hearty meal accompanied by a tasty libation or two.
In this American tradition, we at Mill’s Tavern welcome you with genuine enthusiasm. Our staff is warm, friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. So please come, relax, visit with friends and family. You will leave refreshed and nourished, body and soul.
Excellent service along with great food makes a good combo.
First time at Mills for my wife and I, we had received mixed reviews from others, some love it, others find it over priced and not great. We started with some oysters, reasonbly priced, and as long as you get local, they should be great. Caesar salad was great, they throw an anchovie on there, properly done. Main course is where the disappointment comes in. I've never come to expect greatness in short ribs, Mills didn't change me, although the starch was some parsnip creation with blood orange, quite good. Wife had scallops, no complaints there, but not life changing. The desert was the saving grace. Apparently they have an award winning pastry chef. Bread pudding A+ , ice cream concoction with espresso fudge A. Any time you pay almost $200 for a dinner (modest drinking), it should be exquisite. I'll give it another shot
Food was super. Service was well coached but not genuinely understood. Felt rehearsed not owned.
Went there on a date last Friday night, from the valet service to our waitress everything was top notch. She was very helpful always kept our drinks full and very polite, definitely going back again.
A wonderful place to have dinner although a bit pricey for certain things! Food was delicious and the service was wonderful !
The place was cold. Waitress said they had heat issues. Bring your scarf. Food was average
Outstanding food, environment, our waiter Phil was great!
One of best restaurants in Providence. Nice atmosphere and service in addition to good food. Expensive.
The food was good but not for the price.
Friends get together
loved the food and atmosphere, very kind staff made it extremely enjoyable.
Our server, Lynn (sp?), was beyond terrific ... we learned that she's been with Mill's Tavern for 17 years and we have to believe she's a "mainstay." The ambience was lovely, with just enough conversation sound to let us know we were in a popular restaurant but -- happily -- low enough so we could converse with our friends in a normal tone of voice. Among us we had gnocchi, swordfish, salmon, and the lamb special. All were very good. One person had raw oysters (pronounced "perfect") and another had perfectly cooked and cooled shrimp ... equally fine. No one had a dessert, so no comment there. We have a granddaughter at Brown (her first semester) and we're looking forward to a return not merely to see her, but also to re-visit Mill's Tavern.
Our dinner was great as always. We ended up sitting at the bar (took advantage of a baby-free night) and had great service from the bartenders. Our steak was also cooked perfectly! Definitely a much-needed night out!
We had a lovely dinner with friends. Great atmosphere. Our table enjoyed good service and made varied menu selections. The chicken and salmon were reviewed as delicious! I unfortunately ordered the New York strip and asked for it to be “pink”, it wasn’t. The server did not ask me to check it and by the time he returned to the table it would of been awkward to the others to send it back.
On a good note, the server was very helpful picking out our wine. Offered several to taste. Desserts were all amazing.
We will definitely return and give it another try!
We enjoyed our dinner at Mill's Tavern. It's a great night out at a quiet location with perfectly prepared foods.
Annual dinner w/ group of friends for February birthdays. Food was amazing. Loved our round table. Service at the bar was great. Service in the dining room was mediocre.
Great food in a beautiful setting, we will definitely be going back soon
The service was great, the server was very knowledgeable and helpful, food was outstanding as well! My only complaint was my drink, the bartender really did a bad job. I’m almost never one to send something back but in this case I asked the server to just have the bartender tweak it and it still wasn’t quite right. I drank it but it was not good. I would understand if it was like a more complicated or weird drink but it was literally just 3 ingredients. Otherwise the food and service were both amazing and even the server was so sweet about bringing it back for fixing.
My wife and I enjoyed our time there. Outstanding food and service by our waitress. Noise level was pretty quiet and the restaurant was very clean. The only drawback would be that the restaurants valet seemed to have almost discouraged us from our date due to the fact that he did not want to stay later than the restaurant was scheduled to be open. We had a reservation that was scheduled for 10 PM but arrived about 10-15 minutes behind schedule due to traffic. Even though the restaurant was not scheduled to close until 11, the valet asked if we were sure that we wanted to still eat at the restaurant-even though was he had a reservation-because he did not want to stay late and that the restaurant was going to close in 10-15 minutes. This would have meant that they would have closed at 10:20/10:30 for which would have been a half hour early than there advertised hours of operation. My wife and I almost thought of leaving because we were fearful that maybe the restaurant was going to close soon but we decided to ask management first and they confirmed that they were still open and willing to serve patrons. Other than this situation, our time and experience was outstanding. Most certainly will go back!
Lamb chops were amazing!
Ordered New York strip steak medium rare, but it came medium well. Waiter was very apologetic and offered to have another steak done. I declined as I didn’t want to wait 20 more minutes with my wife already eating. Waiter also offered a complimentary dessert. Wife’s salmon was very good. Service was good. Not too noisy. Some tables, including ours, just a little too close together. We usually have an excellent experience at this restaurant.
Another amazing experience at Mill's. The food was outstanding as usual. There were eight of us, so we were able to try a good percentage of items on the menu and everyone raved. Our server took great care of us and she managed the table by herself. There couldn't have been anything improved upon, no surprise!
Really appreciated how attentive they were to my allergy. Food was impeccable and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend and visit again.
We really enjoyed our dinner and are likely to return again.
Loved our table #71 and our server, Phil... food always delicious though one who ordered risotto found it a bit too salty. Scrumptious calimari and artistic and tasty desserts!
Food was excellent, service was ok. No bread was offered, and never received bread basket. there was a delay between our salad and meal, but no apologies from waiter. He did not seem to care about us and was more attentive to other tables. We did not make waves as my husband and I were more interested in enjoying the meal, but it was a let down from previous meals we had here.
Exceptional service. We were immediately seated and attended to. Our waiter was very polite and responsive.
Food was absolutely amazing. I had the ribeye, cooked exactly right, and the person I was with had the gnocchi with Brussels sprouts, absolutely phenomenal. I would have rated ambiance 5-stars if not for the close seating of other 2-person tables.
Lovely ambience, very good food and interesting menu, excellent service.
Our dinner at Mills Tavern was excellent. It was our first try with the new winter menu and we really enjoyed everything. We asked for a particular rum, which we have had there in the past; they didn't have it, but our waitress Lynne brought over a complimentary taste of another rum she thought we might like to try. These little extras are what sets Mills apart from other restaurants. We can't wait to go back and we will definitely ask for Lynne
A little pricey but the food, service, and atmosphere were excellent!
There was a bit of a cold draft where we were sitting. Other than that it would have been a 5-Star review.
Great experience. Seated promptly. Waiter attentive. Braised littlenecks with chorizo, leaks, and other vegetables was fantastic. Swordfish, NY strip, and venison stew all pleased diners. Asparagus was notable side.
We drove in from Hartford, CT just to try Mill's Tavern. It was definitely worth the trip! Great food, great wine list, terrific atmosphere. We had a party of 6 people and they handled everything perfectly on a busy Saturday night. A real gem!
This is an excellent, dependable restaurant with talented management that shows through efficient, well trained and thoughtful cutomer service. The Chef and kitchen team are creative. This is the type of menu where its difficult to decide what to order because every dish sounds delicious and they are! Go and enjoy!
We had a great experience. The food was great, and the service was the best.
We went to dinner here during Restaurant Week and were surprised at the sub-par quality of food. I had been before for dinner and the food was great; everything we had this past visit was lackluster and overpriced. The appetizers in particular seemed lazily put together. The service was outstanding and the ambience is nice. The acoustics in the side room make it difficult to hear your table mates over the din of every other conversation.
Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. This place really knows what their doing.
Thanks for not writing happy birthday on the dessert for the birthday girl, which was confirmed it would have been
Good food, great ambiance, complimentary valet
