Minami Restaurant
From the kitchen, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients are integrated into Minami's dishes to reflect Vancouver's diverse flavours. This culinary approach evokes both the passion and beauty of Aburi cuisine, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware hand picked by owner Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan.
Minami Restaurant offers a dynamic space for both dining and entertaining, including two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden garden patio, and sushi bar.

Our Dine Out experience was excellent value, great service, good Covid protocols and a delicious meal!!
Everything was fantastic. The Aburi Oshi is our new favourite type of sushi!
excellent dinner and curated selection . dessert could have been more original and of the same calibre
Nice food and friendly staffs.
Been there many times before and love the trip this time too.
It would be better if tge server can give good recommendations. Esp for first timers.
Amazing DINE-OUT deal!!! The food was plated beautifully and tasted amazing. Everyone was kind and our server was awesome and knowledgeable about the food. We will definitely be back.
We went during Dine-Out but did not opt for the Dine Out options. Instead, we got a bunch of nigiri (kanpachi, hamachi, ikura, hirame, etc), Salmon and Saba aburi, and Red Wave roll. Also 3 glasses of wine and a beer.
I've been to Miku and Minami at least 50x before and this was the worst visit. I was bringing a friend so I was a bit embarrassed because I told him I've eaten here many times with clients. The rice was cold, horribly compacted and gummy. Ratio to fish and rice in the nigiri was totally off from previous visits; fish was not properly defrosted and pretty much flavourless.
To note, I often eat at other Japanese restaurants both in Vancouver and internationally. This was definitely a sore meal.
Guess they are too busy doing Dine Out to take care of regular diners.
Food and atmosphere was great. Covid protocols were closely followed.
I loved minami but it was more crowded than I expected.
Loved it! Would definitely recommend
We went for Dine out 2021. 5 stars ⭐️
Came for dine out and was pleasantly surprised with the portions. The meal was very delicious and I loved their twist on traditional sushi.
I always enjoy Minami’s Zen set but I have notice one of the Appetizer- poke salad I really don’t like it! Too spicy also the roll sushi API y tuna it’s also too spicy over power! I hope next time can changes/adjust that little bit to different menu/rolls...
I really like the ebimayo from previously menu.
Didn’t do anything for us when we were celebrating an anniversary. Food was good for the price and service was okay. It took awhile for us to order our food
Food was great. Jeremy our server was very good too!
The Vegetarian Dine Out menu was tasty. The vegan miso soup was nice and warm. The vegetable sushi selection was unique and diverse, but a bit disappointing. The garden roll with avocado was tasty, but cold - like the rest of the meal. For me, any good sushi platter should include a warm selection, such as a yam roll. The server brought me green tea while I was washing my hands before the meal. I prefer piping hot jasmine oriental tea poured by a server regularly throughout the meal. Having a pot next to me steeping made the tea overly string and cold. The porcelain of the tea cups were too thin, so they were too hot to hold directly after pouring the tea.
I took a risk by trying the vegetarian menu, while my friend enjoyed the treasures of sea and land included with the regular Dine Out menu. The service was great and the ambiance is excellent - I was even able to turn around to watch Australian Open tennis and NHL hockey on two televisions. The parking in yaletown is atrocious! Only commercial vehicles can park next to the restaurant. The WestPark Lot I had planned to park only has "reserved" spots. All in all, it was a good dining experience.
Amazing. More expensive than your usual spot, but it's worth it.
Many people go for dine out during this pandemic period so it may be due to the high capacity, foods are a little bit cold when they came up. But the atmosphere and service are great. Overall a great experience.
Always love coming here. Staff are friendly, service is wonderful and food delicious. Will definitely be back
Oshi was wow.
Below average for what it's worth. The fish is not fresh as you can find in other mom & pop sushi restaurants. I would not expect to taste a fishy flavor from any fresh sushi...but we found the textures and tastes to be off-putting. The entre was a disaster. There was no flavor, no seasoning, no salt, no umami, no depth....just blah. And it was served lukewarm. I would not recommend this restaurant. Sorry. It has a reputation which creates expectations....we were so very disappointed.
Great table service and great food. Ambiance was good. Other than our server, it seemed like the rest of the staff was just minding their own business but also could have been the effects of COVID and the general atmosphere surrounding it. Overall a very good restaurant.
So impressed with Minami’s Dine Out Vancouver lunch menu - it was fantastic!
Only complaint is that the restaurant was pretty chilly - I noticed a few people still wearing their jackets through out the meal (myself included!)
I love Minami and frequent it regularly. The food was great per usual but we found our server to be quite short with us. After inquiring about the dineout menu, he completely shifted his tone with us. We didn't end up doing Dine Out, but questions shouldnt impact your guest experience? I ordered a sake and he brought over two samplers, and the one I chose he said "Really?" ... Yes really?! Maybe he was having an off night; regardless the food was good. We did ask specifically for the Kale Gomae which used to be a menu staple, but whatever came out wasn't kale. Wish the server would've let us know that the seasonal gomae was not Kale so we weren't surprised when it hit the table. Other staff all friendly and informative. Not my favourite experience at the restaurant but I would still come back for the food.
I honestly don’t leave negative reviews often. We made the reservation months ago for valentines dinner, looked over the menu and were super excited for the set menu valentines/lunar new year dinner for two. It was 150 dollars. We expected to leave the restaurant full. It was 9 pieces of sashimi in a big bowl of ice with garnishes...it was a 150 dollar appetizer. I wish the set menu or the waiter had told us that it wasn’t a meal. I have no problem paying good money for top shelf sushi but this was was maybe 7/10 quality wise.
We left super disappointed and still hungry. Took the L and got a 15 dollar pizza on the walk home.
Better quality sushi places all over Vancouver, this one just gets the attention because it’s trendy. Don’t waste your money.
I tried Konami's 2021 Dine Out lunch menu and had a great experience. I really enjoyed getting to try so many dishes. Good quality and the presentation was very nice.
I usually try not to write negative reviews and give a benefit of the doubt to restaurants but my fiancée insisted I have to let people know about the bizarre service.
We went to Minami yesterday for an early valentines lunch. I’ll get it out of the way by mentioning the food was absolutely fantastic. It was probably some of if not the best Aburi sushi I have had outside Japan.
My fiancée is Japanese and recently moved her in the past two years from Japan and with COVID has not been able to return for visit so she was really looking forward to having a high quality sushi as most of the medium priced places here in Canada are much lower quality then your bargain basement stuff there.
The problem came in with the server I still I do not understand what happened but after initially seating us she proceeded to completely and utterly ignore us for 30+ mins.. I have no idea why.. She even walked past us to many nearby tables but when I tried to flag her down she just ignored and walked right past. Very bizarre and we are still confused what may have caused this as we did nothing impolite ourselves.
After this had happened for 30 mins I managed to flag down another women from a different area and asked her what’s going on or if we should just leave because this is too weird but she apologized and insisted the manager would come out and help us. To his credit he did come out and apologize and he then served us for the remainder of the meal. He did give an excuse that the women “had been busy in the kitchen” but I didn’t want to point out to him that was impossible as she had walked past us at least a half dozen times to other tables.
So in conclusion. The food was outstanding but the service was some of the worst I have ever had and ruined my fiancé’s mood for the evening.. It also left a bad taste that the apology was untrue and although I would have politely refused it would have been nice to be offered compensation of some sort or a dessert it would make sense.
Always a great meal for any occasion. Staff are great, food is phenomenal!
Super yummy! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The dineout menu was so delicious! Good variety of sushi/aburi appetizers and nice steelhead entree.
Everything was fantastic..a hiccup happened in my order, and the way it was handled was flawless.
I have to say Minami has always been my favourite restaurant, but I felt like it was a little less phenomenal than usual. The rice was a little dry, but I'm not sure if it's just pre-pressed for Dine-out or just busier than usual. Service was also a bit slower than usual. I'll likely think twice about returning for a special meal. Love you guys but the quality is slipping a bit.
Very good. Dine out menu had a great assortment of food. Fish was fresh, chicken was perfectly done. Only negative was the time it took for food to arrive ~45 minutes
Always great food. Highly recommend to anyone! We were here to celebrate our anniversary so they wrote a little message for us on our dessert plates. Thanks Minami! Will be back!
I have been to Minami about 3 times for lunch and 5 times for dinner. This is the first time since Covid precautions started and for Dine out.
Cocktail menu was disappointing. It used to be much bigger and very good. I ordered the Minami no Roku.
It wasn’t great and it was $21. I didn’t even have anything to stir it with. After adding my own soda I asked for a stir stick or straw to sit my drink. The non-alcohol drink Akai-Ha was good.
The aburi sushi was good as always. The portion of the main course of the Fraser Valley Chicken Ballotine and asked Saikyo YK3 Sakekasu BC Steelhead was good but not great. Portion was like a small appetizer size. Dessert was a Dark Chocokate Hojicha Brownie which as good. Just wish it was bigger. The service as average . We were still hungry and ordered a pizza from Farina Pizza to eat after dinner.
I have always loved Miku for atmosphere, service and food.and cocktails. So disappointed with Minami . Why go back when sister restaurant Miku never disappoints.
First visit to Minami. Initial impression was a room with stark lighting. The room was on the loud end of the noise spectrum. Food was very good but the sushi was not prepared to order. The beer was super cold. Service was very good but not exceptional. Sable fish and rib steak main dishes were very good. Would like to compare this with Tojo’s
We had a delightful evening. Tracy, our server, was outstanding.
Best sushis ever, quality and taste is there. Only thing is not much sushi variety on the menu but i guess thats why its soo good.
awesome food and service. great location , ambience .
Great experience with yummy food and ambiance
Nothing special with their food. Salmon oshi was very basic.
