Great service and a lovely birthday dinner
While the view is great the food was not good at all...
We were initially seated at an unacceptable table but it was quickly remedied and we were moved to an outstanding table. The restaurant has awesome ambiance and the food was exceptional. Our only complaint was the waiter immediately recommended we each order the tasting menu with wine pairing for $250.. When we decided to simply order from the menu and enjoy a bottle of wine the waiters attitude changed completely. He then was cool and aloof and it diminished our dining experience somewhat. Despite this we would highly recommend this restaurant.
This is my 4th time here and have always had a great meal. It is one of my favorites.
Normally outstanding, our experience last Saturday night was not up to par at all. We were not given the table we requested a month out, the service was slow - we waited far too long for all our food. When it did arrive a couple of orders had to be sent back because they were wrong and then I had to remind the waitress to get them after nearly everyone else was already finished. While she did apologize, it really was not ok considering it was an almost $500.00 dinner. I will be back next weekend and I am hoping things are considerably better.
Excellent place and food, lovely waterfall view, obviously is on the pricey side, but no complains about the quality or the amazing servers, I feel like the entrees could be a big bigger given what you are paying, but then again, I feel that everywhere I go, so maybe is just me.
The food was great and the service fantastic. The atmosphere was nice as well.
My wife and I had a great time at Millwright's. The servers were attentive, the maitre-d provided us with a thorough description of our wine selection, and the food was fantastic (oysters, lobster bisque, swordfish, and scallops - we went all in on the seafood). I would highly recommend Millwright's for a nice Saturday night dinner.
Very nice experience. Ron, our waiter, was superb and engaging...a real pro. The seven course tasting menu was outstanding. Only one minor suggestion: the time between courses could be a bit shorter.
My experience on 10/6/18 was just about average. Very slow service from the time we ordered our meals. Had to order more wine waiting on our food. Also, I thought more than just a little bread should be offed while waiting for our appetizer which was a very small portion, too.
Lamb was okay, gnocchi didn’t even look like gnocchi. Average all around although waiting time was long for our meals.
Ambience was wonderful with the water fall views.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner with Ron as our waiter. He was very personable and accommodating. We did the tasting menu, and with the exception of one dish that I didn't care for personally (personal taste), the food was beyond amazing and the ambiance was lovely. We would definitely go back for another special occasion!
We have been to Millwright's many times and it never fails to please. The food is always excellent in preparation, quality and presentation. And Service is always great as well.
The staff are very professional and genuine. The seasonal menu selections were outstanding. We never felt rushed and were treated like royalty every step of the way. They made a special occasion even better. Thank you.
Millwrights consistently has the best food in Htfd county, maybe the state. My lamb loin was perfectly done, with a lovely garnish to add flavor and interest. The starter heirloom tomato salad was fresh and very tasty. My dinner partner loved the tapioca custard starter. We will continue to return anytime we want a special meal.
Great brunch! Benedict is delicious!
Great location, wonderful service, and great food. Really great wine pairings. Beautiful presentation.
My favorite restaurant in CT. Ask for Ron to be your server and get the tasting menu.
My husband and I have been to all of Chef Tyler’s other restaurants but we truly saved the best for last. Millwrights did not disappoint- we celebrated our 3 year anniversary with incredible food, great service and a wonderful experience. Ron, our server, encouraged us to try the tasting menu and we were so glad we did. Our favorite dish was the tapioca - the lamb was also incredible! Such a great value for the price and amount of food that you get with each course. We look forward to going back very soon!
This was our second meal at Millwright’s in two months. Both were special occasions, which were nicely acknowledged at the restaurant.
During both visits, we did the tasting menu. What a great adventure! We tried familiar foods, along with some we had never tried before. All were prepared in creative, yet delicious, ways. I love that they use the local farms for food when possible.
My husband prefers beer, so, rather than matching wines to the dishes, our waiter brought beers that would enhance them. I was provided with a marvelous mocktail, a welcome change from my usual ginger ale/ginger ale with fruit juice option at most restaurants and events.
As to the staff: Ron, our head waiter, and his waitstaff were terrific: informative, non-invasive, and prompt. Chef Tyler, besides creating the amazing dishes, kindly accommodated a food sensitivity, which was greatly appreciated. And, finally, a shoutout to Kristen, the dessert queen, who gave me some handy hints on making a Pavlova.
Thanks, guys! We look forward to returning!
Limited and boring menu. Hard to find something healthy to eat. Disappointing.
The atmosphere is always inviting. The food was not as good as the last time I was there. Still a good restaurant.
Millwright's is always excellent. You will not have a better dining experience with the food, service and ambiance. The staff is on top of their every detail and task.
From start to finish the entire experience is 5 stars.
The meal itself was outstanding. The salmon was the best salmon we have ever had. We asked how the Salmon was cooked - the waiter said it was roasted - no way it was solely roasted, as it was cooked perfectly.
The cucumber, tomato, and onion salad perfectly complimented quinoa. The other meal we had was the Halibut - very good, but not close to the salmon.
The cheese platter left much to be desired, although it was a thoughtful cheese selection. At other restaurants in the same class, cheese platters had an assortment of candied nuts, fruit, honeycomb, etc. The cheese platter here had just a schmear of honey and strawberry jam (don't get me wrong, they were very good).
The panna cotta dessert was delicious. The restaurant was made aware it was our anniversary and added an nice touch with a chocholate "happy anniversary" on the dessert plate.
The chocolate mint truffles that came with the check were a nice touch!
Was our 3rd visit to Millwright, and have never been disappointed. We brought my sister who had never had a "high end" dining experience and she was overwelmed, and very very happy with the
food, ambience and service. It is a memory she will not forget. Both my sister and I had just retired and my husband had requested a table with a view. It was perfect as was the lovely card Millwright gave use
for the occasion. This is a very special place, with excellent quality food and service.
We enjoyed our dinner. Food was very good and our waitress, Marie, was wonderful...very personable and knowledgeable. And the waterfall outside the window was beautiful. We will return.
Very good tasting menu with wine pairings. Great evening out for our anniversary. Tyler Anderson of Top Chef, Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay fame greeted us in his kitchen and spent time with us and other guests throughout the evening.
Just had an anniversary dinner there and it’s absolutey stunning. The food, the service, the ambiance... truly one of the best restaurants in the Hartford area and the prices are reasonable for what you get.
I love this restaurant, but always leave feeling a bit underwhelmed with the upstairs dining experience. Service was good, but a bit stiff, bordering on awkward. Corn chowder and crudo first courses were superb. Bass and scallop entrees were passable, at best. Certainly the most beautiful room/setting in the valley. We’ll be back, hoping to someday be “wowed.”
Food always excellent. Service as well. Beautiful overlooking the waterfall and nature in the river.
Bummer the scallops were sliced in 1/2:(
Otherwise food was outrageous. Server could have been a bit more attentive in checking in on us-how is meal? Drink refills? Water refill?
But Overall a great experience-lovely there was no music which made conversation very enjoyable instead of raising our voices!
Excellent food and service. Chef Tyler customized out seven course tasting menu due to dietary restrictions and it was phenomenal. Amazing dining experience.
Scenic view, wonderful staff, and delicious food. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely evening whilst celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. We opted for the tasting menu so we could explore the options and it didn't disappoint. The servings were consistently flavorful, beautify presented and satisfying. The staff also went the extra mile to offer us a nice table (there weren't any bad seats, but we were seated at a table for 4 so we could stretch out) and hand-written card for our anniversary. Thanks for a memorable evening, we will return.
Fantastic chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. Love to go here for any occasion or to make a night special for their tasting menu. Not cheap, but. It that expensive. Great food and can usually discover a new wine or pairing. Great service again tonight. ( Thanks Kevin and Bridget).
Very comfortable and casual yet classy restaurant; non-pretentious environment. Staff exceptionally well-trained and service oriented. The chef has a regional reputation and it shows in the preparation and presentation of the food.
Very dark and it was difficult to read the menu and see our food.
Millwright's never disappoints! From the warm cornbread with honey butter to the seasonal fruit zabaglione, our meal was splendid. We tried a sashimi appetizer that had several interesting flavors working together. Swordfish was perfect--done throughout, but moist and tender. Quail with plums was perfect for end-of-summer, aside from being delicious. We got the broccoli side with black rice--beautiful light char on the vegetables, something savory in the rice; had we had room, we might have reordered this side. Great service and atmosphere in the dining room, with a view out to what I imagine was the mill creek.
Wonderful food and wait staff. Have tried the tasting menu and also the regular menu and both were fabulous. Its a must!
Brought my wife's youngest brother and his wife to dinner while they were visiting from California. Had a wonderful meal with great service overlooking the mill pond. Great place to go for a special meal.
Consistently our favorite go to restaurant for special occasions. Great food, service and atmosphere. The tasting menu is a must.
