we were a group of 4. The only appetizer we all agreed was very good was the pork belly with greens. Pasta dish and short ribs were tasteless. We did not eat but a couple of bites. My son ordered quail and he gave it a 6 but he did clean his plate. Bass was good but not great. We all thought having a JB award we would be certain of a great meal. Guess they give these awards out to anyone. Sorry for this review but maby we just hit you on a bad night.
One of the best experience I’ve had in Atlanta dinning!!!!
Miller Union has a very limited menu for lunch. The food was adequate, but not of the caliber I'd expect from this type of restaurant. I won't be going back anytime soon as there are too many other wonderful places in Atlanta.
Wonderful restaurant. Will not disappoint. We'll be back.
This is just another food establishment business. They serve average upscale food. This isn't the first time that I have been to a Beard-awarded chef's restaurant only to find the staff disinterested in what comes out.
Such a brilliant restaurant. Chef Satterfield and team are so so good.
Excellent menu with outstanding cocktails and wine
My son and I visited Georgia Tech and were looking forward to a fabulous meal to end our day of walking and touring. Miller Union exceeded our expectations. Neal is gracious and knows his wine. Allison, our server, guided us perfectly through the delectable menu. We cannot to return!
phenomenal dining experience per usual.
Took my wife to MU for Valentine’s day - it was our first visit to the restaurant. We live close so we walked - there is only valet parking but there are some side streets you can self park in. We were seated at a booth/table combo in the middle of the restaurant. Our waiter was very nice, knowledgeable & patient. My wife ordered the littleneck clams & I order the grass fed strip steak - it was absolutely fantastic. The clams were cook perfectly. The fish sauce was super savory with the aoili. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was cooked spot on. I dont usually enjoy sweet potatoes but the sweet potato bravas was a perfect contrast with the slightly salted broccolini. The cocktails were solid craft selections but the food was so good the chef def outshines the bartender. It is expensive so we wouldn’t eat there regularly but it is well worth the ticket. One of best restaurants in the city.
My wife and I went to Miller Union for Valentine’s Day. We are generally hesitant about going to a restaurant on this day, as it is often crowded at most restaurants, but based on the reputation of Miller Union, we booked a table about five weeks early for the occasion. We have been to Miller Union several times in the past, and usually enjoy the freshness of the food and the care given to the preparation of the vegetables in particular. This time was no different. We began with a glass of bubbly and ordered the hummus and side of beets. They were delicious, but from the moment we sat down, our server was in a hurry for us to order so he could turn over the table. Plus, if you’re in the center room at Miller Union, you have very little space between tables, and the noise level was high - not very romantic. We were also rushed through our main courses of ravioli and Brussels sprouts. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and looked forward to ordering dessert. My wife asked for a different scoop of ice cream than what accompanied the cake. We then received a lecture from the server that the menu is chef-driven and no changes could be made. The dialogue lasted a few uncomfortable minutes, and we decided to skip the dessert. As we were leaving, we talked to the manager, and she gave us the same lecture and said that the server was only following his orders because they are too busy on Valentine’s Day to customize anything to individual tastes. Although Miller Union has a good reputation, we have decided not to return to the restaurant. It’s a shame that being rushed and lectured by a restaurant is what we remember most clearly about our dinner out on Valentine’s Day.
Great experience for Valentines dinner! We were seated shortly after our reservation time, order was taken, then it was delivered! Food was great! Farm egg is a must, skirt steak and bass were tasty! Dessert was great as well, chocolate pie and vanilla custard.
Duck was awesome
The lunch menu here is filled with comfort foods from the South. My guests were family from out of the country, and they were craving southern soul. The fried green tomatoes are simple, without the distraction of a sauce, just a touch of crunchy and satisfying sea salt so we could taste the tomatoes.
We had the quail, shrimp and grits, and the trout with the flash fried kale. Everyone was pleased with their orders. Our server was attentive and pleasant, and our ice cream sandwich was cut into pieces for all of us. Nice touches will keep us coming back to MU and the West Side.
service was very slow; trout was maybe 1/4" thick and all skin; friend's shrimp and grits was "not good"
Made for a great date night. Loved the farm egg starter and the short rib especially!
This was our second time eating at Miller Union and it was as good as we remembered. The pork belly appetizer was amazing!! Both my husband and I would recommend the entrees that we had...the beef short ribs and the country captain chicken. If we didn't live 2 hours away from Atlanta we would eat here more often.
Always great food and the cocktails are so fresh!!
Excellent service and recommendations from our server, Allison! She was friendly, engaging & helpful but we never felt rushed and thoroughly devoured our food( especially the farm eggs w celery cream& my son’s steak!)
We will be back & love to recommend this fabulous place!
The service was excellent and the food good but not great. Some of the veggies were gritty and our steak was far too pink. Desserts were spectacular!
Food is terrific and service was excellent
We tried the egg in veneer cream having seen it on tv “best thing I ever ate” and it was ok but the other god was better. Sweet potatoes were an amazing dude dish, the duck is delicious and a generous portion and the pork chop was well received, dessert is also excellent and the cocktails are first rate.
Princeton was our server and he made great suggestions. The egg appetizer was delicious! I also had an amazing cocktail with grapefruit that was very refreshing and light. I’d recommend this for a date night or girls night out!
Food was excellent, much better than expected from just reviewing the menu on line. The egg in celery foam with toasted bread and grits and ham croquettes were awesome. All of our entrees were excellent, but in particular the blue and chèvre cheese ravioli and the steak. We also lucked out with a fantastic waiter, Mark, who really added to the experience. We will be returning as it is one of my top two favorite places, now.
Someone recommended the veggie plate to me so I ordered it. The vegetables were so goodd! Best sweet potatoes I ever had. All of vegetables were delicious. The barley was so good, I didn't recognize it as barley!! Wow
Really bad experience, in most part due to the wait staff. As a top rated restaurant in Atlanta, I was looking forward to our visit to Miller Union and came away completely underwhelmed and disrespected.
Let's start with the food...We ordered the Farm egg and Seared Scallops for starters. The scallops were solid and the Farm Egg was average..something I could never have again in my life and never think twice about it. For entrees we had the braised pork and grilled pork loin. The braised pork was really good. It was flavorful and juicy and very tender. The grilled pork was AWFUL. Literally the driest piece of meet I've ever had in my life. If it was just me, I would have sent it back immediately, but my wife who hates confrontation, refused to say anything, which brings us to the service...
Our waitress NEVER came back after we ordered our entree. Not to ask how our food was prepared, not to ask us about desert, not to ask about additional cocktails. She literally vanished. The girl filling up our water ended up giving us our check after I was annoyed after not being attended to for 25 minutes. I've literally never had such poor service at a nice restaurant, and is something that is hard to forget.
Great food. Service was out-of-sync, but not bad. I did not like eating in the porch area with no heat and conspicuously loud parties next table over.
The small room settings can make it very intimate or boring with no people watching. The food was amazing! I expected nothing less from a James Beard winner. Miller Union delivered from drinks to desert. The deviled eggs were delightfully savory and the feta was simple but clean and classic. I had the vegetable plate and I was not overly excited about the greens, they seemed like an afterthought. The fried green tomatoes could have used some salt. The highlight of lunch was the espresso ice cream sandwhich!
