Mike's Bistro - UES Ratings and Reviews
The food was very basic, without artistic merit. I would not recommend it at all. For such a price, much better fare is available elsewhere. The "dessert" fruit cup could be had from a local fast food diner. The bland quail was of an underwhelming proportion which left me hungry. The soup, well, let's say it was also a very small proportion of a basic root vegetable. The salad (jicama/beet) was the only item on the fixed price lunch menu that deserves anything above a 1 star... perhaps grasping at 2 to3 stars. 'Amazing that this establishment can stay in business.
Elegant restaurant with creative food and excellent service. Highly recommend the corn soup for an appetizer and the Rib for the main both were bursting with mouthwatering flavours. The only criticism was that the portions were small and menu over priced ( $18 for the soup which was no bigger than a cup o soup) but if you can get over that it's worth it.
An overall great experience. The decor is a little lackluster but overall airy and pleasant. The food was really outstanding. Everything from the tuna to the steak was really well prepared with fresh local ingredients. Our server couldn't have been nicer and more attentative.
Our friend was visiting from Israel and we wanted to take him to a special place. We had a wonderful time at Mike's Bistro. Service was friendly and knowledgeable from beginning to end. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We started with a proseco followed by red wine from Douro. Our appetizers were gnocchi (a must), sweetbread, taquitos, beet salad (a must). Everything was delicious. The main courses were short ribs, duck, beef special for two. They were all excellent - my favorite was the short ribs dish. We had two desserts that we shared - they were not too sweet, just the way I like it. I wish I would remember their names... My friends loved the food and we did too. I would and will recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
Service was nice although it was a little loud it still had a nice feel. Dessert was great salad was good I got mashed potatoes with my USDA prime steak for 2 and was extremely disappointed with the potatoes it tasted watery and something you may expect from a school lunch. The steak was a lot better then good but I wouldn't say it was the best steak in NY. presentation was nice but i was expecting more flavor. Wife really enjoyed so I would say it was worth it.
Food was good - but too expensive for the size of the portion. It was the first time (in a very long time) that I needed to order desert since I was still hungry. That didn't help much either.
But yes - every piece of meat was pretty good (again - not for that price).
delicious upscale food and ambiance. Waiter was polite and well versed in the menu options. Drinks were awesome as well. It was packed with people but our food came rather quickly and noise level was not too bad. We had the Gnocci, dumplings, chicken breast, and steak eggplant dish. Everything was very tasty. For dessert we split the Apple pie and that was great as well! Would definitely recommend this place to any foodie looking for a special night out with unique dishes prepared nicely!
Have been to Mikes several times and always had a good dinner. Not this time! After being seated I was subjected to continuous up-selling with pressure. The prices have increased substantially and the attitude of the wait staff was deplorable. Any request that was not routine was met with we don't do that response. Also there was a constant desire to remove dishes from the table despite the fact that we were not finished with the dish. For the price you should be treated as a king and I will be spending my dollars for kosher food at other establishments. Very disappointed.
