Ming II Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were excited to go to Ming II as the ambiance looks great and the menu had lots of options. We love exploring the many restaurants in Morristown. Although the food was very good (shrimp in green curry sauce was excellent), our service was very poor. Delays in drinks being delivered as well as paying the check really took away from date night. The loud music coming from the bar next door did not help matters either. The experience definitely left a poor impression on us and left us doubtful we would return.
The staff was right on cue, fantastic, attentive, friendly, and professional. The ambiance is great, the décor is unique, modern, and sleek. Low lighting (yet not too dark) was impeccable for a relaxing dinner. The wait staff was right on cue and fantastic. Interesting entry set up, it is three places in one location. Adjoining it is an Indian cuisine restaurant and small cocktail lounge. The south east Asian part (Ming II) is one of the spokes, so to speak, off of this central hub maître d' desk. The restaurant can be somewhat challenging to find as it’s not really visible from the roads or even from the building to which it is attached. Overall food was satisfying, arrived timely, and met all expectations. I would complain about the parking situation, but they do validate parking tickets at the maître d' desk, so I would recommend parking in the hotel parking garage immediately behind/ attached to the restaurant and you don’t have to pay for it post validation.
We have been at Ming several times, and this is the first time we have been disappointed. One of the ordered appetizers came in cold, it was replaced, but this should never have happened as the candle which was supposed to keep it warm was out. Easy to notice. The dishes felt like they had been prepared with less focus as normal, almost rushed, with just more sugar added. Will probably give it another chance, but not as quickly this time.
went for dinner with family for my wife's bday. was impressed with the food and ambiance. The hostess promptly greeted us and seated us after a few moments; Food was good (only tried vegetarian). Service left a lot to be desires. server was pleasant to talk to but had to be reminded to fill glasses with water on numerous occasions. Highly recommend.
This was a strange place. There are multiple restaurants all with the same lobby and waiting area. It was unclear at first what to do when we arrived since there was no staff. When someone finally came we were seated. It took only a few minutes to realize that the music being played was the same song on an infinite loop. It was horribly annoying and impossible to ignore once you notice. The service was quick and efficient. Our water glasses were always full. The food was ok, nothing special. I found it odd that rice was not included with $20 entrées and needed to be purchased separately. The music would probably keep me from going back.
This was our second visit to Ming. Had another great meal. Nice setting for a date...dim lighting and candles. I love that they offer small plates, medium plates, and large plates. The only thing I find odd is the music selection they play in the restaurant...a bit clubby. But otherwise, awesome meal. Will return.
This restaurant can be considered upscale Chinese.
There is no Chop Suey on the menu
I would recommend going on line to view the menu before arrival as it is pretty extensive
The only negative is that the night we went there was no consistency in the heating system
The service was very good and the food choices we made were excellent
Another plus is the underground parking - in bad weather of any sort this is good
Also the restaurant will validate your ticket so there is no charge
We plan on going back fairly soon and it's worth the 1/2 hour drive for us
Check it out
