Miller Union Ratings and Reviews
Spectacular, as always. From the moment Neal met us at the door we were welcomed into my favorite restaurant. The wait staff and valets seem to have never changed. They're as much regulars as we are. And while I enjoy dinner here it's lunch that I adore. The food is perfect. Everything in its place. Everything perfectly prepared. And everything tastes great. Highly recommend.
The service was very good but the food just didn't taste good. Hushpuppies were flavorless. Sandiwich bread was so sharp it cut up the inside of my mouth. Home cooked chips were literally layered in salt. Not sure why this place was rated so high. Personally not interested in going back.
I had high expectations for this restaurant and for our first visit, the expectations were not met. First, we did not enjoy our seating situation as we were walled off with three other tables (one of which was right beside us). I was stuck out in the walkway while my husband was back in a corner. Second, the food overall was just pretty good, some dishes better than others as I will address. We began with the farm egg baked in cream and the roasted oysters. We did really enjoy the oysters but I honestly didn't feel that there was much taste to or anything special about the bread and the cream. I had two of the current gin cocktails and they were pretty good, but I have definitely had better cocktails in Nashville (live 2 hours from there). For entrees, we had the grilled quail and the seared duck breast. I enjoyed my medium rare duck and everything that accompanied it on the plate, but my husband did not love the quail dish. Quail was cooked well but he did not like what it came with. The brussel sprouts were good but nothing to write home about. We did really enjoy our vanilla bean custard dessert! Would I come here again, yes, but I really don't think the food warrants the prices charged (for our experience anyway).
Our food was excellent, but our service was lacking on many levels. I was prepared for the $35 corkage fee, but typically that comes with some attention towards your wine at a restaurant of this class. The service staff ignored our wine glasses, leaving us to pour our own. The largest concern we had was regarding our desserts. We ordered two desserts (which were excellent). While eating them, we asked for the check, our server brought it shortly after, as he brought it and asked us a question, another server snatched our dishes before we could finish (each plate has approximately 1/3rd remaining). I expressed this to the server, who was very apologetic and offered a replacement, unfortunately we were trying to get home to meet our babysitter. On the way out, we asked for a manager and waited approximately 10 minutes to see one. That manager made the same apology and offer. Again, I declined the dessert. I was told they would contact me within the week to discuss an alternative, unfortunately no one has contacted me at this time.
The food was ok. The server was very good, but as time went by, and by, and by, he disappeared. We were there for a business lunch, and it took one hour just to receive our food. Our server explained (after I asked him why it was taking so long) that there was an issue with the computer.
While I was waiting for my client's car to be pulled up front, I heard several other people complain about the service. There are too many other restaurants in the area for me to tolerate an experience like I had yesterday. I will NOT be back.
I was a little underwhelmed with Miller Union after hearing several raving reviews.
Scene: Nice! Easy drop off and pick up for ubers. Nice decor.
Food: Pretty good but didn't have anything to write home about. Brussel sprouts needed some serious seasoning.
Service: Decent. Had to wait nearly 30 minutes even though we had a reservation, but our waiter was good.
I imagine this place could be good on another day.
This is my second time at Miller Union, and the food is great! They truely know fine southern food. I did rate the food and service lower, because my chicken was undercooked when I was served it. They did replace the chicken, but it came back cut open- and I received nothing more than an apology. By the time my food came out, the rest of my party had finished eating. We also ordered the chercuitery plate without an explaination of what was on the board. The meats were delicious but it would be nice to know the techniques and exactly what each one was. I’m sure this was a one off experience but I don’t think I’ll be coming back the next time I’m in Atlanta.
food was amazing, local, and seasonal! The farm egg is a must try, and I was really impressed that our waiter served it for us. When he first brought it out the yolk was overcooked so he had another brought out. 11/10 on service and food was 10/10. Some of the best veggies I've ever had.
You could tell both time and thought was out into the dishes. Everything we had was delicious. The ingredients on each plate went well together. The crudites on the hummus appetizer were crisp and fresh. The hummus was excellent. The farm egg in celery cream with warm bread was divine, no wonder the waitress who brought it it said it was her favorite.
My date had the pork loin with carrot, chickpea panisse and carrots. The panisse was essentially savory vegetable flan. I want the recipe. I had quail with celery roots, apples, greens, and a cranberry puree. All of the food was great. Our waiter Andy was excellent, he appeared right when we needed something but otherwise let us enjoy our meal. It was a fantastic evening for an anniversary dinner.
I was disappointed because our food was cold. We had an early reservation (5PM) and no one was in the restaurant. Everything took a long time and even though there were a lot of staff there, no one came over to our table right away. It took a while to get our food (I ordered the steak and my husband the pork) and both were cold. When they came back (they were replated and looked nice) it was still luke warm. I went to the rest room and saw our waiter on his phone (red headed guy), so maybe he just wasn't on the ball. Anyway, based on the reviews, my expectations were high and were not met. I will say that the guy that I mentioned the issue to (not our waiter) was very responsive and agreed that it should not be cold since we were the only ones in the restaurant. The Appetizers and drinks were delicious (grit fritters- we ordered two orders they were so good).
This was my first visit to Miller Union and it was exceptional. It was my husband's 65th birthday and I feel he was very happy with the experience. Our cocktails at the bar before dinner were excellent and our meal was outstanding (even if we didn't get the baked egg....yet). Our server was attentive but very low key. He did an excellent job of taking care of us.
Based on photos, I wasn't expecting as "cozy" an environment, but very much liked the way the restaurant was designed. All in all, I was very happy we chose Miller Union for this birthday celebration (and I had a few other options in mind). I cannot wait to go back!
My first experience at Miller Union was great! Although the dishes are small with a hefty price, we left full from eating all three courses. This is a great special occasion dining experience. Prices are shown upfront on the website, so check those out before deciding to dine there. I definitely wouldn't bring children or picky eaters to this restaurant. I brought my boyfriend because he loves to be adventurous with food.
We joined friends here for a Saturday lunch. Two in the group ordered the burger and it was a bit disappointing. The fried chicken, however, was outstanding.
We had a guy step in for our main server and take our order. My wife asked for fries in place of chips on the chicken sandwich and he said he couldn't. She instead ordered the burger, which comes with fries. The rigidity was a little surprising for a place like this- no small uncharge suggested, we would have to place a separate full order for fries. When our server came back, she was unaware that the guy had taken our order.
This might seem trivial, but that's what stood out in our experience of the place.
You can't find a better dining experience in my opinion. From the quality and perfect preparation of food, to the wine selection and the knowledge and service from the staff. This is our go to place for special occasions or just and evening out. I have no hesitation recommending Miller Union and am confident they will exceed any expectations you have. Plan a visit and enjoy!
