Mikado at Desert Springs JW Marriott
Mikado at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa is known throughout the Coachella Valley and Southern California as the leader in authentic Teppan-Yaki Dining.
But it doesn’t stop there! East meets West at the ultimate sushi bar where you can relax and enjoy the freshest foods and a signature martini or sake. Celebrate an intimate gathering or a private function up to 140 guests at Mikado where the food is the show! Arigato!
Lack of traditional sauces was disappointing. So loud you had to yell over the noise
Very entertaining experience. Jeremy, our chef was very engaging. Lots of food. Alcoholic beverages were a little pricey, but good quality. Will return each time I am in the area.
Food was great, and service excellent! I definitely I recommend this place .
Great experience! It was so much fun and the food was actually pretty good . It is expensive but you are paying for the social with others at the table and the chef antics!
The experience here was amazing we had appetizers in the lounge which were grest the sushi chefs Kenny & Mike are amazing very creative! Then we had dinner at the tables & Noly our chef was funny & friendly the food was great our server was friendly also
Great show. Kids menu is so good.
Very good mood. We had wonderful time.
We enjoy the meal every time we go at the Mikado. Just taking a little boat to the restaurant is fun especially for families and the meal that's made in front of you is extremely fresh and tasty.
like to come again and recommend have combination menu.
The level of service has gone down so much. Our chef was not interesting at all. There was no show. Just someone cooking in front of us. No show!
There were 8 of us in our party and I very much appreciated the fact that we were able to get separate checks (4 of them) and we filled one table. Our chef Jamie was wonderful and our hostess (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) was absolutely terrific. I haven't been there for several years and forgot how much delicious food there is (lots of take home). We were a group of older people- (2 in their 60s, 3 in mid to late 70s, and 3 in their late 80s) so the only complaint I would have (and it's really not a complaint because it's something a restaurant cannot control unless there are private rooms) is that it was very noisy. For older people with hearing challenges, it's a problem. However, with that said, we all had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion of family and friends getting together. Great food and great service. Thank you!
We’ve been to a lot of Teppanyaki places and this by far has been the best: skills, humor, attentiveness... we’ll be back!
We had a great time at Mikado. The chef was amazing. He was funny and friendly. We got to meat great families from other country’s at our table. The food was amazing and we left stuffed.
Good food, was entertaining, not bad on price. Great service by our waitress.
As always The food was fantastic, the service was exceptional, our chef was delightful and overall really enjoyed my experience!
Fabulous evening! Fun atmosphere, delicious food, & very attentive staff!
It was our first visit but will definitely not be our last. We had an enjoyable time. The chef was very entertaining and serves a great meal.
It was great
Everything was good except the service.
Whenever you go out for Tappan your experience depends on the theatrics of your Teppan cook along the food and service and our experience when we went on a Thursday night was just about as good as it gets.
We sat down and while we were waiting we watched to table next to us and there as not an ounce of energy. Not from the chef nor from the guests around the table. We even noticed that when the chef was done cooking he just walked away. He didn't attempt to clean his grill nor take his supplies back. When we saw this I was very concerned about what we could expect.
Our chef Juan came up and did a really good job doing engaging the table and doing a few tricks which I hadn't seen before. He went on a rant of really corney jokes and made sure that we were thoroughly entertained.
For taste of the food was some of the best Teppan I have had. The shrimp wasn't overcook and the steak I had was cooked perfectly and was very tender. Even the fried rice had great flavor.
It was fun at the end when it was time to toss the pieces of shrimp in everyone's mouth and he even had all the kids sit in chairs between 10-15 feet away and tossed shrimp to them.
It was a fun night and the food was very good. We lucked out and we left happy!!!
The chef was fun but the drink server was very slow. The food comes way too fast. For the price you pay, you want to linger longer... $260 for two adults and a child in a little over an hour. Too much, too fast.
Very disappointed in the bar every time when come no service can never get a drink have to wait there so un organized
New year dinner with family and friends, great food and our chef was very entertaining so he made it a fun experience ! We always enjoying eating there when we are here on vacation !
Great food and service. We take our family of 10 her for new years eve every year and they never disappoint.
For the price not the best choice for a New Year’s dinner. Crowded seating and hurried eating experience.
First time here. Had a great experience. My daughter has several food allergies and they were able to accommodate.
Great experience thanks to our hostess.
Marriott as a whole is gone way overboard with pricing. This restaurant was always pricy but this time crossed another line completely. We will not be returning
food and service were great!! our chef manny was great a bit expensive but big portions and delicious
Everything about this restaurant is great. It is a bit pricey just know that going in but worth every penny. Quality of food is very good.
We had a great time!
Dinned at Mikado during my stay at JW my reservation was at 8:30 didn’t get seated til 9.
I was a bit hangry but it was worth the wait the food was really good definitely would return . The only downside is that I ordered chicken and shrimp andI didn’t like the chicken , also the menu didn’t state it came with teriyaki sauce .
My husband got the chicken & filet mignon it was really good but he also disliked the chicken .
Everything else was great the ambiance was good and the chef made us laugh .
The ice cream at the end was a nice gesture
I am obsessed with the ginger drop martini !
The food and entertainment was fantastic! Service was amazing. Got there early enough to hear the team meeting before they started. The manager spoke to his team in a disgusting way. Our entire table had our jaws open from his speech. Our favorite part was “I am the boss so I don’t lift a finger around here! You do all the work and I do nothing”. I can not support a business that treats employees this way no matter how good the food and service is. This manager has no right having his position. He realized that our entire table heard his tyrant and offered a weak apology before disappearing to do nothing.
Their meat selection is the best, the cooks are vibrant, energetic, humorous and talented!
This is our go to place for special clients. The food is exceptional and always a fun time.
The chef was a great entertainer and service was excellent. The problem was the chicken, fish, beef was drowning in sauce and same spice it drowned out the flavour of the actual food. The vegetables were fresh and good, but again to much sauce.
We were all provided with dipping sauces so not sure why so much sauce is added during the cooking.
Beautiful location, loved the boat ride to the Mikado.
We had gone for a special occasion, so the ambiance was important. It provided that. Service was very good , but the food price was high. I would still go back again but try some sushi rather than tapanyaki.
Great for a noisy celebration.
