Milner's American Southern
Lovely evening with old friends made special because of great food, service and very good wine list. We wanted an upscale atmosphere that wasn't "fussy." Milner's always hits the mark.
Our food was absolutely great and so was our server. It was a special occasion and although it was the day after Valentine's Day and very busy the pacing was perfect and my roast duck was perfection. Also, loved my bourbon apple brown sugar martini. Wow.
Everything exceeded my expectations except the lighting in the dining area where we were seating. It was quite bright, even a bit glaring.
Great all around!
Great place for Valentines Day dinner!
Food was excellent and our waitress, Susan, was outstanding.
This was our second visit to Milner's and will not be our last. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable on the food and drinks. He was very pleasant and was always there to check on us. Food was exceptional! I had the salmon and my husband had steak. We will definitely be back to enjoy their delicious food.
Great food as always here!
We had a very gracious and knowledgeable server who patiently answered questions without making us feel foolish (we’re from out of town and were unfamiliar with some of the traditional southern dishes). Other staffers equally pleasant and welcoming.
That service, combined with the homey comfortable feel of the interior, made for a relaxing meal.
Enjoyed most the she crab soup, fried pickles, and the pecan pie.
I was able to snatch a last-minute reservation and it did not disappoint. Would highly recommend.
Great Food and Service.
Great menu, excellent food, wonderful service! Wish we lived closer!!
We reserved a table early and we got a very good location. Service was quick and thoughtful. In spite of crowded restaurant our orders arrived very quickly. Food was excellent. My fried oysters were just the way I like them—crisp outside and juicy inside. Prefectly cooked.
ALWAYS a special dining experience!!! Excellent food and service!
Always great food and great service! When we go to Milner's we are never disappointed. I do recommend reservations.
We really enjoyed your dinner. As usual. Thank you
I requested a booth as my husband is hard of hearing, and we were given one. The problem was that the shutters that separate the booth from the bar area don't restrict the noise coming from there, so it was still loud. I suggest that they put glass windows there instead of shutters.
Jason has been our waiter on frequent occasions, and the service that he always gives us is outstanding.
I always use Open Table. It makes reserving a table a breeze.
The food was delicious as always and Jason did an amazing job and took great care of us
Although the over all rating of this restaurant is lower than I had anticipated, it was a pleasant experience. I had one of the specials, the blackened mahi which was prepared nicely. However the pairing of the side dishes, grits and collard greens left me lacking.
Our waiter was some what annoying constantly interrupting conversation to ask if our empty glasses needed refilled.
I have had this waiter before and paid cash. Twice he has brought back incorrect change and when called out about it said he wasn’t very good at counting change. This time I paid with a card.
Excellent food and excellent service! The Milner's are great chef's....love their dishes!
Milner’s never disappoints. Amazing food and service.
Reservation was made on OpenTable two weeks in advance for a 50th birthday dinner. During the online reservation process, OpenTable asks if we are celebrating a special occasion such as birthday, anniversary, etc. I indicated online that we were celebrating a special birthday, both on the automated response and in the comment field.
When we arrived, we asked for one of the open booths and were told that they were reserved and I could have asked for a booth when I reserved my table. I asked how one would reserve a booth as I didn't know it was possible. I was told it was done either on the phone or on the app itself in the comment field.
Moving ahead, dinner was good. The filet was cooked properly and delicious, as always, but the brussel sprouts with bacon was disappointing as I saw only a few small pieces of bacon on the plate. Dinner progressed and there was no mention at all from the server regarding our celebration and I didn't want to point it out as I wanted it to be discreet, but acknowledged. Apparently the comments on the online reservation are noted if you want a booth, but not if you are celebrating a milestone birthday at their establishment. That was a disappointment.
The fried chicken with tomato gravy is just ridiculously yum.
Our server, Jason, was outstanding. He was very polite and knowledgable about the menu. And the food was absolutley delicious.
The food was ok. We were the second table seated for dinner service and the two of us were seated next to a table of 6 boisterously celebrating a birthday. The whole restaurant was available but we were seated next to the loud group and my seat stared straight at a large black trash can and broom. Oh well. I guess it was going to get busy and a good table couldn’t be spared.
"Thought everything about the place was wonderful..food was amazing and the service was excellent. Kristen was our waitress and she was so friendly and so very kind! Highly recommend this restaurant! :D
Even with reservations we were seated at a table in the middle of the room next to a large rather noisy party. Would have preferred a more isolated booth. There were 2 available nearby and I wish I had requested to be moved because people were seated there after us. Would have thought reservations would have meant better seating.
Food was delicious/ service good except my husband ran out of water.
This restaurant looks understated from the outside, and the interior is a little dated. However, we liked that they seated us next to the fireplace. The food is delicious, as are the cocktails. I highly recommend their "New Old Fashion." We loved all our food, from the fried pickles (best we have ever had; lightly fried), to the braised short ribs and steak. The food is simple and done very well. We have started to visit Winston-Salem and often stay overnight so the drive to Hanging Rock State Park is not too far. We'll definitely be back to Milner's. I plan on trying their fried chicken next!
Food was delicious, wait time was perfect.
It was a little loud when we walked in but they moved us to a nice quiet section in the back. We enjoyed our food and had wonderful service but we felt that it was too overpriced. I wish they had their fireplace going but for some reason only had the pilot light lit. Overall a good experience for Friday night. Mostly older couples which we like because it’s not crazy and loud.
Food was good / service too / good atmosphere but a bit pricey...
Menu sounds good but execution wasn't great. The Bruschetta was soggy and had too much garlic. The crab cakes were bland and had no texture or crunch. We didn't stay for dessert.
Could’ve been more festive for New Year’s Eve, but it was very very nice.
Great food. Waiter was polite and attentive. Food was great
New Year’s Eve dinner was spectacular!
This was our first visit to Milner's and it was Excellent all the way around!
Milner’s is always a guaranteed favorite place to go with family and friends! I have seriously never had a bad experience there. Our server was wonderful and very friendly. This last trip I tried the Yellow Fin Tuna ceviche and it was hands down the best I’ve had. Of course - the collard greens and Mac and Cheese are ahhh...mazing too! Highly recommend!
Filet was excellent. Service very good. Checked on us just the right amount. Nice quiet atmosphere.
Delicious food and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed it with our family.
Went with a group of friends for a holiday dinner, and it was great! Our server was outstanding and the food delicious! The ceviche was fabulous!!
