The Milton Inn, a 276 year old field-stone building in Northern Baltimore County,is counted among Maryland's historic treasures. It is believed that construction of the Inn began in 1740 and it has grown and changed over the years to become one of the premier country dining spots in the United States. The tradition of excellence has continued to grow under the current ownership Milton Fare Inc, who purchased the business in 1997. Executive Chef/Owner Brian Boston was named Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Maryland in 2011.Chef Boston has also received many other awards including The Five Star Diamond Award by The Academy of Hospitality Sciences , The DiRoNA Award,and top ratings from Zagat. The Milton was named The Best restaurant in the Counties by The Baltimore Sun . Over the years , the Inn has engendered a legacy of romance and numerous couples have become engaged in its candlelit dining rooms and open air garden terrace. Many return year after year to celebrate!

The food is fantastic and the restaurant is beautiful. It is truly a 5 star restaurant. Also the service is exceptional.

Fun special occasion place for many decades. Friendly yet expert staff. Traditional menu, but with updates. Overall excellent. Expensive, but it should be.

The food at the Milton Inn is always very good. Presentation beautiful, atmosphere lovely. The food is served on hot plates, however I had a steak and cake (fillet and crab cake with béarnaise sauce) and had to send my crabcake back because it was not hot. Concerning because when I placed my order The only request I made was to have my food very hot. Another member of our party order the same thing. They requested to have their fillet cooked medium. It was cooked medium well. They elected not to say anything about it, stated that although it was overcooked to their liking it still had great flavor. My fillet was cooked perfectly.

The atmosphere is great. Professional staff. Food is incredible. Believe the hype. Seems a little slow, but you can tell they put a lot of thought/detail into their approach to food.

The Milton Inn is one of my favorite restaurants. The short ribs I had on my most recent visit were excellent. Our waiter (Tom) is always terrific, as are the other servers. The ambiance is cozy - I love the fireplace. Brian, the owner, pays attention to the details and it shows. I love this place!

I've always loved the Milton inn so I was excited to take my fiancé there for his birthday. Requested nice table not crammed next to people and was taken upstairs where the table next to us consisted of couple with toddler. So much for the romantic special ambiance. When waitress ( who never mentioned name) finally approached us, we had waited approximately 15 minutes and were ready to order appetizer and drink. She informed us in a very matter of fact condescending tone that that was not the way they did it. They preferred to take entire order at once. I said I'd like to get a drink but don't want to order one without a little food and she acted very put out but said she would check with the chef. We were so mad at this point we actually considered just walking out but when she came back and said they could make an exception, we decided to go ahead and order entire meal. My fiancé had a question about the short rib, whether it was on the bone and the waitress merely said, I don't know. Not " I'm sorry let me go check," but just I don't know. We ordered and ate and sat with dirty plates in front of us without her returning once to see if we needed anything. I finally flagged her and asked for the check to which she said oh do you want coffee? By then we just wanted to get the hell out of there and tell everyone to join us in never wasting our money there again. Ruined the night! Never felt so disrespected in a restaurant before.
