The best food! Fried green tomatoes are extraordinary! I am not big on shrimp and grits with tomato but very good nonetheless. Best key lime pie! Our server, Jason, was the utmost in being unobtrusive...yet always there when needed! Thank God! A server with intelligence, style and discretion! We were also welco.ed and shown to our table immediately! With reservations! Most places make you wait...how refreshing is this wonderful elegant service! Always a customer...never disappoints!

This was a perfect place to take my friend for her Birthday Dinner! So many dishes sounded good, we had trouble deciding. The Oyster Salad was yummy, good portion, oysters were cooked perfect. I want to go back for the Chicken Livers. The Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce was divine!

My steak was overdone, served as two thin pieces and general not even close to the same steak my wife had ten days earlier. Very disappointing.

My husband and I went to Milner’s for our second wedding anniversary. He ordered the pot roast and it was as tasty as always. I ordered the NC Trout and it was just ok. I think that the fish was previously frozen. The breadcrumbs on top were the wow factor. The fish itself was a little dry, especially towards the ends. The collards were amazing. For the first time, the Mac and cheese was just ok.

II would definitely go again but order a different item from the menu.

Wonderful food in comparison to the decor which is a bit dingy for the caliber of food. The food is some of the best I have had in Winston-Salem in flavor combos. Great place to meet a friend for a private dinner and also has a large bar. Avoid the garlic shrimp small plate which is a bit bland and has tomatoes.

Food and service were great. Were seated near jazz band so conversation was difficult. They started playing after our meal started so we we're unable to switch tables.

Thankful for a professional waiter. Told him of food allergies and he clearly communicated to kitchen staff. Took three attempts to get my meal correct; meanwhile my wife had finished her meal.

The NC trout was hands down the best piece of fish I have ever tasted and I am still dreaming about it a day later. The collard greens and chutney is a wonderful surprise on an old classic, it truly blew my mind. Don’t let the less than wonderful bread and hard as rock butter balls steer you away, the entrees are out of this world.

This was the first time I'd had dinner. Usually I've met friends for lunch. But the dinner menu had an excellent variety of choices with my dinner partner choosing the Caesar Salad. Granted that isn't the most unique dish on the menu
...Hahaha...but what was a delightful surprise is that Milner's (per my companion's request) put a generous amount of ANCHOVIES on top! Traditionally the original Caesar Salad did not have anchovy paste in the Caesar Salad dressing nor any anchovies on top but ... I'm a big fan of the tang that anchovies bring to that dish... so again...that was a lovely surprise.
My dish of choice was the duck breast. It came with a sweet potato/fresh cut corn side that was delicious but the duck wasn't as tender as I would've liked.
All in all, however, the service was perfect, the food was tasty, and the coffee was strong. There happened to be an excellent Jazz group playing as well which added up to a enjoyable evening out.

A couple of us had the Moravian cookie crusted salmon, which was delicious! One got pot roast that he said was very good. Another got the pork chop and said it was delicious, as well. All was cooked perfectly. Sides were excellent - loved the sautéed spinach!

Milner's is a go to place for great service and great food. Starting from a friendly greeting at the door to a thank you as you leave. It's good for special occasions, anniversaries or a special night. A huge wine list and informed servers who can help cater wine to your meal if you're a new wine drinker or and experienced one. Yes, it can be an expensive place but you don't go there for a quick and cheap meal. You go there for an experience. If you are looking for a nice high end dinner in Winston Salem and you overlook Milner's, you are making a mistake.

After making plans to be in the area, I made reservations for us since it was Mother's Day. Our waiter, Jason, made our experience very enjoyable with his confidence in choosing our cocktails and excellent service throughout the meal. The duck was cooked exactly as ordered and the array of small plates we shared were different and delicious; All with their own southern flair. The quail was cooked to perfection- succulent! The fried green tomatoes, scallops and hand cut fried potatoes full of flavorful toppings did not dissapppint! The live jazz was the perfect accompaniment to our meal.

Not sure if it was because of Mother’s Day, the restaurant service was sub par and the food was average. Perhaps I may try it on a different day.

Our celebration dinner honoring our college graduate, her sister's birthday, and Mothers' Day could not have been better. Jason, our server, should be the poster child for impeccable service that others in the industry should emulate. He rolled with the best of our slightly crazy group, matching wits with them, raising an eyebrow with a smile as we all took turns throwing shade on each other, and made a point to honor our honorees. He graciously took care of special requests and was never intrusive, but mindful of when glasses needed refilling, dinners were completed, etc. Even had the food had not been stellar, his service would have been reason enough to visit. Speaking of food, I can only speak for my meal--the salmon. It was wonderful. The crust presented flavors unusual to me but worked well with the fish. I think some of the burgers were a bit less done than the people wanted, but with only one exception, meals were eaten in their entirety. The exception was the most petite member of our group who hardly eats enough to stay upright (considering the rest of us could be described as "well-nourished;") her salad and fried pickles were good but the generous portions overwhelmed her--much to the glee of the rest of us who gladly ate what she didn't! Pricewise, it was reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. It is not Olive Garden or Carabbas, so plan ahead so you won't be washing dishes. There are options available for all price points. Thank you Milner's for capping off/starting our days of celebration, and thanks again Jason for making our evening even more enjoyable.
