Milano - Latham NY Ratings and Reviews
We had not been to Milano in many years (do not live in the area). We decided to go back when we were in town and were not disappointed. Not many restaurants maintain quality and reputation for 30+ years but Milano certainly has. We had a great meal in a comfortable and elegant yet contemporary surroundings, good wine and good dessert too. They were able to accommodate my gluten-free requirements. I recommend you give them a try.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday; she has an allergy to onions (and the onion family), which the waitress very capably discussed with the chef to ensure that her order would be onion-free. The service was excellent and the food was great. Milano's is one of the real gems in the Albany area and never disappoints.
Modern yet cozy decor/ atmosphere. Nice variety of food and drink options. Pizzas are delicious, also had a seafood linguini- delicious. Filet mignon prepared perfectly. Waitress wonderful. Also there in Spring for graduation dinner with a group, great time, great food.
We arrived for a noon business lunch. As I found the noise level louder in the dining room I asked to be seated in a quite area at a height top in the bar area. Without getting into too much detail our waitress repeatedly felt distracted when we were asking questions about the menu . She indicated that she wished that she had more time to chat but she’s got to wait on the other tables in the dining room. She returned to take her order and my business partner had made a remark about the menu again and she mentioned that she’s very busy on the other side of the room. Twice she mentioned her busy tables were in the dining room, as if we were an inconvenient table. I specifically asked if the Kobe beef was Japanese or American and she said your dining at Milanos it’s the best witches commendable but not an answer to my question. So I ordered it anyway, medium. My partner ordered a margarita pizza. Butternut squash‘s was a little bit heavy but delicious. However my Kobe burger was well done burnt on the rims. I did try a small bit and was not impressed. I did not want to order another dish so I decided to eat the margarita pizza. Normally margarita pizza is served with crushed Marinera fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. The cheese was yellow which was not fresh mozzarella maybe a little basil just maybe in the tomatoes were cut in quarters. Overall I expected more upscale experience. Very disappointed.
It was a Friday night out with friends. It has been a long week for the four of us so what better place to relax , but Milano's. We started off with a bottle of Chianti Classico Reserva for $40. Our one friend likes white wine so she had a glass of Riesling for $10.25. We did not have any appetizers so we ordered the following entrees . Two of us a pizza. One was the special and the other was their spicy sausage pizza. Both were $16.25 a piece. My wife had the pasta with shrimp and our friend she had the salmon. Presentation for all all entrees were done nicely. There was an issue when another wait pewrson brought two of the dishes over , but the pizzas were not ready. What happen, by accident the other wait person gave my wife and the other female in our group somenone's elses food. Our waiter Rob was not happy, but took care of the issue very quickly. So because there was this little issue Mialno's gave us free dessert for our table. Rob is a great waiter. Friendly , efficient, and of course professional. Frank is a great manager and knows how to handle any issue to make his customers feel that they are important and not just a person sitting in a seat. Friday night was very crowded, but the kitchen was cranking out the food perfectly. Please give Milano's a try. They have a Loyalty Card where every $350 you spend you get $35 off the bill. So for my group of four we had $70 taking off our bill. Milano's is my wife and I favorite restaurant to go to and to have the Loyalty Card is like icing on the cake.
We go to Milano's on a regular basis. It's a great spot for a date or to meet and dine with friends. The staff is warm and friendly, the service is always exceptional and the food is consistently good. The menu offers a nice variety of choices and the daily specials are always tempting. They have a great wine list and offer numerous quality wines by the glass. Overall, MIlano's is one of our favorite restaurants. Highly recommend it.
I have been here many times. But it did not hit the mark this time. The tuna tartar was chopped up raw tuna no flavor no seasonings. I used the pesto olive oil on the table for flavor. Duck was really really dry. Waitress was new but she tried. I will come back but they were not on their game tonight.
It was my wife and I twenty eighth wedding anniversary so what better place to go, but Miano's. When I made the reservations I requested Rob for our waiter. He is so attentive, friendly, professional, but also fun to chat with. Actually all the wait staff at Milano's are very good , but we consider Rob a friend who we like to catch up with . My wife started out with a cosmopolitan and I had a glass of Acrobat. A pinot noir from Oregon. The glass of wine was $10.25 and I believe the cosmo was $10. My wife started out with the INSALATA DI FICO E CAVOLO Pears, Golden Raisins, Kale, Dried Figs, Pine Nuts, Shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, Honey Balsamic for $9.95 and I had the NSALATA DI SPINACI E GORGONZOLA Spinach with Gorgonzola, Walnuts, Red Onions, Sun Dried Tomato Vinaigrette for $9.95. So far everything was great. The place was very crowded, but Rob did a great job managing his time with all his customers. For dinner my wife had the Scallop special which was with risotto . I believe the price was $26 and my wife loved it. Presentation was spot on and the food came out hot. For my main entree I had the ARROSTO D’ ANATRA ** Wood Oven Roasted Duck Breast, Duck Confit, Fingerling Potatoes, Charred Radicchio, Apricots, Apples, Seasonal Vegetable, Sage Marsala Demi Glace for $26.50 . The duck came out perfectly how I wanted it. Again presentation was perfect. My wife and I were considering desseret, but before we could ask for a dessert menu Rob came out with two desserts, which were on the house for celebrating our anniversary at Milano's. Frank the manager is a hands on person. He is a person that takes pride in Milano's. he always walks around to his greet his customers. He also will jump behind the line and help get the food out on time. I would definitely recommend Milano's to anyone who likes a warm and welcoming place, great service , and also great food.
Great food! Very nice ambiance. Mostly Italian dishes with a full bar. Pizza is excellent, brick oven. I had far diavolo pasta with sausage and shrimp. Everything is fresh. We went on a Saturday night and I am surprised it was not busy at all. Possibly because it was a holiday weekend.
My family and I went to Milano's to use a$100 gift card, that I had won in a raffle. The décor is stunning, and the manager is cordial and welcoming. It was great to know that the gift card never expired. (Nice feature!) My granddaughter was in attendance, and her mother requested that part of her dinner portion be modified for the four year old. Our server went above and beyond, as he made this request to the chef. Our server was friendly, competent, and unflappable. The food was exquisite, and our desserts a special delight. I would highly recommend this restaurant to diners.
While wondering where our cold appetizer was after 30 minutes, we were advised that both sous chefs called in sick and our app was waiting in a 'different spot' than normal. If you've dined here before you know the kitchen layout and that excuse doesn't make sense. Regardless, it took much too long and although the food was good it did not overcome the poor service on a night were the crowd was very small. For this price point the service needs to improve dramatically.
When planning an evening at the nearby Curtain Call Theatre, we thought we'd get back to Milano beforehand. It's been several months, but the place continues to have a bustling, professional flare, excellent service and superb food. The wine list and cocktails were expertly prepared. The bruschetta appetizer was far too much for one person, but the three different combos offered were each a tasty bite. The halibut special was beautifully cooked and presented. We'll be back! (And they got us out in plenty of time to make the curtain!)
I enjoyed the Salsiccie e Funghi Pizza, which was perfectly cooked. My business acquaintance raved about the Vitello Alla Fiorentina, which was seasoned to his liking. Marie answering our questions about the menu and provided attentive service. Before you go, I recommend checking the menu at the restaurant web site to see the specials, which intrigued me. I am sorry that I did not have room for dessert! The next time I am in the area, I will return.
We went on a Thursday evening and it was fairly quiet. We hadn't been there in a long time, and found that while prices had gone up, the food choices and quality overall were very good. There's a nice selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian options, though I wouldn't recommend it for strict vegans. It's an Italian restaurant after all-cheese in and on almost everything though they could not use it on their salads if requested. Overall the atmosphere is very naive and our waiter was excellent.
We have dined here many times, but had not been here for sometime. We were very happy we did. I had a cousin visiting from California. Had not seen him in 61 yrs. I had to change the time of our reservation at the last minute and they were very accomadating. Our service was friendly, prompt, informative. The food was hot and excellent. My cousin was impressed.
Last night reminded us of why we stood away from Milano for months. Service was terrible! We asked for more bread because our waitress took forever to take our order . We ended up asking the hostess who was walking around for more bread. Then finally our food came and I was brought the wrong dish and I told the hostess I'll take it anyway because everyone else had their dish and I didn't want to wait longer. She returned with the right dish. Long story short- they need to get their act together and find people that are pleasant and competent
When they opened years ago, it was great- but now it seems no one cares. Will not be going back.
My son's girlfriend was visiting from Wales and it was her last night here in Latham. So what better place to go to is Milano's. We had a 7 pm reservation and since it's a holiday weekend it wasn't terribly crowded. We started off with a bottle TENET CELLARS “THE PUNDIT” SYRAH/GRENACHE 2013 blend from COLOMBIA VALLEY,. The cost was $49, which is very reasonable. My wife and I shared the BURRATA E PEPE **Burrata, Roasted Red Peppers, Basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil for around $13 and my son and his girlfriend had ARANCINi Fried Risotto Balls, Tomato,Goat Cheese, Basil for around $13. Both were nicely presented and very flavorful. For our main entrees our waiter Rob(the best waiter) was able to make a Duck Confit pizza for me. It was not on the menu, but they had all the ingredients to make it so the cooks were very accommodating. The cost was $17. My son had the RAVIOLI I FUNGHI PORCINI ARROSTO
Wild Mushroom Ravioli, Truffle Butter Sauce, Wild Mushrooms, Cipollini Onions, Peas for around $23. His girlfriend had the TORTELLINI ALLA BISANZIO Tomato, Spinach, Egg Tortellini Filled with Cheese, Tomato-Basil Cream Sauce for around $22. My wife had the CON POLLO
Grilled Chicken, Pesto, Shiitake Mushrooms, Roasted Red Peppers, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Pine Nuts, Fontina for $17.50. For dessert we all shared warm almond sponge cake with fresh berries & vanilla ice cream for $11. Presentation for all the items were beautiful. Service and the food is what we love about Milano's. Rob is so personable, but all the wait staff make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Total cost for the four of us with a 22% tip came to $220. Well worth the experience. I definitely recommend Milano's to anyone who appreciates fine food and service with a moderate cost.
Disappointing meal....this was a favorite of ours for many years, but things have changed! My special pasta which included scallops and chorizo was watery and bland. Ditto for the linguine Vongole ..with no fresh clams. Artichoke salad was tasty. You no longer get consistent high quality food here....
I know it's an Italian restaurant but I consider it one of my favorite seafood restaurants. My linguini Adriatica was wonderful...loaded with seafood. Both our server, Lisa, and the chef made sure it was ok with my food allergy. Everything is made to order....it's nice to not have to drive to Hudson for homemade pasta. I hope to return again later this week.
My son was home from school in NYC for a job interview on Friday so my wife and I thought that it would be nice to take him to Milano's . We ordered a bottle of TENET CELLARS “THE PUNDIT” SYRAH/GRENACHE 2013 - COLOMBIA VALLEY, WA for $49. A nice everyday wine that is not overpowering. My son ordered the tuna tartar for an appetizer , which he thoroughly enjoyed. My wife and I shared the BURRATA E PEPE ***Burrata, Roasted Red Peppers, Basil,
Extra Virgin Olive Oil for around $12. It's a really nice appetizer. For our main entrees my son had theTORTELLINI ALLA BISANZIO Tomato, Spinach, Egg Tortellini Filled with Cheese, Tomato-Basil Cream Sauce for $20.75, my wife had theFETTUCCINE ROSELLINI Grilled Shrimp, Sweet Garlic Cream Sauce, Fettuccini for $23.95 , and I ordered the pizza special which was grilled chicken in a avocado chile sauce will fontina, and smoked mozzarella cheese for $16. Everyone loved their meal. As always I asked for Rob to wait on us, even though all their waiters are fine, but Rob and Marie are my favorites. Frank the manager greeted us as soon as he saw us. Frank is the type of manager that wants to make sure you are welcomed at Milano's, plus he's always helping out bussing the tables and getting them ready for the next customer. The restaurant was very crowded, but everything can out in a timely manner and was cooked perfectly. Since I'm a loyalty member I had a $35 to put against the total. My son had a cappuccino and my wife and my son shared honey gelato in a pastry shell. The total bill for the three of us with a 22% tip came to $140. Well worth the price. Milano's is one of my favorite places to go. It's has a great atmosphere even though it can get very busy.
