Mikado at Desert Springs JW Marriott Ratings and Reviews
Noly was our chef and he was pretty amazing! He did a great job keeping everyone amused and the food cooked was fantabulous! An awesome experience and will be back.:) Also the dessert was exquisite and so tasty and light! Loved the whole night:) not to mention the boat ride and the scenery.:)
Valentine’s with my kids and husband.
First dinner date for valentines we decided to show our teen boys what dating should look and feel like .
We had made a month plan to go to this restaurant for the sole fact it would be kid friendly and there was a boat that would be romantic to show them the awe of the night.Upon arrival to the Marriott @ 6:20pm we did not see the boat in the dock so walked around to the restaurant and seen the boat pull away from the restaurant. We arrived 6:30pm we asked the hostess at the front if we could possibly check in early and run back to ride the boat back to the restaurant . She informed me NO that would be too long once we call your party we do not wait for you and since it’s busy tonight we do not have the 15minute grace period. This reaction scared us enough to not even risk it and check in 30 minutes early as our reservation was at 7 pm. The host continued to speak in such tone “ so what do you want to do ?” Once I said let’s just check in .She said” ok well here is the prefixed Valentines menu is this ok ? “ I replied wait I made the reservations under the impression there was no prefix because on open table they did not say there was a pre fix. Her reply “ well ya that’s not our fault we don’t own open table “ that comment of hers shocked me so much. I replied I am aware you don’t own them but also aware that they do state if there is a prefix menus for valentines as this was not something I wanted for valentines I avoided all the prefix restaurants on open table on purpose. So felt like a big bate and switch. The problem was not that alone it was the hostess way on not caring then continuing to say” well so are you ok with it or not ? I have others I need to check in and if you don’t want it you can go ride the boat and go to another restaurant .” Needless to say this was crazy as then we waiting till 7:20 to be seated due to the other party being Late Really !! The food was amazing the chef and servers was amazing.
Great Valentine’s Day dinner with the family. Two of our family members are vegetarian and they charged us less for their meals even though they had a limited menu for $75 a person. We also appreciated the little desert at the end. Just the perfect size, since we were so full.
Our chef was a true hi light. Tons of personality and good with interaction believe his name was Scott. He had our party and the whole table next to us engaged. Our table cooked food was excellent kitchen prepared not so good. Shrimp Tempura rather soggy, to much dressing on salad ruining the balance of flavors.
Miso soup tepid.
I took my mom and friends here for her birthday. The atmosphere was fun but overpriced for the food quality. I would go somewhere else if I was going to spend the kind of money spent. For example, the desert they brought my mom was an old brownie with old vanilla ice cream. The price for food and adult beverages for six was nearly $600!
We made a reservation. When we arrived, this is the first restaurant at which we were not made to feel welcome at all. The hostess did not greet us, but she made us feel like we were being grilled, asking us if we planned to have their main course at their common dining tables, or to have appetizers. We were not sure and hoped to make that decision to have either at our table. Turns out we had no option but to have their sit down Japanese dinner with seating around the chef, or sit in the lounge if we wanted sushi rolls and appetizers. This was not at all explained on their website. The lounge is small and has very limited un-comfortable seating, appearing more to be a place where people just grab a quick drink before heading into the main seating area. We did order sushi rolls and a drink, which were all fine. When were leaving the hostess did not make any effort to thank us for coming, or even acknowledge us, which she had ample time to do as there was no one checking in. Very disappointed. We will not be back.
Great experience! We were in town for a gymnastics meet that ended late. They accommodated our large, tired party with all of our food restrictions and allergies. The chef was funny and kept the kids laughing way past their bedtimes. Great service, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food. Would definitely recommend and we'll go back for sure the next time we're in town!
Always enjoy the overall experience from the boat ride to the dinner show! However, stressed how this was a 40th Birthday celebration and asked for a fun cook as I have been for bdays previously and cooks do special things! Unfortunately, our cook was not made aware it was for 40th Birthday and hostess didn’t seem to care when she was asked. Someone in our party finally said something and the cook was surprised as he hadn’t been informed! Server said if someone told him he knew but didn’t inquire as to wether or not he was aware when spending over $400 At restaurant that asked if it was a special occasion and they dropped the ball is a little disturbing! Not the cooks fault but just a bummer
Went for New Years Eve and had a wonderful time! The Chef's are very entertaining and know how to have fun with everyone. The food and all it's fixing's is great and cooked to perfection. We would recommend this restaurant for any special ocasion or just fot a night out.
The type of experience you have is greatly dependent upon the chef you get and with whom you are seated. We have been here before where we had a really fun time whooping it up. This time we were seated with a sedate family and a low key chef. But either way, the food is excellent and its worth the trip. Prices are on the high side, but you're paying for a show from the chef. Also, the portions are very large, so lots available for a doggie bag and yummy leftovers the next day.
Let me begin by explaining the reason for the noise level being energetic is due to small children not being quieted by their parents. The food was well prepared and we were well taken care of by the chef and waitress. However, the reservation did not detail seating is only teppanyaki.
Also, the magic of taking a "boat" to the restaurant was squashed by the Marriott. We were told three different times (4, 4:30 and 5pm) the boats were beginning to begin taking passengers and that five boats would be running. We had reservations at 5pm and were in line at 4pm for the TWO boats that were running. We were informed the "ride" would take 10 minutes. We explained we had reservations at 5pm and were concerned we would not be on the boat in time. Again at 4:30pm, we were told, "don't worry, there's going to be five boats running"; only two boats were running. Long story short-kinda-we had to get out of line at 4:45 to quickly walk over to the restaurant. So much for a magical evening.
My recommendation is to get in line an hour earlier than your reservation and make a later reservation if possible.
Our service was great . Our food was great. Our chef was great! The lighting is so bright sitting at those big tables - it would have been great if after he finished cooking, they dimmed the lights so you didn't feel like you were in a big warehouse with bright bright bright lights shining down on you the whole time.
