About Mill's Tavern
Taverns have had a constant important presence in American life since the late 1600's. Many of them, which were attached to inns, were opened as resting places for travelers needing a place to stop, relax and fortify themselves. Of course the local residents frequented the taverns too, purchasing drinks and meals as well as participating in lively conversations. Taverns were the focal point for neighbors to come together, exchange news, talk of politics, and share in the general feeling of conviviality. Taverns were firmly established as gathering places for the light hearted socializing, serious talk, and of course, a
hearty meal accompanied by a tasty libation or two.
In this American tradition, we at Mill’s Tavern welcome you with genuine enthusiasm. Our staff is warm, friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. So please come, relax, visit with friends and family. You will leave refreshed and nourished, body and soul.

Mill's Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations for the Vets the evening we visited Mills Tavern. Naomi and Steven ensured we had a fabulous dining experience and we never felt rushed. The meals were amazing... the quality of the food, the preparation and the flavors-all perfect. Thank you so much for a great evening. We will be back.
Mill's Tavern has been my "go-to" restaurant in Providence for years! I've never been disappointed. The food is always outstanding. The wait staff is knowledgeable, charming and yet respectful. Lynn, thank you. Mill's Tavern is why I don't need to try the new game in town.
Hosting a guest from out of town, I elected to take him and some coworkers to Mill's Tavern. The ambiance was nice, the food good, and best of all, it was very easy to hear one another. The real downside of the evening was that our server seemed to get distracted with the other table she was serving, such that the end of our meal was marred by moments of inattention. For example, we wanted dessert, but it looked for a bit as if we wouldn't get it because we just couldn't order it. And at the end of the meal, I had to get up from the table and ask for the check.
While the food was good, I didn't find it to be especially inventive. I don't think I'd go back because I tend to try different places.
We go to Mills a lot. Great food and great waiters!! James turned our night around for us, after we had a bad experience upon our arrival with a comment made by the manager there that night. Food was still amazing, so we were glad we stayed for that and our waiter!
Outstanding experience. Food, wine, dessert, service, atmosphere - hit on all cylinders. Have been trying different restaurants in Providence while son in college, and haven't really had a bad experience yet. But it's going to be tempting to stop exploring and just go back to Mill's Tavern next time in the area. So good.
We went to Mill's Tavern to celebrate a special occasion. I had been there before and had an enjoyable experience. This time however, the service was not very good. We were not offered bread as were other tables. Our waiter seemed to be pushing the more expensive appetizers, entres and wines. The filet mignon was not cooked as we requested. Despite not being crowded, it took a long time to get our drinks, appetizers and dinners. Not a very good experience this time around.
I chose Mill's Tavern to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had never been there for dinner before but wanted something classy and high end. Everyone from the valets, to the hostess/coat check person, manager and waiter were friendly and professional. The attention to detail was appreciated and the overall dining experience was exceptional. Of course, the food was the star of the show as was the dessert. I couldn't have picked a better place and it exceeded my expectations.
This was our first visit and we are glad we made the trip. The service was exceptional from the well versed and enthusiastic waiter to the promptness of the kitchen and the courtesy of the hostess. Loved the menu and could have ordered most anything as there were many fine choices. I like having somewhat more esoteric choices like venison, duck and lamb that I usually don't see at menus or get a chance to order. After a great meal, drinks and wine, we made room for a little desert which was even more incredible. At the waiters suggestion we tried the Afogato with a mini churro, awesome. Would highly recommend for either date night or a business meal.
Shane was a waiter and he made the experience AWESOME. It was a Saturday night dinner to enjoy elegant dining as a family. This is a white tablecloth restaurant with wonderful food and service--it feels like a vacation. Cocktails, appetizer, entrée, and dessert were all wonderful. Shane gave us fantastic recommendations. The service could not have been better.
Wonderful experience. The food was good. Slightly pricey but worth every cent. The flavors are delightful. The waiter was not as great as I would have liked. He was quite annoying and talked too much but the service was not terrible. The food made up for it all.
It was a dinner intended for a very special occasion. The Resturant itself looked nice, calm and quiet. Our waiter introduced himself and reviewed the menu. At one point shortly after our orders had been taken, the conversations from people at the bar were loud to the point where wife and myself did not feel comfortable. We both ordered steaks cooked medium with sides. My wife's was cooked perfect, mine was over cooked but because I had waited a while for my food and the poeple at the bar continued to be loud I did not bother mentioning it. I also did order a beer ginger drink, only to find out it was just plain ginger ale. Without knowing this my wife also ordered a beer ginger because her coke tasted flat. When her drink came back both of our supposedly beer ginger drinks looked completely different and the waiter did not notice. Once I finally flagged someone after minutes he told me that the drinks where ordered wrong and that my original drink had been plain ginger ale the whole time. So beetween my steak, the wrong drinks, noise level from the bar, and the waiter, I was not completely satisfied. For the price and special occasion I should've been. I never felt an apology from the waiter. Which also brings me to the point I feel that my waiter made more and better contact With my wife's side of the table. He also was hard to find at times, and it was not a busy night either. One last thing, during our dinner we spotted areas that had collected dust, not a good look. Thank you for you're time and reading my honest review.
Celebrated our son's 22nd birthday with friends. The menu was daunting at first but the waiter's explanation of their "most returned for" dishes helped focus our attention. The food was as good as described and the service was impeccable. It was a Sunday evening, so it was quiet, but we had a great time in our corner. The drinks were generous and properly mixed. A lot of fun!
The overall experience was nice and the food was good but not extraordinary. The calamari were very salty. The Portuguese bread pudding was no the best choice. The house salad was excellent. The prices for the quality of the food was high (100 per person). The waitress was super friendly and make our experience very pleasant.
This was our first visit to Mills Tavern, but won't be our last. Just a short hop from hotels in downtown Providence, the food, atmosphere and service were excellent. While a little pricey, portions were extremely generous. This would be an outstanding location for a special event, such as anniversary, birthday or a proposal!!
We went here for my 25th birthday celebration and they made sure it was a special dinner for us. It was just two of us, but we were sat at this beautifully large booth. It was a very intimate setting. Our food was absolutely delicious and everything was cooked perfectly. I cannot wait to come back!
Food was amazing as usual and staff was great. The seating was a little less than desirable. We had a party of 8 and were seated at a cramped table squeezed right against the door and corner. It was a bit uncomfortable. If it weren't so busy I would have asked for a different table. Ordered raw bar and drinks right away and didn't get our oysters until 30-40 minutes later. In their defense it was busy. The food, drinks and staff are all amazing so it did makeup for any inconvenience we experienced with the table and wait on the food. Would not hesitate to eat here again and have already recommended to friends.
