Excellent restaurant. Delicious Southern cuisine. Amazing steak. Wonderful service and atmosphere. We will definitely go back!
My husband and I dined there for our anniversary and had a fantastic experience. The food was great. Service was exceptional. The only thing that bothered us was the little girl from the big party was running around crazy. But that’s not the restaurant’s fault. We had the aged ribeye, rack of lamb, and the filet as main entrees. They were cooked perfectly. Our sides were creamed spinach, scalloped potatoes, and sautéed mushroom. All the sides are shareable sizes. Prices are not bad at all compare to other steakhouses. We love the fact that the server was upfront about the prices of the specials. In most other places (ahem… Capital Grill) you have to ask, which can sometimes be awkward if you’re with a date. Overall, we highly recommend the place for special occasion dinner or just want great foods.
Overall was disappointed as we have been to restaurant for a number of special occasions and it’s 35-40 minutes drive. The shrimp cocktail was tasty but reduced to 2 pieces for each of us 4 total and enough cocktail sauce for 20 pieces. The steaks were tasty but one degree overdone. I ordered MR but was closer to medium with warm red center more to my wife’s liking and she ordered M but was closer to MW for 40 plus dollar steaks. The Mac and cheese was pathetic. It had Penne pasta which was tasteless and no cheese Sauce, just cheese on top and oil on bottom of dish. For 200 dollars plus tip, we will be on lookout for new place to celebrate our special occasions.
Birthday for my two aunts and co-worker
It is one of a kind. I recommend it to anyone for fine dining.
What a wonderful meal! Have been meaning to try them for some time. Wish I had done so earlier. We shared the lamb lollipops appetizer, and it was excellent. They were out of the cherry bourbon glaze, but the Gorgonzola sauce we chose (of the several options that we were offered) was very good. My wife chose the filet and I opted for the dry-aged bone-in ribeye. Superb! We had the asparagus side with beurre blanc and it was everything we hoped for. We enjoyed the Federalist Zinfandel and it was the perfect complement to our lamb and beef dishes. For dessert, we shared the peach cobbler and enjoyed it. The room was attractive and the service (Nichole served us) was excellent. We highly recommend Millpond.
Carolina shrimp farm raised?all same size-could not find duck in rolls-mostly fried batter-succotash spicy. Salad good. Steaks may be best order.
Millpond is all it is advertised to be. Loved the food, the service was friendly and professional with an effort by the staff to make us feel at home and like old friends. We will make this restaurant a new regular dining experience.
Great meal! Excellent service!
Steak was pitiful and felt like over-priced Texas Roadhouse. Last year’s experience was great though.
Just what a steakhouse should be. Can't wait to go back.
Took my partner here for a birthday. Food was good enough. Especially the cornbread and appetizers. Steak lacked flavor. Would eat here again just wouldn't order the filet. Lobster tail was wonderful, and the lamb lollipops were good.
Our son came home for Thanksgiving. There was a customer who yelled at his wife several times, very loudly. He may have been drunk, but it was very disturbing.
Fabulous meal as always!!
Always fantastic…from food quality/presentation to service/ambiance.
Anniversary’s dinner which was very special! Great staff and food as always. We’ve been coming here for years!
My wife and I visit Mill Pond many times each year. It’s never a let down. The service is top notch and food makes you leave happy. The seafood pot is one of kind. Worth every penny!
The food is great, the service is great, and the view is great. Perfect date night or a dinner out with friends.
Wonderful evening, food was awesome! Thanks for a great night!
Food is amazing as always! Sad we didn’t get to see Louie as it was too cold. Ask for Alex to be your server, she’s awesome!
The mac and cheese is a must!! The steak was amazing. Our server Skylar was wonderful we will definitely go back. If you are anywhere nearby you should definitely go.
Honestly I wasn’t impressed for it be so highly rated . It was very country and old, but that was the part of atmosphere. Just because it’s old doesn’t mean you need to leave spider webs on the light fixtures this definitely needed to be dusted. The staff was nice and professional. We were seated and attended to very quickly. My waiter Alex was great. The service was 4/5. I have definitely had better, but the service wasn’t the real issue with the restaurant. My issue was with the food.
The steak it was not very flavorful I’ve made better steaks on my grill in the backyard It was served Oscar style with a white sauce and lobster pieces on top. That was disgusting I actually took it off my steak because it wasn’t good. Compared to other high end steakhouses I’m going to have to give the steak a 1.5/ 5.
The shrimp and grits was good but too soupy. The flavor was rich it was the best thing we ordered in terms of presentation and flavor. 3.8/5.
Now the Mac and cheese and Twice baked potato. This was an embarrassment. The potato was flavorful but the presentation wasn’t what I was expecting. The cheese on top was borderline burnt and it just didn’t seem very “high end”. It gave me a country restaurant feel like a mom and pops restaurant that cooks southern food. I felt like I should have been eating it with a country fried steak or fried chicken. The Mac and cheese tasted like Mac and cheese from a church event. It tasted like it should have been in a styrofoam plate. The cheese was burnt on top. The noodle were soft and soggy. I was expecting the noodles to be al dente ( firm), not soggy and over cooked. 1/5 on the Mac and cheese. The portion sizes were big but the flavor of the food was ok at best.
Lastly there was a party of 4 that sat right behind us. They were two older couples (40-60 years olds) they were definitely killing the vibe with their cursing and loudness. They needed to go to a sports bar if this was what they wanted to do.
Beautiful atmosphere, food was delicious and service was impeccable
Had a wonderful dining experience.
Alex is a wonderful server.
Food was delicious. Love the atmosphere!
If time diner, Alex was our server. She was helpful with explaining the menu, history of the property and gave excellent suggestions. We had a wonderful experience.
No negatives. Never had a bad experience. Food is cooked to perfection.
Outstanding in every way! Extremely attentive wait staff, and the food was out of this world! I had the Shrimp and Grits, along with another guest in our party, it was the best I’ve ever had anywhere! Highly recommend for a wonderful evening of food and ambience!
We went to celebrate my birthday. Food was delicious as always. I always suggest Mill Pond to people who are looking for delicious food and great ambiance.
The food was wonderful. Make sure you save room for dessert,
Brought out of town guests there and we had a wonderful evening. The staff members were professional and answered all our questions. The timing of the courses was perfect. The food was excellent. We hope to bring more guests.
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. The food is so delicious, the service was wonderful. Definitely recommending to all my friends and family.
Great food and expert service from Bill as always.
Ambience was wonderful. Ariel, our server, was awesome. Our meal started with only one small, very dry piece of cornbread. Suggestion: hot, homemade buns, maybe a mix of white and wheat. Loved duck spring rolls. Ate salmon, crab cakes and garlic mashed potatoes. Salmon was undercooked. Asked to have it cooked longer. Garlic mashed potatoes were bland and had too much butter. Loved the peach cobbler. Salmon was overpriced. We should have been given money off our bill cos of undercooked salmon. Will come back but get the steak instead of salmon. Would sit outside next time.
First timer and I was impressed. Food presentation was inviting and tasted scrumptious!!! Had duck spring rolls, oysters, garden salad, crab cakes, ribeye and baked potato. It was all so fresh and delicious.
Nicole was wonderful
Food is always the best anywhere
Best steak house in the “midlands”! Pricey but worth it. Definitely make a reservation! Ariel was an outstanding waitress.
This was our first visit, and it was our 20th wedding anniversary, so we were willing to splurge. We moved to the area not long ago, and have been underwhelmed by the dining opportunities, and realize it's a pricey restaurant, but it came highly recommended. We had a 7:30 reservation, and it was pretty dark outside, and the street the restaurant is located on is easy to miss in the dark, and so, we did. The restaurant is in a remote setting in a not so great area. I'm sure the pond is lovely in the daylight, but we arrived after dark. Homes nearby would not indicate a $50/meal place is across the street. Anyhow, the entrance to the restaurant was equally unimpressive. There is a handmade broom shop next door, which I felt should have a rush of business since Halloween is approaching, but otherwise wondered how in the world it would be a thriving establishment. The interior is done well with a barnboard look, and the tables were a comfortable distance apart. There were three other tables occupied at the time of our visit. They had an extensive wine list, a beer list and I enjoyed an awesome White Russian cocktail while my husband had a beer. It was a little surprising to find entrees were ala carte, and side dishes were between $9.50 and up, but were sizeable and meant to share. We were each served a tiny piece of what appeared to be cornbread with a little kick to it, and a homemade butter. It was tasty. We ordered the scalloped potatoes and the twice baked loaded potatoes, and braised mushrooms. We each ordered a filet, mine the Queen at 8 ozs and his the 12 oz King. The meat was done perfectly, was well seasoned and tasted scrumptious. The potato side dishes were equally delicious, with bubbly crusted cheese on top of each, and more than we could eat. The braised mushrooms were the perfect complement to the filets. Our waitstaff was extremely attentive, fun and made our visit all the better. Highly recommend! But go during daylight to enjoy the waterview!
As always such a wonderful experience. Only hiccup was I ordered a fuzzy navel and the waitress had no idea what that was and forgot our salad but we were not charged and the food received was awesome as always.
I have zero complaints! Everything was beyond my expectations! The food was phenomenal and the service followed! The shrimp grits was to die for! I will definitely be returning!
The view and the food was awesome. We went to celebrate my sons birthday.
