Great meal and Italian wine. Recommended to friends and family.
We used the recommendation from Open Table while traveling to Fla from Cinti. If we lived in Gainesville this would be our favorite restaurant! Everything was perfect!
Everything was great! Food and service were outstanding.
Went to celebrate 2 or our friends birthdays. We had a fabulous server, attentive and fun. We also had incredible dinners, creative and perfectly cooked! Mildred's is always wonderful!
Big Mildred's is a wonderful independent food oriented restaurant in a sea of chains. The service was wonderful-our French waiter made recommendations that proved he knew what he was talking about. The food was fresh, had wonderful sophisticated flavor, and servings were filling-we wished we had room for the delicious looking desserts! Excellent cocktail and beer and wine list. Would go again if we were back in Gainesville.
Tucked at the end of a strip mall, the little unimposing restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is fabulous and so is the service.
We are from Washington DC and have been to Mildred's our last 3 visits to Gainesville. Consistently high quality and delicious choices, smooth and kind service, and exceptionally wonderful to be able to have a conversation without a din.
Great food, good service, good drinks, a good place for a business meal.
Felt for the price that the food should have been better. Steak was served in small pieces and some were fine and some had gristle through it and therefore chewy. The veal was moist, but not overly tasty. The veggies were fine. The bread was good and the butter served spreadably soft. They do not have Bailey's in stock and the substitute was not quite as good. My wife asked for crushed ice. It wasn't . When we mentioned nicely that the steak had some chewy parts the server said my wife could have coffee on the house. The dessert waitress also knew that and so my wife had a Latte. For the price it was not a great experience.
Excellent food and service. We’ll go back!!
Farm to table food .lamb trio one of the best we’ve tasted.
Scallops very fresh.cocktails very innovative .quick service if you have a show to catch at curtiss center.
We were there early, and it was quite quiet. We enjoyed our appetizers with excellent bread, and then the main meal - I got a wonderful filet mignon, and my husband got the trio of lamb, which was also excellent. We were tempted to have the Wellfleet oysters, but we're from Cape Cod so decided that would be redundant. This is a wonderful small restaurant - don't miss it.
Had a very nice dinner celebrating graduation from UF. Very friendly and efficient staff.
Benoit made the night very special for us! He is a gem!
This was a lovely evening out barring that the weather was horrible and our GPS betrayed us so we had trouble finding the place. The food was interesting and service was excellent. My oysters were delicious and my husband loved his escargots. I had the hen which was excellent and my husband had filet mignon. For dessert I had a port and we shared a truly decadent piece of chocolate cake. Very inventive cuisine...we would return if ever in Gainesville again.
Good service, good meal, nice evening,, looking forward to a return it.
We have been to Mildred's many times. It always feels lke a special occasion. Great place.
The entire staff and our waitress in particular were very efficient and knowledgeable. Making the food selections was a difficult task; everything sounded enticing. The duck crepe was unique and melted in your mouth. The pork chop and vegetables were well prepared.
Food for both of us was too salty. My scallops were cooked perfectly but served with too many different flavors so the scallops were overwhelmed. My husband’s chicken was fine. Website menu is not indicative of what they serve.
This was my second time at Mildred's Big City foods and I was so glad that I went back! Food is really fresh and delicious, tables are nice and not crowded into restaurant and service was exceptional. Quite a find in a big college town.
My wife and daughter are vegetarian. The restaurant staff couldn't have been more helpful and ensured that both had a great dining experience. For those of us who were not vegetarian the food was also excellent. Great food, great service, we will definitely eat here again.
Great food, it will be nice if they can upgrade the decor, everything looks old and outdated.
For the price, we expected more. The fois gras appetizer was OK, and my watercress salad wasn't worth $10, maybe $5. My scallops were $30 and nothing extraordinary, I'd pay $15. I wouldn't go again unless it was for dessert...the cheesecake was phenomenal,
The food was outstanding. The pork chop was succulent and perfectly cooked. The hanger steak is also delicious. If you like beets try the beet salad it is very tasty. The service was excellent and the atmosphere conducive to conversation. One of the top restaurants in Gainesville.
Always innovative, expertly prepared and properly served food. Continuously changing menu based upon what is fresh and available. Always a memorable dining experience. Desserts are always worth the calories and should be experienced.
This could have been an awkward evening as we arrived for our reservation with an extra person but the host/waiter set us up perfectly with no problem. The service was a bit slow because of a large party but the food was superb and the waiter charming.
Everything is good here. Ingredients are local and fresh. The kitchen could afford to take more risks, such as not hiding the taste and texture of escargots in an excessive number of self-cancelling ingredients!
Every time I eat at Mildreds's restaurant I am amazed how good the food is every time we eat there. We have eaten at all of the highest rated restaurants in GainesvIlle. Mildreds is my favorite
Food was very tasty. My steak was over cooked but still good. The wine choices were good. I felt very ignored by my waiter. He was friendly but seemed to be unable to multitask stopping at several places before taking my order. No offer to replace my over cooked steak.
Took daughter there for graduation and it was busy but the food and service were both excellent. Our wine was chilled and at a fair price. We not only had dessert there but took some to go.
Excellent food as usual. Very consistent. Waiter a little too officious for our tastes. We will be back; it's the "go-to" dinner evening almost every time.
Pleasantly surprised and impressed with this venue. Menu is basic - fish and meat, wine selections were adequate, has a full bar. Ambiance was ok. Service was outstanding and food was delicious. We would return.
This was an amazing restaurant. The food was the best and my family kept saying that they felt transported to another place. Our waiter was incredible, he was so helpful and attentive. This was the perfect choice of restaurant for my graduation dinner! Thank you so much!
There with 3 kids (7-15yo). Had the filet, salmon, and the gnocchi. All 3 were excellent! The octopus appetizer was unique, and fun to try, but only if you like octopus. If you prefer it fried and battered then perhaps not. The selection of local beer was a nice touch, and also had a full offering of bourbons. The deserts were almost worth the trip alone...espresso cake and chocolate truffle cake disappeared quickly between the 4 or us (the 5th was asleep by then). Our server Wayland was informative and attentive. We just happened upon Mildred's by accident, but it will definitely be worth a return trip.
Mildred's has always been quite fine but the dinners seemed especially interesting this time - Cornish game hen three ways, incredible veal sweetbreads, etc. , making for a particularly fine evening.
Florida Trend Gold Spoon restaurant. In town for business and visiting friends. We were seated promptly, service was friendly and courteous, nice menu selection and desserts were great. Will visit again and would recommend as a great place to visit for special occasion and for those wanting an original menu.
The food was good not great. The staff was very kind and waiter was nice.
We've dined at Mildred's for nearly 15 years. We come to Gainesville often for U.F. events and this is one of our favorite restaurants in town. The menu is not extensive but changes often (maybe daily) so we see new items every time we dine here. Dishes are creative, typically include local products and are attractively presented. The wine list is also not extensive but we usually can find something we like and the wines are moderately priced. Service is better than most in Gainesville - having a well-trained staff can be a real challenge in a college town - turnover leaves you with servers short on experience, which sometimes shows at Mildred's, but they are always enthusiastic, friendly, and for the most part knowledgeable. Hat's off to the Gills and their managers for consistently providing good service. Now, the killer is the dessert display case that you see as soon as you walk in - it's temptation from the start. If you can make it to dessert you won't be disappointed.
The service was great. Food was creative and tasted wonderful. Wine list was very fine and server recommended an excellent wine. All this and the price was very reasonable.
