I've been to Miller Union many times and am never disappointed. Everything is creative, delicious, and leaves me wishing to come back the very next day! I love the seasonal fresh ingredients and the clever ways in which Steven puts everything together. And then there are the melt in your mouth (literally) ice cream sandwiches. Lunch would never be complete without one - thanks, pastry chef, for more creativity and deliciousness.
Noisy, crowded, and uncomfortable. Noisy, crowded, and uncomfortable.
given our recent experience their, i can no longer recommend this restaurant
My only complaint would be the lack of attention from our server. Although he was prompt when taking our order and helpful with explaining the specials and answering any questions we had about the menu his demeanor was somewhat less than friendly. Also, once our food arrived he never checked in to see if we needed anything or asked how the food was.
Our evening at Miller Union was curated by our absolutely amazing server, Mark. Ever present, never pesty, he was there with a recommendation or answer when needed and we never felt neglected or pressured in any way.
We started with some libations from the bar and I will be searching my local bars for anything that comes close to the Ancho Verde ~ an amazing combination of fruit juice and tequila and just enough heat to take it up a level. Try it, you'll like it.
On the recommendation of foodies everywhere we started with the baked farm egg in celery cream which was served with thick slices of toasted whole grain bread. Listen to those foodies, they are not steering you wrong.
We settled on the duck and the chicken for main courses and ordered a bottle of the Vouvray from Domaine Huet...which turned out to be a lovely pairing.
For dessert, may we recommend the cookies and ice cream? A generous scoop of Cinnamon ice cream with a separate bowl of caramel sauce served with the perfect assortment of your favorite cookies: a lemon bar, the essential chocolate chip, a coconut macaroon, a fruit filled sugar cookie that was more pastry than cookie...it was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
The food was really good and creative. Went for lunch with husband and mother-in-law and we had a great time. Good cocktails and wine list too.
This was my 3rd visit. The first 2 times I thought the food was amazing. I brought friends w me this time who have never been and we all thought it was mediocre. The feta dip was disappointing-hummus was much better. The steak was cooked just right but had no flavor, even with the butter sauce on top. It was the most expensive dish on the menu and so don't mind paying for it when its worth it..but it wasn't. Lastly, we had dessert- 2 of them, vanilla custard (nothing to get excited about) and cake with banana ice cream and peanut brittle topping- that was the bomb.
We had not been to Miller Union for about a year, as the quality of the food seemed not worth the expense in our last couple of visits. I can now say that this restaurant has once again found its game. All dishes served were outstanding, from the farm egg with bread to the spinach salad to the entrees (it was the entrees that previously disappointed). Not this time: from the tilefish to the short ribs, from the cocktails to the wine, we had a wonderful meal well worth the first-class price tag. A special shout out to our young yet knowledgeable waiter, who never missed a beat despite relentless questioning from our party of four. Slight complaint was that the bar was slow in filling initial drink order -- but it was 7 p.m. on a Friday night, and the drinks were not simple so this is not a valid complaint (when they came, the drinks were perfect, including a house take on the French 75 -- with bergamot! -- that was wonderful). We'll be back.
Great food, wine and service. Jonathan was an excellent waiter.
Excellent food every time. Always fresh and innovative. The vegetables were cooked done but not OVER-done. Great relaxing lunch. Be sure and save room for the house made ice cream sandwiches. Such a treat.
Fresh vegetables! Yum! Great service. A little loud due to the exposed ceilings.
Super service. Food was incredible. We were celebrating our anniversary, and they gave us complimentary champagne.
Wine list too expensive
Our meal was the perfect balance of creativity and comfort. The chef took ingredients we love and reinvented them. The menu highlighted regional products and our waiter was fabulous at finding the perfect pairing for each course.
Very eclectic wine list and menu which we enjoyed. Nice variety of dishes all very nicely prepared and presented. Some dishes were very light on value; 5 of the smallest Ga farmed raised oysters we have ever seen for $15, smaller than a small grapes! Main dishes were all well done; strip steak, tilefish and lemon ricotta ravioli. Duck leg was over cooked but tasty. Nice deserts and excellent service.
Outstanding -- and very good food. Service was excellent, timely, with everyone perfectly attuned to our desires -- and always positive - and happy. The fresh vegetables (crudites) were especially fresh -- harvested when we ordered obviously. Dips were dippy - and the ketchup was a real find (they might bottle it for folks like us). The tartine peas were evidently fresh and uniformly bright green and spherical (where in Atlanta does anyone grow fresh peas in early spring?) The hamburger may not have been the best in the world - but approaching that gold standard. Chips anyone?? And the frozen dessert sandwich was incredibly indulgent - and tasted great too!
The freshest ingredients, beautifully prepared and presented by a highly professional and pleasant staff. Everything from appetizers through salads and entrees exceeded expectations.
This is a good place for a special dinner. Menu limited to a handful of very carefully prepared dishes. All were nicely presented. Valet parking or Uber best as parking in are limited. Very nice wine list and happening bar.
I ordered the duck...excellent!!! I also ordered a cocktail that was called "The One & Only"...very light and refreshing. A perfect drink for springtime!
The service was amazing! The food was subpar. In 14 years my husband has never sent anything back but he did here. After the second bite it was so nauseating he couldn’t eat anymore. The short ribs were swimming in braising liquid. It was literally running off the plate which made the purée just liquid mush. We will never return !!! On a good note the cocktail was delicious
Exemplary service and food quality
Great food and service from Chef and the entire team with some great everyday wines and a few rare gems!
Loved everything about this place. The food was very well seasoned and the staff was friendly and attentive. We had the trout with parsnips and a side of Brussel sprouts. Will definitely go back!
Met a friend here before a concert at Terminal West. Great location, ambience, food and service!
My husband and I went for lunch. Made prior reservations. Our Waitress, Reese, was very friendly and helped us with the menu. The food was delicious. I had steak that was tender and perfectly cooked. My husband had fish. We shared roasted brussel sprouts that was so good. Even our salad was good healthy greens. Even the water taste good. Thumbs up for the food, but I probably would not go there if not for my husband's gift card. Location is out of the way for us and pricey $80.00 lunch.
The restaurant had a great vibe. The food was amazing! Fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious. The service was top notch! I would highly recommend it!
Food was good but not remarkable, nothing to remember. Wine list was excellent. Service was good.
Really good food, but service and seating less than ideal.
Wonderful appetizers and drinks. Main courses are as good, we just had none today. Good cocktails, good service. Always a great experience.
Always a pleasure to be at MU and we will certainly go back.
Amazingly enough, this was my first trip to Miller Union. That said, the food was fine... yep, that's about it... fine. It was just basically nothing to write home about. The white bean hummus was very good, with delicate crispy flatbread so we were off to a good start. The grits fritters were good, just good. My apricot glazed duck leg was (I hate to say it) "fine." The plate was coated with an olive green sauce that was utterly tasteless, but the other components of the dish were good, though nothing special. My friend had the steak and even though it was quite rare (pretty much raw, though ordered medium rare), was dry and tasteless. The chocolate silk pie was a good finish to the meal and was the only part I would call excellent.
On the service side - brilliant. The waiters are super attentive and you will want for nothing, except better tasting food.
Always an excellent experience here. The clams were creative and delicious. Always listen to the recommendation of the sommelier, they have an excellent list but it's sometimes hard to pair on your own. And try the housemade grapefruitcello!
Wine s are the best I have seen in Atlanta. Fits our idea of best food
We were visiting Atlanta with friends for spring break. My strategy for selecting restaurants when in unfamiliar territory is to find multiple credible sources and cross reference them. Miller Union was highly rated on all three. Then I kept seeing it on Best Of lists. I got pretty excited about the prospect and was a bit surprised that it was so easy to get a reservation. It was extraordinary. Our table was 6 and everyone agreed. I found myself saying how good the food was over and over again. I ordered the spare ribs and my mouth is watering at the memory. There were 3 major elements to the plate and all 3 went marvelously together. I wasn’t drinking that night (Lent) but a glass of wine would’ve made it stellar as those who did drink we’re pleased with the wine list and the bottles they ordered.
From the moment you step inside, to the valet fetching your vehicle..Miller Union does not disappoint! The farm egg remains my favorite appetizer; the entrees our four top had were all expertly prepared; and the desserts? Wow! We try and make it there whenever we are in Atlanta. Dining there makes every trip more memorable! Thanks to all the Staff, they work hard to make it that way!!!
Excellent dinner. I was not thrilled by our waiter's multiple attempts to upsell us on our wine choice but other than that is was excellent. Our dinners, bass and duck, were excellent.
Dinner was excellent! Service was exceptional. Higjly Recommend this place for any occasion.
Our server was excellent, though we were treated a bit brusquely by both the host and bartender. We were seated promptly at our reservation time (yay!) but had arrived early to have a cocktail and there is little to no space for that, so plan on aperitifs at the table or elsewhere. Atmosphere is typical of what is current—rustic modern? Food is good but neither of us felt like each dish couldn’t have been improved by something—pork belly of exceptional flavor was unfortunately tough and chewy; one of the creamiest, most lush diver scallops I’ve had in a while was not enhanced at all by bland pea purée and musty-flavored, fibrous slivers of raw kohlrabi. Clam entree was all over the place, and a DELICIOUS warm pecan tart with salted caramel was oddly paired with citrus sorbet. Pound cake with rosemary ice cream was just plain bad in my opinion, though my friend said it was “fine.” I noted that he didn’t eat it.
All in—this would be a great neighborhood spot to pop into, but we won’t be planning a return trip (we also ate here years back when they opened and had same opinion then, but recent recognition had us try again).
We had a light meal before the theater and I thought it was wonderful. The server was excellent; she was efficient and friendly and made good suggestions. I can hardly wait to go back.
Our daughter told us that people were saying this was the best restaurant in Atlanta, so my husband I drove over to the West side to have dinner. We arrived early so decided to sit at the bar and dine instead of waiting on our table. The food was wonderful and the bartender was attentive and very knowledgeable and skilled. We noticed that there are a lot of regulars, so the food and service must be consistent. I had the oysters for an appetizer and the short ribs for the entree. Both were delicious!
