Miller Tavern - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Rob and his crew do a fine job. Whether before a game @ the ACC, or just "a local night out" the Miller does the trick. I have been there many many times(all seasons) and never been disappointed. And no, I did not even get a free drink for this this review........
My husband and I wrntbforban early supper on a Friday afternoon, we had just come into TO on the train. The restraunt was clean, close to our hotel, so an easy walk. I had a burger, and my husband fish. Both were well cooked and tasty. We thought it was expensive meal, but very satisfied with an amazing staff.
The food was sub par... I ordered a New York strip expecting a high quality cut of steak, instead I got a chewy piece of steak, layered with gristle. The other components of the meal was average at best. We also did go to the restaurant with a gift certificate then we had, I had called the day before asking if I can use the gift certificate at either location. The rep who answered the phone stated that I can absolutely visit either location. However, at the end of the meal when paying I was told that the certificate is only valid for the North York location. I explained the situation to the waitress, and although it was solved quickly... still frustrating and embarrassing to have to deal with.
The food was decent, nothing to write home about. Service was really lacking. Our waitress seemed to forget about us for a good 15 minutes during the meal. I understand she was knew ( which she informed us of about 3-4 different times ), but you should also know what soft drinks you guys have. As well as some food recommendations. Overall, the trip was okay. Probably won't return unless part of a group that is going.
Food was average at best. Ambiance was non existent - we asked to be moved to a livelier part of the restaurant but we were told we couldn't. Waiter started out fine but kept disappearing. We had to go looking for him on more than one occasion. I will not return.
Ordered Pinot Grigio, got Chardonnay. Ordered cauliflower soup, got mushroom. Mahi mahi overcooked.
However- waiter was friendly and apologetic and they tried to make it right by us. And I can say that the free piece of caramel cheesecake was absolutely delicious and I would go back just for that. But I would not order wine!
Not impressed with sitting for a while before being acknowledged. For the price of a steak dinner you would think at least the baked potato would be bigger and you would get some veggies instead of a small handful arugula with nothing else. The steak was tasty but overall the presentation of the whole meal was lacking. Won't go back or recommend.
The Bar was busy. Perhaps it's only a place to get a drink.
Had a wonderful time! Great food, great service. We were really happy to have our dinner date there before The RedChili Peppers Concert. A lot of people in the restaurant were wearing Chili Peppers t-shirts so the staff changed the music to the RHCP. It was so great that they did that, really set the mood for the night !
Received a gift certificate over the holidays and came here. Our server was very nice and efficient. But the food was subpar at best. The Caesar salad was limp and over dressed, fried calamari looked like it was from frozen and out of a box, the steak was tasteless and boring, and the cheesecake was worse than something you'd buy as individual cut slices at the grocery store. All this came to over $130 for two with just a glass of house red wine. Save your money.
We go to the Miller a few times a year, typically before Raptor games. Since they readjusted their menu with more affordable choices, we have started to attend more frequently. Food is always good and sometimes great. We have been served by Kenny and Rebecca and both are superior. We will return.
Very different vibe from North York location. We used to go there on a cold night and sit by the fire for appetizers and drinks. This location is very noisy and not as cozy. But all in all good was good and service as well. Just wouldn't go for an occasion. Good for a bunch of friends on gAme night.
