Great night out celebrating our retirements! From start to finish it was a very enjoyable evening!
Everything was basically fine, however, things seemed a bit understaffed. Our waiter did well, but some things were slow arriving, as he had too many tables to manage effectively. We had asked for glasses of wine with diner and we were almost finished when they arrived, he did take them off the bill but I didn't even finish mine, since I was nearly finished my entrée. At a restaurant like this, one does not want t rush, but there were a number of 5pm reservations that all arrived together and everyone had to wait to be seated as the dining room was not yet set up. The waiter went into a long explanation as to how a large party came for brunch at 1:30pm and were very late leaving. I understand that, but 3 1/2 hours ? There were a number of things such as bread and additional water , accompaniments for coffee/tea, that we had to ask several times for. Seemed a little disjointed and not as seamless as in the past. The crab soup was exceptional.
We had not been here before our visit this evening. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of food and the service we received. We both had items from the specials. The corn chowder was exceptional. My wife had the Steak and Cake and I had the Rack of Lamb. Both were delicious and well prepared. It was a Groupon that brought us here and I’m happy we visited.
Milton Inn has a reputation for excellent food that is worth the higher price and great atmosphere.
Our Brunch was expensive, our server was charming and attendant in just the right way.
However, the food was forgettable - perhaps their diners and luncheons are better?
My quiche could have been brought pre-baked from a vendor and taken out of the freezer.
The salad was nothing special with a basic flavorless dressing.
The two Benedicts for our party were only acceptable and nothing special.
No one finished their omelettes.
I had special requested we sit in the main formal dining-room and was not notified that the room was not available as they had a large pre-booked party.
We are spoiled with great restaurants in the Baltimore area and Gertrude's, fore instance, would have been a far better choice, the Oregon Grill or Manor Tavern.
We were on the lovely patio. The food was fabulous, our waiter was superb and the weather was perfect. Great date night!
My husband and I had a lovely evening last Thursday, taking advantage of a Groupon which helped with the overall enjoyment of the meal! We chose a bottle of wine and found many reasonably priced options. I enjoyed ordering "small plates" which were delicious, allowed me to try more than one choice and were a good value. My husband was very satisfied with his seafood meal. Very positive experience.
Food and drinks are so amazing cream of crab soup a favorite Kentucky charm cocktail a must and filet with crab cake over the top
Very nice place to enjoy a casual meal
Food generally good not outstanding. Fish a bit crusty and done with no imagination. Waiter a bit slow and never ever smiled. For that much $$ I expect excellence not just OK
Overall, you pay a lot but you do get a lot in return. The grits were a bit chewy and tough for my taste, but maybe some people like them that way. Other than that, the meal was quite good--again, it is pricey, but the ambiance and service and drinks are excellent, so worth it for a special occasion.
It was an average meal and very expensive. The crab soup was delicious but the entrees were not worth the expense. A nice historic atmosphere.
Excellent meal
Dined with my wife on a recent Saturday evening. Had advanced reservations for 5:30 (that's when they open for dinner), yet were informed that they weren't "quite ready" (?) and had to wait in the lounge for another 20 minutes before we were finally seated. The plusses - Luke, our server, was excellent; the cream of crab soup and NY strip Oscar style were fantastic; my wife's entrée - the Caprese salad was "just ok - nothing special".
Good food great service nice atmosphere but a little pricey.
The Milton Inn is wonderful for classic fine dining on a special occasion. It is a little hard to justify the prices. Was my filet delicious? Yes. Was it that much better than a place where I can get it for at least $10 less? No. However, the service is superb and that is part of what you're paying for.
Love this place! I have written so many nice reviews, in the past, so will refrain this time. But, I do wish it had the pris fixe lunch menu — I brought many guests over the years. I do miss that! Due to the snowstorm, I was phoned to tell me that it would be closed on Wednesday night, the date of my original res. That is class! Thanks for the most lovely venue in the area. Keep it going, please!
Birthday for girlfriend , It was very nice however a little pricey
Red curried mussels excellent and seafood andor superb!!
Everything at the Milton Inn tonight was excellent. The service, the food, and the ambience were all what I was expecting. I had the chicken trentino while my guest had the rack of lamb. Everything was done to perfection. The only problem I had was finding the front door when we first arrived, so I took a picture of it for next time.
Dined on a recent Sunday evening. We are frequent patrons and tonight's experience fell well short of what we are typically used to at the Inn. The positives - our server, Ousmane, was his usual superb waiter; my NY strip Oscar style and cream of crab soup excellent as usual. The disappointments - my wife's 6oz lobster was much smaller than usual, our sautéed mushrooms arrived cold, and the rolls were shrunken in comparison to just two weeks ago when we last dined there. Please bring back the portions and consistent quality that we have come to expect at your restaurant. At these prices, there shouldn't be "off" nights.
Birthday, lots of fun
Very good seafood. Excellent service. Lovely setting. Good wine list. Expensive.
we had a lovely meal here for date night. great service and wonderful food. there were so many choices on the menu! the filet with crab cake was great and so was the venison. portions were really big. i would definitely come back here!
On our annual trip to Baltimore, we have a handful of "must go" restaurants, the Milton Inn has always been one of them. Consistent perfection in food, service & atmosphere (hugely appreciated historic value) is worth the drive, so good!
The ambiance of the Milton inn is hard to beat. A very tenured wait staff ensures great service and familiarity. Small plates has been a great addition. You go dine or for a quick bite. However the quality is the same.
The menu offers a wide variety with all the seafood, beef, and chicken dishes we tried excellent and memorably tasty. The service was helpful, quick to anticipate needs, while being unobtrusive. The experience made for a lovely birthday celebration. While a bit pricey, it was worth the experience.
As always the Milton Inn delivers. It is expensive special occasion place, but the food is always impeccable. The service on Sunday was a little marred by the fact that our coats were not picked up immediately and the dinner felt just a tad rushed. But as always, we will be back.
Food and service are always outstanding! Our favorite server is Oosman. It’s not something we can afford to do every week; but, certainly a wonderful treat for special occasions.
Place has become hit or miss. When it hits it’s great but it misses far too often. This time was a miss... First the positive, the bartender is awesome. Most of the food was good. Steak and salmon cooked nice but lacked seasoning. Brussels Sprouts were inedible. Hostess was cold and waiter had no personality.
Great meal and ambiance for a special occasion.
If you enjoy eating an overpriced meal in a dilapidated old house, this is the place for you. I had been there several years ago and swore I would never go back. My husband and I received a $200 gift certificate so we went again. I consider the food average. We didn't get anything extravagant, and it ended up costing us $20.00 plus the $200.00 certificate.
If you are okay paying $14 for soup and $17 for an appetizer than this restaurant is fantastic. The food, service and ambience are all excellent! We even had a seat near the fireplace which was great. We both ate every bite but the prices were a bit too steep for me. The wine was reasonable.
Have dined there several times - service and food consistently good. Keep Milton Inn for a special occasion as they are expensive. Probably would not have chosen to go there but for a groupon that I purchased.
The food was amazing, the service was great, perfect for special occasions!
Food quite good but very pricy. Most entrees $40 or more.
Pleasantly surprised! Food excellent , great service, the whole evening was wonderful! Great way of celebrating my husband's birthday!
One of our favorite "fine dining" spots. Professional servers. Great presentation and complete menu.
Our waiter Sunday night was exceptional. He was very attentive and offered good choices in main course and wine selections. We hope he will be our waiter the next time we visit the Milton Inn.
The food was fantastic as always at the Milton Inn. The service was great as well. I am never disappointed when I eat at the Milton Inn. The food, service and atmosphere are always top notch.
Cheryl our waitress was great(as usual), but our food was much saltier than usual. We probably should have said something, but chose not to on this occasion. Otherwise, it was another great experience.
