   Service was amazing, location and ambiance left a little to be desired. Ingredients were quick serve/frozen and low quality, menu was written to hide that fact. For example, “Pom frites with octopus and infused Aoli” was actually frozen French fries with canned, fishy octopus and mayonnaise. Good menu concepts, just poorly executed. Cocktails were high quality and well thought out though! Staff was really awesome, that saved the night.

   Mildred’s is my favorite restaurant. I said 4 stars for value because some might find it pricey. We sat outside and there was a lovely breeze. It was a very busy time, but the service was very good and our server was helpful and very pleasant. Glad to find out that employees other than servers get a share of the added cost. Always wonderful.

   My chicken hen meal was cooked slightly lest than well done. I had blood in my chicken and lightly on my plate. Be sure to request your meat to be well done if this is your choice. This is not a complaint just a helpful tip.

    We love this place. This is our go-to for special occasions. The food is always unique and amazing. The waitstaff service was wonderful throughout our - meal always making sure we were comfortable. When we asked for something unique, the request was honored. We always enjoy finding out what the menu is for a given evening. And this is one restaurant where we don't skip the dessert!

    Mildred’s continues to be one of the best restaurants in Gainesville. We have been coming here for over 20 years. It never disappoints. We are fortunate to have such a unique fine dining spot.

    Our first time visiting Mildred's and we were not disappointed. We were celebrating wedding anniversary. We are finnicky eaters so I was worried that they would not be able to accommodate changes to what was listed on the menu. The service and the food were excellent. The server was well versed on the menu and provided good insight that led to our menu choices. I had braised lamb and the hubby had salmon. Highly recommend. We will be back. Thank you!

    Service was great! Inside had a smell of sulfur. Food is a subjective subject so hard to critique, but flavors not to our tastes. Biggest issue was an included 12% service charge (some left over COVID thing) that they included in the total amount and then asked for a recommended 15%, 20%, or 25% tip on top of that. So basically they asked for a tip on the service charge!

    We were not impressed. It is a set price ($38) for 3 courses. There were a couple of salad choices, but nothing out of the ordinary. We chose the salmon and the pompano for our two entrees. The sides were very mediocre and the fish just so-so. For the included desert there were several cheesecake and cake choices. The cheesecake was good and the cake not bad, though a bit dry. We had excellent service, but were disappointed and would not go back.

    Service is at a superior level compared to most. I suppose this justifies the 12% service charge. Food very tasty; not a big menu, but there is an entree for all. Chef understands taste and quality. Very comfortable, pleasant environment with a nice clientele. Very generous with cocktail size. Desserts exquisite.

    This was Valentine's night and the menu was spot on, including a luscious Ricotta Strawberry Cheese Cake. This is Gainesville's best overall restaurant because of its creative choices and good wine list.

    We love sitting at the bar and chatting with the wonderful service staff, who are well-versed with menu and wines. The cuisine is innovative but not fussy, allowing true tastes of the main dishes to come through.

    The $38 price fix menu is the best value in Gainesville. Three courses. Had the beet salad-wonderful! The hen was a large portion, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. Of course finished it off with their delectable coconut cake. Yum! Our server was really great, frequently checking on us to be sure all our needs were met. Can’t wait to come back!

    Mildred’s is our favorite restaurant. There are only a few locally owned restaurants in Gainesville where the menu changes based on the availability of various ingredients. Their menu almost always has a type of fish, pork, chicken, steak, or vegetarian as an option. Many of the menu items are based on traditional French cuisine and I have never had an item that wasn’t exceptional. You can also order items from their sister restaurant, New Deal, so the food choices are extremely varied. From the best basket of fries in Gainesville (from New Deal) to a duroc pork chop that is easily the best meat dish you will ever eat, I highly recommend it.

    What a wonderful surprise when we found a world-class restaurant in our backyard. The service was excellent and the descriptions the waiter gave to us were very descriptive and enticing. The food and wine were superb. As people who believe in covid-19 precautions, we found the dining room tables correctly spaced and the wait staff masked throughout our dinner. We will certainly visit Mildreds again, and hopefully more often.

    This is our new favorite restaurant in Gainesville and will be our go-to restaurant for special (actually ANY) occasions! The menu changes depending on available fresh ingredients and each dish was flavorful, well balanced and expertly prepared and presented. The escargot was tender and flavorful and the pomme frites with mushrooms and aioli a decadent shareable appetizer. The sirloin steaks were done to perfection, as was the salmon. Their decadent desserts were over the top, including the chocolate fudge cake and carrot cakes. I’m looking forward to trying more of their on site prepared desserts next time, probably this week since we have guests arriving. You owe it to yourself to try this excellent restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!

    Excellent price fixe menu with a nice flexibility to swap sides and upgrade from salad to appetizer. Lovely selection, great service and presentation. Even my two teens enjoyed the whole experience.

    We got there early so it was nice and quiet as we celebrated my father's upcoming birthday. The four of us each had a drink and the meal plan, starter, entree, and dessert. The lamb was great, the Cobia was good but not the best fish I have ever had. My only complaint was the really expensive but very minimal crab cake appetizer. It was half the price of the meal plan but very minimal in amount. I think the restaurant needs to double the amount.
