Mikey's Ratings and Reviews
Our first time there. Excellent server. Food plating presentation was well done. Comment from two that had bloody Mary's that they seemed bland, not enough seasoning. The salad and sandwiches were very good but the dessert....key lime bar was better then excellent, just needed to be served with spoons without having such deep bowl to them. We used our forks and enjoyed them to the very end.
First and last time at Mikey's. Started off with something very slimy in my friend's salad. Then, the brisket sandwich was very dry and had to ask for additional bbq sauce, which when going to a bbq place, you would think they would bring their signature sauces automatically. Had to actually take the bun off and look to see if there was really cheese on the sandwich. The homemade chips were ok - you could tell they didn't use any salt or seasoning when making them. Our dessert was supposed to be red velvet cake with cream cheese mousse layers and hot fudge on top. The cream cheese mousse layers were nothing like mousse - quite rubbery and gross and there was no hot fudge on top. When asked the waitress about the hot fudge, she said, no, sorry, not on this dessert. We did point to the table next to us with the same dessert that had hot fudge and she just shrugged and walked away. Also, my friend and I both had a sprite. My friend asked for water 1/2 way thru our meal. The waitress came over and gave her water, which I wasn't paying much attention to until she asked if I wanted water as well and I said, sure. She poured both of our waters in our SODA glasses! Would not recommend this place to anyone!
We really enjoyed our meal. We had the Downtown Dining Week special dinner and it was very good. Our server was very attentive as was the host who made time to stop and ask us how we were enjoying our meal. The BBQ is solid. It's not the best we've had but it is proper BBQ. We will be back for sure.
Service was excellent. Food portion we all thought was on the small side, the wings were very good, cheese curds also. We had ribs, brisket, pulled chicken. The ribs were done perfectly. Pulled chicken was good, however the brisket was hot and miss. Some was tender and done right, some was dry, a bit fatty and tough. Overall though we were happy with our experience.
Sadly, we were not able to eat at Mikey's. Although we were able to make our reservations on Open Table for 5pm on Friday 11/25/16 when we arrived the restaurant was closed!
We ended up going next door to eat. No signs on the doors or anything. When we left the other restaurant Mikey's was still closed (at 6:45pm).
It's too bad we didn't receive notification that they place was closed.
Mi*key's was overall a disappointing experience for our group. We had a reservation for 6pm. We were for most of the time, the only people in the place. While they did meet our request to be done with our dinner close to 7 (as we has an event to attend) the food was just OK for the price. Brisket and chicken were dry, and the sauces were nothing exciting. While we were eating, they turned down the lighting down so low that we needed to use our phone lights to read the sauce bottles! The location and view of the cathedral are great, sadly Mi*key's is not.
I would only recommend this place if you want to see a bunch of young waitresses wearing itty bitty, skin-tight dresses. That whole vibe really turned turned me off and it makes me think the owner is a creep. Brisket and pork were dry and not very flavorful. At least the cheese curds were good.
I chose Mikey's for one of the evenings during Downtown Dining week as I hadn't been there in a few years. My previous experience was very good, but this was just ok. The server was very personable, but that didn't make up for the lackluster food and delays with staff helping her. Because of this experience, I probably won't go back soon as there are so many other choices in the area. I wish more restaurants took advantage of the opportunity to shine during downtown dining week instead of treating it like a burden and discouraging diners.
For a drink at bar and atmosphere, this place is ok. But if you are looking for good food, BBQ, etc it is not worth your time or money. If the prices were cut in half, then I would say to go ahead and have the chicken. They have several sauces to choose from and all were horrible. We decided to eat our meat with no sauce. The desserts were we're not any better. The plain vanilla ice cream, not even vanilla bean, was the best part of the dessert. Save your money! If you want good barbecue, I would recommend L D's BBQ it is great and it is at a gas station. And no,I do not work or own LD's BBQ.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with the new direction that the menu is taking since I was a fan of the previous offerings. However, the BBQ was well received at our table. I enjoyed the smoked chicken breast, my husband thoroughly enjoyed the ribs and my daughter was happy with the pulled pork shoulder.
The only issue that I do have with the menu is that it is pretty much a la carte; the sides are sold @ $4 ea. Also, for those of us who do not eat pork, the collard/mustard greens as well as the baked beans are off limits since the dishes are prepared with pork and/or pork sausage. Unfortunately, vegetarian options were not offered for these dishes.
Service was ok. I always enjoy the music selection playing.
The Skylight Cosmopolitan is absolutely delicious.
With the crisp night air, a full moon and cathedral square up front, the night was one to remember. We were there early in the evening and enjoyed a relaxing and tasty dinner before a play at the Pabst Theater.
Waitress was a gem, place was clean and the industrial atmosphere was great for all ages.
I was highly impressed by this restaurant as I had a gift card to use from my birthday & just so happened to pick this place out of 6 different choices. I was very pleased with the bar tender, the appetizer we ordered (spinach & artichoke dip), our drinks & our main meal that I have to say was amazing. Everything was outstanding and would recommend this place to my family and friends, as we will for sure be going back.
