About Mill's Tavern
Taverns have had a constant important presence in American life since the late 1600's. Many of them, which were attached to inns, were opened as resting places for travelers needing a place to stop, relax and fortify themselves. Of course the local residents frequented the taverns too, purchasing drinks and meals as well as participating in lively conversations. Taverns were the focal point for neighbors to come together, exchange news, talk of politics, and share in the general feeling of conviviality. Taverns were firmly established as gathering places for the light hearted socializing, serious talk, and of course, a
hearty meal accompanied by a tasty libation or two.
In this American tradition, we at Mill’s Tavern welcome you with genuine enthusiasm. Our staff is warm, friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. So please come, relax, visit with friends and family. You will leave refreshed and nourished, body and soul.

Mill's Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately a hefty price tag does not guarantee quality.
My wife and I had a Roast Beet Carpaccio which was excellent.
We also both had the filet mignon and it was perhaps the toughest filet I have ever had.
Service was ok.
Left disappointed and probably won't be back.
The hostess was cold, almost hostile. The waitress was also kind of hostile. "Aggressive" was the word used by one of the people at my table. She took our friend's food away before she was finished, then got defensive when we said she was still eating. Not a relaxing dining experience at all. Very unfortunate considering the high prices.
This is our go to spot when we need something great and don't want to have to think about where to go. The service and food are always excellent. Management and servers always remember us and welcome us back. If you haven't tried this place out recently...stop waiting and do yourself a favor.
Excellent in every regard. I think the sides are overpriced and the cheese &chacutieri plate was pretty sparse for the price. Meals were excellent and I am fine, with the pricing. Excellent cuts of meat, cooked to perfection. I always have the duck and have never been disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fibe dining for a special occasion
Took the extended family and we were set up in one of their private rooms. Steaks and salmon were outstanding as were the side dishes and apps. Service was personal and professional. We had a party of ten, but it was easy as if it had been a party for two. Reasonable pricing given the high quality of the food. They have upped their game since my last visit, though I have always had good dinners and service at the Mills since it opened. Will go again without a doubt. Everyone was very pleased.
We go a few times per year and invited guests. We had 8:30 reservations and were seated after 8:30. The salad was very good but not generous to share. Get your own if you want more than two bites. The bread was ok.... a seasoned, softer dough. I asked for a more traditional crusty bread without seasoning and they did not have it. The entrees were delicious. I had the salmon while the others had veal chop, steak etc. all seemed satisfied. Not sure if they were understaffed this particular evening but the courses came out very slow. We never rush at dinner however we had 8 pm res and did not leave until 11:30. I think we were the last party left. Kind of unusual for Mill's. You won't be disappointed by the flavors .
My wife and I went to Mill's Tavern for her birthday. A little pricey but after tasting the food, it was well worth it . My wife had the Ginger Beer Braised Black Angus Short Ribs, and I ordered the House made Sun-dried Tomato Ravioli filled with Mushroom and Ricotta swimming in a Basil Spinach Pesto Cream Souse & Pecorino. The service, and the server was outstanding and she went out of her way to help us with dietary needs. I highly recommend the Mill's Tavern if your looking for a memorable dinning experience.
Even with the prix fixe menu I found the ratio of serving size to price a little expensive. The ingredients are good quality. Salads were average, main course good, dessert fantastic.
Nice wine list, good price point.
The dining room was beautiful (don't look up, the ceiling tiles look as if they'll fall in some spots). The bathroom was not dirty but not clean smelling and certainly not what you'd expect from a fine dining establishment.
The service was fabulous. Naomi was attentive but not cloying. we enjoyed our experience with her.
Overall a wonderful dinner. The only downside was one element of my Thai glazed duck breast dinner, the Confit Duck Rillett, came out cold. The waitress offered to warm it but I declined the offer and skipped that part. The bourbon braised chicken was amazing. The winner however was dessert. The creme brulee was one of the best preparations we've had, and the Portuguese sweet bread bread pudding is the best I've ever had. I've never had bread pudding so creamy and fall apart in your mouth. It almost had a custard like consistency. The pastry chef knocked those two dishes out of the park.
7:45 reservation but no table when we got there. Sent to the bar and proceeded to wait more than 10 minutes for the bartender (2 of them) to have time to come over. They were not overly busy but making drinks for the wait staff. Very nice once they got there but once they got there they provided a wine menu and we waited another five mins for him to get back to us. We finally say at about 820, and waited another ten minutes for waitress. I had to go flag down a waiter to get their attention. Once she got there she was exquisite. The food was dynamite, from the apps to the main course and about half way through we decided that despite the Service issues we would come back and soon.
This was our first time dining at Mill's, but we will absolutely be back! As soon as we walked through the door we felt welcome. The manager greated us with such a warm smile and enthusiastic attitude. The ambiance in the restaraunt was beautiful. Our waiter, Nick, knew the menu inside and out and was able to give us the perfect food and wine recommendations. The food was fantastic. The lobster cocktail, filet mignon and rack of lamb were cooked to perfection. The "affogato" for dessert was the perfect ending to our meal. We have already been spreading the word on how good our experience was and are looking forward to returning soon.
We have been to Mill's Tavern many times with great experience. However, the meal I had this past Thursday was well below par. I ordered the rack of lamb along with the lobster Mac 'n Cheese and asparagus. Not only was the lamb tasteless and dry, it was served at room temperature as was sides. When the waiter asked about our meals, I promptly pointed out how poorly prepared my and cold the meal was served. He took it back to the kitchen and five minutes later returned on a hot plate but with the meat still cold. REALLY!! Given their prices, shouldn't you expect meals served hot and fresh. The restaurant was very slow so you can't blame a harried kitchen. As with the rack of lamb, both the mac 'n cheese and asparagus where served at slightly warmer than room temperature. The waiter did comp us a round of champagne and a dessert.
There are way too many dining choices in the Providence area to have food served with the proper preparation. We will think again when Mill's Tavern is suggested.
First and foremost, our server, Nick, was EXEMPLARY. All the food was wonderful, but it is pricey, and you should be aware of that straight away. $14 for a side of asparagus seems quite ridiculous to me, and I'm not quite certain how I didn't spot that price prior to ordering. The mac n' cheese side was fabulous at $10. Tremendously overpriced, however, was the Lobster Tail appetizer at $29. Nothing to brag about and certainly not worth the money. Our entrees (Filet Mignon and Ribeye) were cooked to perfection and were very tasty. Dessert plates both read "Happy Anniversary" and were fantastic (Portuguese Bread Pudding and Japanese Cheesecake). All in all, it was a relaxing, romantic anniversary dinner....with a giant price tag.
Excellent in every possible way. Our server Lynne was wonderful, efficient and informative in describing various items on the menu. The menu changes seasonally, emphasizing what is fresh. Appetizers and entrees were simply superb. Desserts are all made in-house, and they are exquisite. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it is worth every penny!
An amazing experience. The food was delicious and our server Phil was outstanding. The restaurant is clean and upscale, elegant yet rustic. It was our anniversary and the team gave us toasting champagne and a special dessert presentation. We were blown away. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant.
Our service was excellent from the minute we walked in and we're seated. Three of us were celebrating my wife's birthday. Our server, Nick was very attentive and informative, describing the specials in detail and done menus highlights. Drinks and food were great. Even when one entree in our party received his item a little different than expected, it was " immediately" corrected with a sincere apology.
We've been to Mill's Tavern several times and have never been disappointed. The timing between courses was perfect which means the wait staff was paying attention. As always, our meals were outstanding. The first course of oysters on the half shell and shrimp, offered with three different sauces, was a gastronomic delight!
We eat out a lot and Providence is one of our favorite places to dine. We have eaten at Mill's Tavern twice now and each time the food was very good and inventive. However, the server in both occasions is what has made me give the 5 stars. I apologize because I forgot her name but she was attentive, made great suggestions, and when there was an issue it was handled professionally. It has become our favorite Providence restaurants.
A great upscale restaurant if you are looking to impress. Everyone is very friendly and genuine. The food selection covered all tastes. Place had a buzz but by no means loud. Our server Naomie was perfect. Friendly and knowledgeable. Seemed to be there at the right time when needed. We wanted to ask her to sit down and join us. Highly recommended. A really memorable dining experience. Bravo Mill's Tavern.
6 of us went for Restaurant Week. One of the couples had never been to Mills Tavern before. They will be coming back.
Our waitress was great; food excellent and wow the desserts were fabulous. I am always too full to get dessert when coming here not during restaurant week. After this experience, I need to make sure to have dessert as well.
