Amazing food never been disappointed.
We always have to hit Minami when in Vancouver. Food and service are top notch!
We have a wonderful experience. The menu was new to us and the waitress made us feel very comfortable and welcome, explained everything, made recommendations, etc. It was pricier than our normal fare, but it was well worth what we paid. Only regret actually is that we didn't leave a bigger tip for our waitress (wasn't thinking).
Food and service we're excellent.
The host at the reception desk was very kind accommodating. We arrived a full hour before our booked time, but she was good enough to let us know our table was ready.
The server gave very detailed info about the menu choices and this helped us tremendously in choosing our food. The signature sushi as well as the calamari and the steak were all scrumptious.
It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth a try, even once.
Forgot my food
Ordering the food took so dam long
Food didn’t show up what order not great and I come to resturant quote often
Excellent but very expensive
The food was good, place not busy so quiet. Staff pleasant but basically took orders and served the food. Not too attentive.
Main issue was ALL of the Zen Premium Menu was served all together, and everything went cold as we made our way through the sashimi, poke and go-mae. Did ask for manager and gave feedback. Perhaps serving in 3 courses, cold, hot and aburi could be done, in stages.
Nothing too special done for our 45 th anniversary occasion. Just wished and written on dessert plate.
Quantity of food was good and good quality, well made and presented.
Would go again
I find the restaurant quite noisy, so if you are here on a date don't expect it to be a "romantic" date but more like a "fun date". Also a side note is if you drive here, it's cheaper to valet park ($11) then parking at the meter ($6/ hr + plus hard to find parking spots)!
We have a great time as always and the staff were very accommodating.
Brought some colleagues from out of town for a real Vancouver sushi experience. They were blown away. Outstanding food.
Son home from University
Always spot on.
Great food and service!
The waitress asked about our allergies and informed the manager and kitchen. The manager even came to talk to us and we were very pleasantly surprised that the kitchen substituted one of the sushi from the set menu to accommodate my son’s allergy. Great food, great service! Will definitely be back.
The overall food experience was absolutely insaine. Probably hands down the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been. The Oshi is what they're known for and now I know why. The idea of pressed rice with fish on top is amazing!
The sushi is definitely interesting, however, is not traditional and overpriced. The non-Sushi dishes are excellent and definitely the highlight of the restaurant.
Excellent meal! Excellent service! One of the best Japanese restaurants in Vancouver
Minami has great food, in terms of both quality and plating. After having been to both Minami and Miku, I think Minami has the edge in terms of overall ambiance and interior of the restaurant. Would definitely come again!
Fun times, nice food, noisy (but to be expected) good cocktails.
Not as good as miku but better then most! If you are willing to spend the tasting menu at miku is better!
Food was very mediocre for what it was priced, not worth it. Service was great. We reserved for a bday dinner for two and noted it on the reservation but nothing special.
Nice place and the aburi-style sushi is delicious, their signature dish. It is different from most sushi restaurants since the food is made in a production line of sushi chefs-- which is interesting to watch, but less charming than the typical approach in sushi restaurants.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Vancouver and nice atmosphere.
Excellent food and service. We were all first-timers at this restaurant, including an out-of-towner who was very impressed with the menu and the food.
Enjoyed our meal at Minami. The food was delicious (can’t get enough of the salmon aburi oshi). The portions were appropriate except for the green tea opera which seemed much smaller than it used to be. Our waitress was very attentive making sure that our water glasses were always filled to the top and changing our sharing plates.
Excellent aburri sushi. Great service!
They were able to make some noodles and basic rolls for our children.
Amazing food! Amazing service! The salmon and ebi oshi rolls are a must try as is the amazing wine list.
l have been there for many times but l still found it great.
Food was amazing, lots of variety and an exceptional job at modern Japanese dining. Service, however, this time was mediocre. Food and drinks took a while to get to our table and when we made requests, we were waiting for long periods of time. Granted this is a very busy place, especially on a Friday night, but for the money being spent, they should be able to deal with loads (and have in past visits).
Excellent place. It remind me of some restaurants I’ve been to in Japan.
The only problem was the closing time. We made a reservation for 21h30 but the kitchen closes at 22h, if we were told that before going we would have gone earlier or changes restaurants.
I always love their food, it is well prepared, beautifully presented, and is delicious.
Yikes. This time, service had forgotten part of our minami zen. Service came by to correct this, nonetheless, it extended our lunch by 30 minutes.
Simple mistake, but I'm sure it won't happen next time.
Very good, sable fish portion on the small side
I came here with my friend to celebrate our graduation and we were so impressed with the food and service! The sockeye salmon sashimi was the best thing I've ever tasted. Thank you!!
Great food. Nice presentation. I’ll be letting my business colleagues know they have another go to sushi restaurant.
Everything about this place is classy and upscale. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. The Aburi Oshi Sushi is amazing with such delicate flavours. The only negative was the Fraser Valley Pork which seemed to be considerably smaller than the Brome Lake Duck.
Would definitely return to try other menu items. The Aburi Shokai looks worth a try.
Ate at the sushi bar. Service was a bit spotty. Our waitress kept disappearing.
Aburi is top notch. Opera cake is my fave
