Fun special occasion place for many decades. Friendly yet expert staff. Traditional menu, but with updates. Overall excellent. Expensive, but it should be.
We love the Milton Inn-food and service are the best
I am so happy this culinary institution is in my new neighborhood. I plan to come again and again. The food and atmosphere are divine.
The atmosphere is great. Professional staff. Food is incredible. Believe the hype. Seems a little slow, but you can tell they put a lot of thought/detail into their approach to food.
The Milton Inn is one of my favorite restaurants. The short ribs I had on my most recent visit were excellent. Our waiter (Tom) is always terrific, as are the other servers. The ambiance is cozy - I love the fireplace. Brian, the owner, pays attention to the details and it shows. I love this place!
Had a great evening with family. Watching the snow fall outside. The only thing that was wrong was the rude person we happened to be sat next to.
Excellent food! Great nostalgic atmosphere! A++
I've always loved the Milton inn so I was excited to take my fiancé there for his birthday. Requested nice table not crammed next to people and was taken upstairs where the table next to us consisted of couple with toddler. So much for the romantic special ambiance. When waitress ( who never mentioned name) finally approached us, we had waited approximately 15 minutes and were ready to order appetizer and drink. She informed us in a very matter of fact condescending tone that that was not the way they did it. They preferred to take entire order at once. I said I'd like to get a drink but don't want to order one without a little food and she acted very put out but said she would check with the chef. We were so mad at this point we actually considered just walking out but when she came back and said they could make an exception, we decided to go ahead and order entire meal. My fiancé had a question about the short rib, whether it was on the bone and the waitress merely said, I don't know. Not " I'm sorry let me go check," but just I don't know. We ordered and ate and sat with dirty plates in front of us without her returning once to see if we needed anything. I finally flagged her and asked for the check to which she said oh do you want coffee? By then we just wanted to get the hell out of there and tell everyone to join us in never wasting our money there again. Ruined the night! Never felt so disrespected in a restaurant before.
Just very pricey for what you get....need to have some lighter options. Last two times we went were “stuck” in back room behind bar. Not near as nice as other rooms ...tight and small.
All n all, though, probs the nicest place in Baltimore Cnty for a special occasion dinner.
My boyfriend and I went to celebrate Valentine's day, the service was impeccable, our waitress was attentive without smothering or hovering. The food arrived promptly and was hot and tasted delicious. The only downfall was that they had sold out of the dessert that we originally wanted but the one we chose was just as good. The atmosphere within the restaurant and outside was cozy and charming. 10/10 would definitely recommend to friends and family.
The lounge area was MUCH nicer before they added 3 televisions!
Love, love, love Milton Inn! Always spectacular and never disappoints.
I was very disappointed in the seating arrangements. This restaurant is known for it's Victorian charm. We did not get to enjoy this as we were seated in a section of the restaurant that reminded me of a woodshed. The seating was too close & very inconvenient. We had to slide our table to the side in order for the people sitting next to us to go to the restroom. Our waitress had to lean across the table to serve my wife & the guest sitting next to us. A good potion of my night was spent leaning to my left in order to make room for the waitress as she was struggling to do her job. If this were my first experience at The Milton Inn, It would not have left a good impression. We did not enjoy our night at this restaurant for this special occasion.
The food was delicious and our waitress very personable and professional.
service has never been that great
theres no recommendations of menu or small talk made.
Wonderful filet and crab. Veggies a bit undercooked. Drinks superb.
Food is always spectacular! Appreciate the affordable wine list; especially since the meals are pricey.
The food was impeccable. Our server was very good, but she was the only one in our dining area (fireplace room), and so the wait was a little longer than we preferred. Also, we waited quite awhile from appetizer to entree. The clams casino and oyster imperial were delicious for our appetizer. For our entrees, the rockfish and rack of lamb were succulent and very well presented. The lamb could have been hotter, but the taste was still wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant, but be aware that the service is a bit lacking with wait times a bit too long.
This was our first trip and very disappointing. Our server greeted us without a wine list or specials, both of which he had to retrieve separately. By itself, these are not a big deal, but it should have been an indication of things to come. The service overall was very slow. We like a slower pace, especially at this price point. The Prime Rib in Baltimore does it best, this was just slow, period. The Maryland Crab soup was very full of crab meat, but the vegetable broth was among the poorest tasting I have ever had. Once I finished the several lumps of backfire, I left the remainder of the soup. My Filet Chesapeake special, medium rare, was not of a high enough caliber to be served at Outback, and it was medium well at best. The crab cake was average. My wife's tuna was also very tasteless as were the short ribs another guest order. I will say that the rockfish special ordered by the fourth guest was very good and clearly the plate we should have all ordered.
I am really not that picky, my wife and I met as servers in a restaurant, but between the slow service and the lukewarm and mostly poor food, I cannot recommend this for a $450 dinner for four.
Heard of this place through a friend, so decided to take my wife here for her birthday and we were very impressed with the ambiance, quality of food, and level of service. Definite recommend for friends and we plan on returning soon.
