We are North Central Florida's farm-to-table, local, sustainable foods restaurant. Operated by Bert and Tara Gill, Mildred's offers a seasonally changing menu highlighting what is available locally.

Offering quality and freshness with no shortcuts, our team prepares each dish from scratch.

We serve local produce and fresh Florida seafood every day. We also feature a full bar, an award winning wine list and homemade cakes and cheesecakes.

Mildred's is proud to say we serve Gainesville's best food! We are also in the Golden Spoon Hall of Fame for our dedication to great food and service year after year.

Reservations for lunch are not necessary.

Big Mildred's is a wonderful independent food oriented restaurant in a sea of chains. The service was wonderful-our French waiter made recommendations that proved he knew what he was talking about. The food was fresh, had wonderful sophisticated flavor, and servings were filling-we wished we had room for the delicious looking desserts! Excellent cocktail and beer and wine list. Would go again if we were back in Gainesville.

Tucked at the end of a strip mall, the little unimposing restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is fabulous and so is the service.

Felt for the price that the food should have been better. Steak was served in small pieces and some were fine and some had gristle through it and therefore chewy. The veal was moist, but not overly tasty. The veggies were fine. The bread was good and the butter served spreadably soft. They do not have Bailey's in stock and the substitute was not quite as good. My wife asked for crushed ice. It wasn't . When we mentioned nicely that the steak had some chewy parts the server said my wife could have coffee on the house. The dessert waitress also knew that and so my wife had a Latte. For the price it was not a great experience.

Farm to table food .lamb trio one of the best we’ve tasted.
Scallops very fresh.cocktails very innovative .quick service if you have a show to catch at curtiss center.

We were there early, and it was quite quiet. We enjoyed our appetizers with excellent bread, and then the main meal - I got a wonderful filet mignon, and my husband got the trio of lamb, which was also excellent. We were tempted to have the Wellfleet oysters, but we're from Cape Cod so decided that would be redundant. This is a wonderful small restaurant - don't miss it.

This was a lovely evening out barring that the weather was horrible and our GPS betrayed us so we had trouble finding the place. The food was interesting and service was excellent. My oysters were delicious and my husband loved his escargots. I had the hen which was excellent and my husband had filet mignon. For dessert I had a port and we shared a truly decadent piece of chocolate cake. Very inventive cuisine...we would return if ever in Gainesville again.

The entire staff and our waitress in particular were very efficient and knowledgeable. Making the food selections was a difficult task; everything sounded enticing. The duck crepe was unique and melted in your mouth. The pork chop and vegetables were well prepared.

Food for both of us was too salty. My scallops were cooked perfectly but served with too many different flavors so the scallops were overwhelmed. My husband’s chicken was fine. Website menu is not indicative of what they serve.

This was my second time at Mildred's Big City foods and I was so glad that I went back! Food is really fresh and delicious, tables are nice and not crowded into restaurant and service was exceptional. Quite a find in a big college town.

My wife and daughter are vegetarian. The restaurant staff couldn't have been more helpful and ensured that both had a great dining experience. For those of us who were not vegetarian the food was also excellent. Great food, great service, we will definitely eat here again.

For the price, we expected more. The fois gras appetizer was OK, and my watercress salad wasn't worth $10, maybe $5. My scallops were $30 and nothing extraordinary, I'd pay $15. I wouldn't go again unless it was for dessert...the cheesecake was phenomenal,
