About
We had a terrific brunch on a beautiful Greenwich Village chilly winter afternoon. We enjoyed delicious Black Label burgers and French Dips with crisp French Fries. We will be back!
Loved this hidden gem!
Just a great dining experience, the bouef for two lived up to its exalted reputation, the service was impeccable, but personable and helpful. The back room is warm & historic. Hopefully, I will return soon.
I wanted to like this place but perhaps my dishes were off. The burger named the best burger in NYC was really soggy by the time it was served to us.
The steak was overpowered by the duck fat they use to keep the steak tender. Service was great but the food was a let down
I've been before and really enjoyed it, but this time around it missed the mark. The meat was cold and the salad's fruit components icy.
The place is a classic, but I wonder if they had a complacent evening. It's a really expensive meal and it was a special occasion, really wish they performed better.
Fantastic food atmosphere and service just as I remembered it years ago
Always great
It's very busy and quite small. The tables and chairs are old and rickety on the tile floors. The booths are old. The atmosphere is very New York. The crowd is a mix but mostly New Yorkers. The food is amazing, incredible, and satisfying. Always leave feeling a sense of a buzz (I don't drink) from the food. It's delicious, clean, and the textures are perfect. Great restaurant I just wish it was bigger and was more comfortable. The usual NYC gripe.
Minetta is my new favorite restaurant in the city. The black label burger is now what I would order if I had to choose a death row meal. The service is extremely attentive, my water glass never was below half full. It is pricey but definitely worth every penny. I love the ambiance of Minetta Tavern, you feel important just being in there.
Too loud and too crowded . Unable to enjoy ur meal
I have walked by so many times that its silly that I never went here . I live acouple blocks away and the Tavern is my new favorite spot !!
Amazing Brgrs but we were wowed by the impeccable service. Mehtty took such good care of us...and that trick with the papercloth on the tables was like a tableside magic trick.
The Black Label Burger is worth the money and the ambience and service are worth your time.
Very disappointed after having high expectations. The eggs Benedict was Below the hotel cafeteria grade the basket of breads and pastries was at least two days old and the waiter hardly paid us any attention even though the restaurant was empty. Plenty of other options for brunch in Manhattan skip this spot.
Amazing food and service.
I went for lunch and they wound not make
Me the chocolate soufflé. Terrible customer service m. Customer always gets what they want. The waiter was extremely rude as well didn’t pay attention to us.
Made a 730 reservation but wasn’t seated until 750. When we finally sat down at our table we were greeted by our server who was extremely cordial and attentive. He made us feel very welcome. It was pretty loud and they pack people in there so expect to rub elbows with the surrounding guests. We ordered the burger because we heard great things. It was tasty, but nothing extraordinary. The chocolate soufflés, however, was heavenly and a perfect cap to the meal. Great spot for a special occasion.
The black label burger is amazing. The trick that I like is to get bone marrow app, but have it with the burger to spread onto the bun.
I was very much looking forward to going to Minetta Tavern, and regrettably left feeling somewhat disappointed. Let me first say the service was outstanding. We started with the roasted bone marrow which was very good. We decided to order the much hyped black label burger and the Minetta burger and share to see which was better. I have to say neither one was as impressive as we’ve heard and I’ve definitely had better. I will probably go again to try other menu items.
Quality food and wine and the most attentive service you can imagine. This may be the reason it is so hard to get a table here. This was definitely one of the best meals ever. Share the dry aged steak and souffle with the one you love.
Service was awful. Food was mediocre. For an iconic NY establishment, I was not impressed.
Cocktails are a must, burger is great (but I've had better), service and ambiance is top notch!
the best steak. The flavor is so exciting.
Lovely restaurant, delicious burger and great staff. Definitely coming back.
Loved Minetta Tavern! The hamburgers are really worth all the hype. I got the Minetta and my fiance got the Black label - they were both incredible. We also got the gruyere soupe appetizer which is basically a brown broth with cheese and baguette all in it - absolutely to die for! All around just amazing. They even put candles in the dessert we ordered bc I had told them it was our anniversary upon booking.
Great for a classic and special occasion meal. The Black Label burger is outstanding, and the chocolate soufflé is a must!
Food is good thought can take awhile when they have a full house.
Booked a table for New Year’s Day. Our table wasn’t quite ready when we arrived so we walked up to the bar, every seat was taken, but the bartender was eager to offer us a drink menu and follow up quickly with getting our order, even allowing me to taste the wine I ordered before pouring a full glass. Great service! The place was packed with local patrons, as well as visitors. Escargots were prepared in a flavorful garlic sauce and served piping hot in a pastry covered bowl rather than the traditional pods and shells. Very tasty! We shared the black label burger, one of the best we have eaten and the steak frits was tender and grilled to perfection. Better than if you ordered in France! Our waiter was attentive and swift with requests. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to NYC. Make reservations well in advance.
Was transiting to Asia via NYC and had a 5 hour layover so headed for a black label burger. We were promptly taken care of per our reservartion and seated a bit early after explaining we had a pending flight. Busy as usual, burger exceptional and worth the effort
I have been to Minetta Tavern before, many years ago. I was looking for a place to take my boyfriend for a steak dinner (we do lots of steakhouses but I wanted a different atmosphere) and after looking at a number of 'best steak in NYC' lists, I decided on Minetta Tavern.
The best part of the meal was the cocktails. Expertly prepared and perfectly balanced. I would come back if only to have a drink. The food was average. We had the endive salad to start. Meh. nothing memorable. Dressing tasted like it came out of a bottle. The brandade fritters were properly seasoned but somewhat cold. We both had steak for our main course. We asked for the filet mignon to be well done and it came back medium. The NY strip was supposed to be medium rare and it came back rare, almost blue. They put it back on the grill, and by the time it came back out, our sides were cold and unappetizing. No one offered to replace them or otherwise give us fresh sides. Our waiter also never asked us if we wanted wine or something to accompany the meal, which I thought was odd. The maitre d' did come over at the end with some lovely Muscadet which was very nice.
Overall, Minetta Tavern had a pleasant vibe, the service was pretty decent, but the food was not a standout. I would not go there for a special occasion or anything but it's decent fare if you are in the village and looking for something hearty to eat.
A staple every time I’m in town. Amazing food, great waiter. Get the filet as it and the Black label burger as is. You will NOT be disappointed.
We were seated at one of the best tables in the restaurant (a curved booth that could seat 5, but we were only 2)! The cote de boeuf was lovely though I would not go back and have it again - the $150 price tag is not quite worth it.
Excellent all around. Food was fantastic and our waiter was very helpful and kind. Unique ambience! Must try 😊 - The Black Label Burger👌🏻
"GREAT FOOD, FRIENDLY SERVICE, AMAZING INTERIOR --
A PERFECT 10!"
About ten years ago, on a plane from California to New York, my husband showed me an article about Minetta Tavern, written by Frank Bruni in the N.Y. Times. That was the beginning of our love affair with Minetta and all of Keith McNally's exceptional restaurants -- all serve great food by a friendly staff in a most charming setting. But, for us, Minetta Tavern is the jewel in the crown!
Our most recent experience at Minetta was particularly memorable, thanks to Eric Bagbeni, the manager. (I believe Eric is the manager. If he isn't, he should be!) Eric was exceedingly gracious and attentive to our table and truly made us feel like special patrons. And, thank you, also, to Tony, our server, who is always friendly and accommodating to special requests.
If you have never eaten at Minetta, GO! You will have to make a reservation well in advance, but you will be glad you did. You are sure to have a wonderful evening and will want to return again and again -- as we have over the past ten years.
Minetta Tavern is everything you want in a New York fine dining experience! Beautiful decor, lively atmosphere, extensive wine & spirit list, and phenomenal food. We had the foie gras, Minetta burger and the duck breast. All were absolutely delicious. It was my birthday and they gave us a complimentary scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Perfect way to end the meal!
Always a great atmosphere and wait staff is super friendly! All dishes are delicious, had the fish Crudo n skirt steak .
After asking the server to make sure the steak was medium the steak not only came out rare but cold. No excuses at this level.
Fabulous in every way!
Black label burger was great and the mussels as well. Great service
They should add the chocolate soufflé to the lunch menu.....
