"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home.
The food was great but the server not the main was very rude! I asked for a cocktail straw and they told me they didn’t have any and they didn’t have any straws. The young lady was just rude about everything we asked just cold no joy.
According to the manager, MIKE, who waited on us,Open table actually overbooked the restaurant . He said when he went home the night before our reservation that he had 70 tables booked and when he came back the next morning he had 130 and he did not have the capacity to handle this. He had called my cell phone and left a message that we needed to reschedule but I did not listen to that message. When we arrived he explained this to us and was very apologetic and offered to let us sit at the bar. We did so and he personally waited on us. The food was excellent. I have eaten at places all over the world and think this may very well be the best restaurant in South Carolina and is probably one of the 10 best restaurants that I have been to across the world. We had fillet mignon and fried okra and fried oysters and garlic mashed potatoes. Since there was a problem with our reservation, Mike, give us a complimentary dessert of mixed berry cobbler with ice cream which was Amazing. The meat was cooked perfectly. Excellent service. There was a woman sitting at the bar with us that said she was their “mascot “and had retired here from Arizona and has been there every night since 1992. The atmosphere is very plain and slightly rustic with no frills and great food. They welcome all comers. Once my son and I went there and did not ring extra clothes after hunting and they welcomed us in hunting attire. Patrons range from coat and tie to bluejeans.I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Food tasted good. 2 fillets were both cold. Told manager. Got lip service. Told server. More pro active. Manager came back over, pointed out that patron that came in after us, were served. Others food had steam coming off of entree. Manager took fillets off of our bill. Should have been done first time around. Left gratuity as if all food was charged, so server and water person recieved funds. I have eaten at Boykin Mills for over 10 years. I will continue to eat here. Usually good food. Great ambience
Enjoy our experience every time we dine there! Can’t wait to return.
We were sat near a family with two young children. This table was very loud and at one point sang “Happy Birthday” quite loudly. At this point our meal was no longer enjoyable as I felt as if I was in Applebee’s. Food was great and service was excellent. Only disappointed in the lack of respect given by other guest.
Great service. The food was good but a little too pricey on the food. Steak was $55, fried oyster appetizer was $28 and wine was an expected 10-15 per glass. Total 2 people - $175 which included 4 glasses of wine.
Great as always. Hidden gem.
Food and service was outstanding. It was crowded being a holiday so it was loud & not the normal quiet ambiance
As always the Mill Pond was not disappointing. The service and the food were excellent.
We had a great dinner. Six people and everyone loved the food and the entire experience. We will be back
Great way to spend our 42d anniversary. First time diners. Food was great. welcoming staff.
Wonderful atmosphere, service and most importantly delicious food! They also have an excellent wine list!
Food was great, service great, only thing that could be better would be noise level— but we will go back. Michael is outstanding!! We walked out feeling we had madd a good choice !!!! Buy the way - no matter what you order you must get the cobbler !! My Lord it was soooooo good !
Great service, great food, and great ambiance!
Steaks were so tender and everything we got from sides to cobblers were prepared beautifully and were delicious. The menu is pretty pricey but for a special occasion, the we didn’t mind splurging for such delicious food.
Great place and vibe with excellent food. Would recommend.
The food and service was great! I had the fish special and asparagus. I highly recommend this place
Was a little noisy the first half of our dinner
Everything about this restaurant is great, staff, food and location! You’ll be sure to have the same experience each time you visit.
Very enjoyable meal and service outstanding. We enjoy the remote location and unique setting.
It was quiet at the beginning then started getting louder with tables filling up around us as time went on.
Excellent, prompt, professional service, great atmosphere, marvelous food.
One of the consistent best restaurants in all of South Carolina. True “Southern” experience from service to cuisine. Highly recommend. Worth the remote location.
Just the way I remembered it from many years ago...excellent!
We literally enjoyed every thing that we ate! When our waitress gave her opinion of food items and/or suggested entrees, she made sure to describe in detail what the dish consisted of and emphasized how great it was based on her personal experience. There have been other restaurants where a waitress has done the exact same only for me to try the dish and it be a totally different outcome. Millpond Steakhouse has the best food.....better than Ruth Chris or other 5 star restaurants in surrounding areas. No need to drive to Columbia or Charleston when we have the great place in our backyard. So glad we decided to go for my husband's birthday.
Wonderful place, wonderful people, wonderful food. We will be back.
We had such a wonderful evening. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The view of the pond was gorgeous. They do discourage taking photos or walking out by the water because there are alligators. However, you can take in the view and take as many pictures you want on their outdoor balcony. Our waitress, Stephanie, was the best. She took pictures for us and was attentive the whole evening making sure we were comfortable.
The food was amazing! We started with the duck spring rolls and the house chopped salad. Both dishes were very tasty, but the real stars were the entrees. I had the marinated rack of lamb; instead of mint jelly it's served in a savory sauce that tastes like heaven. My husband had the ribeye and he is still raving about how good it was. I had a bite of it and I agree it was cooked to perfection.
My overall take: it's expensive, and it's a bit of a drive. But, I would happily go again because the food, service and ambiance is worth it.
The staff at Mill Pond were wonderful. We appreciated Stephanie's attention to detail and her friendliness.
Perfect location. Very polite staff. Food was excellent. It’s one of the most unique dining experiences in our great state!
As always, the Mill Pond was fabulous. Decide to try something different-The Seafood Pot. What a treat! Made my anniversary very special.
Absolutely amazing. The food, service, and view was amazing! We cannot wait to come back.
It was our first visit! Service and food were both excellent!
We traveled from Columbia after hearing so many good things about the Millpond. Service was very friendly and professional,a what a nice setting we can’t get in Columbia. I would have never figured but the food was subpar at the price point. Grit were delish!! I kinda stop there and the rest was average. I sure we will try it again at some point because of the friendly, professional service.
We had a slight problem with seating, which created a little embarrassment for us, but the staff made everything right!
Every time we go to The Mill Pond we are impressed with the delicious dishes and the great service - as well as the beautiful views. Daniel is so great! He makes wonderful recommendations. We all had steaks and we shared the oyster appetizer plus we shared the fried okra and succotash. Then we had to have the black cherry cobbler. All excellent! We look forward to next time!
Went for our 10 year anniversary dinner. Everything was excellent, the food, the service, and the seating.
The food was tasty. The waitress and staff were very pleasant. The alligator added a nice touch for a late night meal.
I appreciated the late reservation.
My wife and I have dined at Mill Pond many times over the years (even before it was known as a "Steakhouse"). We've always thoroughly enjoyed our visits there; thanks, Marion and Joyce McDonald........
Best steak and crab cakes in S.C.
Absolutely wonderful as always!
