Minton's because the music is fantastic and the food and drinks add to a lovely experience. You pay per music set, but you're also supporting local artists. Do the right thing!
A throwback to old Harlem. Great jazz and great service. The food was great and them overall atmosphere was relaxing and courteous.
We wanted to experience live jazz whilst visiting New York from England.
We were not disappointed. The food was first class and the music and jamming session was amazing. A must visit
Reasonable, but expensive food. Very good live jazz. Very good, attentive service.
there is a reason Mintons is a classic jazz nightclub. it's great. the band and singers were first rate as usual. we were there for the early show. wonderful
Great night ! Great Music !
Food was good, but really , the highlight is the band !
Nice cozy atmosphere, me and my date enjoyed the food drink and entertainment. Will definitely visit again
Overall this place was good, the down side was the music. I personally like a jazz set that jams and takes you into the instruments. This was boring in my opinio.
Beautiful live jazz music, clean, very good food, beautiful ambience. A place to go!
Great place for world class live jazz with great drinks and a traditional American menu.
Minton's is all that and then some! My server, Zambele, was gracious. I love the ambiance of Minton's. This is why I moved from Brooklyn to Harlem. Because it's black and I love jazz. Peace Minton's ! ✌✌✌👍👍👍👊👊👊
We selected this restaurant to hear live jazz, and they did not disappoint in that regard. Our party ordered two menu items that were no longer offered by the restaurant. Instead of the waiter telling us that and suggesting other options, he (or the kitchen) substituted other menu items. Very strange and indicative of a lack of communication and respect for the diners. I suggest updating your menus and better training for the waitstaff.
Awesome music scene. Good food. Very nice and alert waiters
I came to see Laurin Talese who is always outstanding, unfortunately the dining experience wasn't comparable to the performance. The cocktail I had taste quite medicinal and wasn't good at all. I purchased a bottle of still water and the service was lacking so much that I poured my water the entire night. Was rarely checked up on so not got to order food. The pace is beautiful but the service doesn't match it's atmosphere at all.
Historic location for jazz and great food. Would like to visit it again.
SUPERB fish! Both the branzino and the red snapper were excellent
First time at Minton and definitely won’t be my last time. The music is LIVE and full of energy! It was out Anniversary and they have great service!
Loved the food, service, and music
The Cecil salad was amazing. I dreamt about it last night and awakened to the memory of it this morning I'm probably returning to Minton's later on in the week to have it again. Aah so, so good!!
Staff great in general
Waiter unfamiliar with menu
No cornbread? Why on menu?
We love this place!
Alan harris set amazing!
The music was great and the venue is elegant. However the food smd service were disappointing. We have been to Minton’s many times over the past few years and this time I was left questioning whether I will return. In the past the food was excellent. This time it was terrible. We waited over an hour for our entrees and they were quick cooking items. The salad was an odd mixture of ingredients including canned peaches over wilted mesclun mix. The chicken pieces were extremely small thin and cooked to the consistency of leather. The filet mignon was not much better. Perhaps the problem is restaurant week and the kitchen was overwhelmed. The menu lacks focus and tried to do too many different types of food. The old Cecil menu was better.
Enjoyed myself immensely — Allan Harris was delightful and your venue warm and embracing. Will be back, most certainly. Thank you!
A marvelous evening all around. Food, the show and the service were all first class! Can't wait to return!
It was a wonderful experience. Good Music with good food.
