Milwaukee ChopHouse Ratings and Reviews
The service was wonderful and the food so very, very good. We love the atmosphere also. We love dining here. It is truly a very special restaurant. Only complaint is the bar is too small. We stood and had a cocktail before dinner but no place to sit at a table or bar. Otherwise, wonderful dining...
This is my go-to-spot when I'm in town visiting my son who's in college. We've tried other steakhouses in the past and they're either pretentious or overpriced or both relative to the Chophouse which just seems to have the right combination of humility and quality.
Restaurant has a pleasant soothing ambiance. Service was impeccable. Good wine list with reasonable bottle prices. The bread was very good (fully crusted not sliced). The crust was not too hard, soft inside and fairly light. It comes with regular butter, bleu cheese butter, a tomato spread, and dipping oil. The regular butter and dipping oil were as one would expect. The bleu cheese butter had a good flavor and was not overpowering. I did not care for the tomato spread, but that was on me (not a tomato fan) not the spread.
I had the 10oz Heritage filet requested medium-rare. It was done perfect. It was extremely tender (barely had to put pressure on the knife) and melted in my mouth. The flavor was exquisite, made even better by the mixture they brush on top. The waitress explained what it was, but I have forgotten. I believe it was butter, salt, pepper, and perhaps shallots.
My companion had the New York Strip requested medium-rare, and added the Oscar. It was a bit over cooked and a little tougher than it should have been, but by no means inedible. She felt the flavor was "ok". The crab cake was delicious, the asparagus was good, but the Hollandaise was just so-so.
We split the trio of sides, which was more than enough for two. The baby carrots with maple, bourbon and cumin were out of this world, tender but with enough snap to not be soggy. The creamed corn was excellent. The creamed spinach was different than others I have had. It was not creamy in the usual sense (this is a little hard to explain), where your spinach is perhaps sauteed and then mixed with other ingredients to make it creamy, but to a consistency that holds it together and allows you to keep it on your fork. This was like sauteed spinach had a cream sauce added to it and lightly mixed. the bowl was full of liquid and it was drippy when you picked it up. I thought it tasted okay, her not so much.
Will be back to try other dishes. You cannot go wrong with the filet.
My wife and I had a great time. We were celebrating our 17th. year anniversary and could not ask for such a pleasant evening. We ordered the scallops for an appetizer, it was to die for. The steaks cooked to perfection, and the sides were great. To top it off our waiter Mitch found out we were celebrating our anniversary that night and gave my wife some chocolate cake and ice cream on the house. What else can a guy ask for. I thought the prices for the food was very reasonable. Thanks for a great time.
We came on a recommendation of one of our friends who was with us last Saturday, she has eaten here several times in the past. This experience was far from the great fine dining experience that we were expecting based on her past experiences. Not sure if I would go back. Presently waiting for a reply from management.
Amazing time at the Chophouse. Pre-cocktail drinks were very well prepared. Server, Megan, did an outstanding job. Started with warm bread and three delicious butters and olive oil. Had a three scallop appetizer cooked perfectly. Skipped the soup/salad round to have more room for the delicious entrees, I had a six oz filet with a lobster tail and DH had the 18oz bone in ribeye, both cooked spot on. We shared a trio of sides; asparagus, mushrooms and mashed potato. After all of that and our tummys full, they surprised us with a rich chocolate cake with strawberries and ice cream. Our food and service outstanding and we will definitely return for another delicious anniversary meal.
I was very impressed with the manager who gave off "good energy" He made us feel special on our anniverary. Being from Racine we don't go to Milwaukee very often but our meal at the Chop House was worth the trip. We'll be back and recommend it ot our friends and business associates.
Friendly welcoming staff from the Hostess to the Bussers. Promptly seated upon arrival. Cocktales were wonderful, properly chilled and well balanced, the wait time between ordering and arrival was minimal.
Wait Staff was attentive without being smothering.
Food orders were accurately filled, presentation was excellent, quality was as is expected at a high end establishment. The bison tenderloin was perfection.
the only issue was it was so very cold from the moment we entered..
it cooled off the food immediately..all the women were huddled
and if they were lucky wore sweaters ...
I was cold even with mine and so was my husband with a sport coat..
yes there was someone there who actually had on a sport coat!!
To be honest - a steak house is usually the last place I'm interested in visiting. I love creative and /or ethnic cuisine and most steakhouse reputations go with the traditional fare. And while you can certainly find traditional fare at Milwaukee Chophouse, it is a step above in all areas. The food is exquisite starting with the various toppings for the bread, from a sun- dried tomato spread to blue cheese infused butter. The meat literally melted in your mouth and our seafood selection of scallops was well seasoned, served over a corn risotto that was the perfect accompaniment. The sides are ordered separately and ou excellent waiter steered us to the Tri-sample versus individual sides which was the perfect size for two and allowed us to sample three versus two overly large orders.
But truly the best part - the service. Having been to the other two Marcus restaurant Chophouses, I found this one far superior to the other two in every way - and particularly in attitude. While the other two take themselves a bit too seriously, this one was laid back, welcoming and had none of the usual snootiness seen elsewhere. Our waiter was friendly, personable and extremely welcoming. With reservations made on Open Table, everyone was aware that it was a Birthday celebration and that we wanted gluten- free options. It made the evening that much more enjoyable--and a gluten-free birthday dessert on the house, didn't hurt either!
The food was fabulous. Our service however was a little lacking. The staff was slow and disinterested with exception to the Maitre de. We were constantly waiting and looking for our staff. Not exactly the experience I was expecting. Every restaurant has bad nights, so I will not hold this against them. This was our first time there, so if it happens the next time, return visits will not be necessary.
I had the scallops. They were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of browning. I cook scallops at home, so I know how easy it is to overcook them, but these scallops were spot-on delicious. Served on a bed of perfect risotto and greens, it made for a wonderful meal.
My wife had the salmon, and she was equally impressed.
We would return to this restaurant in a heartbeat.
Our experience at the Chop House was fantastic! We went on a Friday night and it was much quieter than expected but it was a welcome treat! The food was beyond amazing and the service was fantastic! When making the reservation, I had asked if we could something special for my husband's birthday and I feel like they went above and beyond! Not only did every single person (wait staff and hostess) wish my husband happy birthday by name but the manager came to our table with 2 champagne glasses and again, wished him a happy birthday by name.
Honestly, amazing food and fantastic ambience! Our waiter, Mitch, was beyond attentive - fantastic service! Cannot say enough good things about this place!
Went for my wife`s birthday, we both had Filet`s and they were really great! Twice baked potato`s were very good along with the asparagus. Of course the cocktails were really good too. We have been to The Chop House in Lake Geneva and really enjoyed that also, but would definitely recommend the Milwaukee Chop House.
One of the best steaks we've had in Milwaukee - you can cut the filet with a fork and the flavor was amazing! Everything about the Chophouse was top-notch - food, service, ambiance. My only recommendation would be to close the door to the hotel entrance; the noise level coming from Miller Time Pub was a bit loud at times. But it didn't deter us from having a great dinner experience. WE WILL COME BACK!
Leilani, the Bartender was my server. She was incredible. I ordered 3 appetizers for my meal. The Beet Salad, Oysters, and Wagyu Beef. Wow. Everything was plated so nice and tasted delicious! Each item was served at the perfect time. Leilani also made a perfect wine suggestion for me. I highly recommend this restaurant!
My wife and I chose Milwaukee Chophouse for our anniversary dinner. We were in Milwaukee on a business trip and were very pleased with out dinner selection. We were honored with Champaign, enjoyed a most succulent filet, sampled a trio of incredible side items (lobster mac, green beans and creamed spinach, topping off the dinner with a delicious Tiramisu and Irish Rumchata.
The restaurant was surprisingly not as busy as expected.
We certainly recommend this restaurant and will be sure to visit again in the future.
The staff was very friendly and wished my daughter a happy 21st birthday. They were also accommodating, had to move reservations last minute to 6:45.
Joe, our server, was very good. He was attentive, yet not hovering and, had a great sense of humor. The food was very good, love having the baked sweet potato option as a side.
And the chocolate cake was incredible!
