Mildred's Temple Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The staff should know better...
My wife and I went for brunch this morning. Everything was great until a pair of early 20 somethings showed up at the table next to ours. Within minutes our meal was ruined by the loud tinny sounds of a rap video being played on one of their phones at full volume. Once their food arrived, they propped up the phone and couple were eating and watching this video the entire meal. Our server was very polite overall but never once asked them to turn down the volume. I finally had to say something to the couple. These morons didn’t even react or apologize but simply turned the volume down a few notches but continued to watch like they were at home on their laptops.
The policy at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen should be clear. No loud cell phones at the table. Ridiculous!
Went here for Winterlicious, had the lobster tortilla soup, duck & waffles and the bread pudding. The soup was spicy and caught me off guard. There was nothing too special about the soup, and I couldn’t taste the lobster what so ever. The duck & waffles was ok. The duck leg was a bit dry and I thought the waffle was really soft. I also just thought the raw-ish egg yolk mixed with the blueberry chutney was a bit too much (since the egg was raw and the chutney was really sweet). The best part of our meal was probably dessert. My friend and I both go the same meal and we both agreed that our bread pudding was the best. It was hot and the ice cream added a creamy taste, which I liked. Our server was nice but he didn’t check up on us too much and wasn’t very engaging while he constantly checked with the table beside ours. The only other thing I liked beside the desert was the environment. I really liked the interior of this restaurant and the layout of everything, which was very spacious. I think I would be down to check it the brunch at this place but other than that I probably wouldn’t come anymore.
I came here with my boyfriend for Winterlicious. We got a lot of food for the low price of $33 and we left stuffed!! The food was on-point and really unique flavours. The service was okay, he didn't come by a lot... we filled our wine glasses (which is perfectly fine, I'm just used to servers being on top of this). We had to wait a while for him to come at the end of our meal, which was annoying. The restaurant was a little bright for a Saturday night vibe. I would have preferred the lights to be dimmed. But again, the food was AMAZING. Still thinking about those duck and waffles.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Mildred's Temple Kitchen on Saturday. The staff was exceptional - from the hostess at the front, to our server, to all the support staff - friendly, knowledgeable and obviously all working to ensure that our experience was amazing. It was!
Ordering the duck and waffles was a brilliant choice - can totally understand why it is considered a signature dish. It was delicious. All the plates looked good and tasted even better. We had some fun trying some of the recently handcrafted cocktails as well.
Thanks to Mikhail for coming by at the end of the night to ensure we had enjoyed our meal and talk to us about coming back when the patio is open to enjoy the oysters. We're definitely coming back!
Huge thanks to all the Mildred's Temple Kitchen staff - all of them succeeding in making our date night wonderful.
My husband and I really enjoyed our Winterlicious meal here. The duck and waffles were divine! The appetizer wasn't as good (I got the chicken liver pate with pear chutney and the combination was a bit strange). Other than that, we got there at a perfect time before it got busy so we enjoyed the space.
We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here during the opening night of Winterlicious 2018. We arrived early for a drink at the bar and were seated early. Easy drink transfer process. Chefs accommodated my apple allergy by omitting from my salad and preparing in a separate bowl. BF's lobster bisque was OK but kind of one dimensional, ever with the tortilla hay. The halibut in my burride was very overcooked and dry and the butter loaded baguette crisps melted into the sauce giving unsavory mouthfulls of butter. BF's duck was also overcooked but the waffle and apple sauce were very tasty. Desserts were the star of the night, profiteroles and bread pudding were outstanding. The service was amazing, our attentive Irish server was very helpful and friendly. We will return for brunch but were overall underwhelmed with the execution of the dinner dishes we ordered.
It was incredible! Had a wonderful birthday celebration with my coworker. The service was lovely! The waiter got my coworker more avocado bread - on the house - when he saw the initial slices were burnt. The restaurant also gave me a yummy brownie for my birthday 😃 Overall, my experience was amazing!
The food was good but the service could be greatly improved. I think in about 2 hours we saw our server four times. We only half finished our meals and our server cleared them without asking us if we want to packed it up. At the end he asked if we wanted anything else but immediately walked away which was just rude.
We ordered the 'internet famous' pancakes for the table to start. Which came out instantly - as in too quickly. And sadly were received cold - our guess, it was a mistake from another table. One friend (a sous chef) found an eyelash floating on his eggs, while I simple found my brunch boring. The cauliflower curry was incredibly dry and while it displayed great colour it had no taste, I drizzled some hot sauce on the bowl but still felt it was bland. I would not encourage others to stand in line here when there are various other places in the area that serve clean, hot, flavourful food. My apologies but the server didn't ask once how everything was, otherwise I would have spoken up rather then leave a stinky review.
Service was extremely slow .. reservation was at 1 so guess in the midst of a weekly lunch hour but still.. too long a wait
Concrete floors in a restaurant just makes for a very loud environment .. stuff was dropped by kitchen staff an due to kitchen being wide open
Third visit for me. Always an interesting menu selection. First time for my cousin and her husband and they really enjoyed all of it - food , ambience. Very attentive waiter who heard us say it was my cousin's birthday and then had Happy Birthday written on the dessert plate. He also gave her a small box with scones and jam as she left.
Beautiful space. . Wait associate was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.
Food was very good . $16 for 3 pancakes is good for a treat. We unfortunately found dissapointing the scone and biscuits. Not light or fluffy but dry and crumbled upon impact when trying to cut it. . Won't order again .
