IT WAS MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY SO WE THOUGHT WE WOULD GO SOME PLACE SPECIAL WHAT
A DISAPPOINTMENT WE GOT. OUR BILL WAS CLOSE TO $200.00 FOR THE WHOLE THING. IT
WASN'T WORTH 1/2 THAT. ON TO BETTER THINGS FOR US.

It was a great evening. The chefs were excellent and the food was delicious 😋
We usually love Mikado's, but tonight not as much. They semmed to really squeeze way to may seats together. (More room on ecomony airline flight). The man who was very nice sitting beside me as my husband was on my right and the gentlemen on my left was actually touching arms and we had a tough time eating b/c our seats were together with absolutely no room to move.
My rice had so much garlic in it that my stomach hurt for hours & I love garlic, but this was WAY TO MUCH!. The soup was cold, so I changed it for the salad. Our Filet was not medium how we asked, but well done. Waiting for all the others at the table three families as they sit you around the open grill top for the funny cook to do a little presentation and cook for everyone. So, sending the food back would interrupt everyone that already waited an hr to have their food and anyone else sitting not on and end was as cramped as I was. The price for the food is already really on the $$ side, so I was disappointed. It was so crampled for me that we left before the ice-cream (orange sherbet or green-tea) came. I will go back, but only with sitting at an end or with 11 or 12 people in my party, so not to feel that uncomfortable personal space issue with strangers.
We liked our chef very much. He did a great job keeping the table engaged. I would say the food was ok. Since our "table companions" arrived inebriated, they were loud and a bit disruptive. We were four guests. We had one appetizer, three drinks and four meals. Our bill was almost $400... I lot for what we got, even considering the chef's entertainment.
Very nice ambiance , were seated at bar for drinks waiting for our table . Waitress ignored us for 15 minutes then decided to go to bar and get them myself. 5 minutes later our table was ready . The cook was friendly and did a great job the food was ok nothing special. The determining factor is price . Would not go back at these prices for average quality food. $50 average per entree .
We were at this restaurant for many times but this time it was disappointing
The show was half less fun because of the cook
The service was slow, we would order more drinks but nobody was around
It was our daughters birthday and I wrote it down when I booked the table but no surprise for her; only for another women on the table...
Also we didn’t receive the points for booking through open table
We had a great time! We were there for a birthday party but I would go with a large group on any day. Food was fantastic, service was great! Our chef Ricardo was fun and entertaining
I've been to a lot of hibachi steakhouses. The noise in the table area of this one bounces throughout the room making it so loud you can't have a regular conversation. The smoke the hibachi cooking creates, lingers in the air 15+ minutes after they are done cooking. Also, the canned lights are above all the chairs and feels a bit like interrogation lighting, not good for pics because of the shadows on you the lights cause. Finally, if you don't like salty food, I suggest you tell them no soy sauce as it is put on everything they prepare. Other than that, the grounds and lobby are very pretty. Our server and chef were good, friendly and fun.
Enjoyable — especially the Chef, Scott! Quality of food was very good for this type of restaurant. Service at hibachi table is good but waiting/bar area needs better wait service.
A very fun and delicious meal while on vacation. We had a great time.
Good. Not as good as years prior. They were behind schedule, our experience was rushed. They use too much oil, and it’s not not a healthy oil, canola blend.
This is a wonderful restaurant - a real 'show' as they cook at your table and set things on fire! - and a 'must see/experience' for all ages! Pretty hard to believe that you can actually take a beautiful boat ride from the lobby of the JW Resort - to this amazing restaurant, while relaxing in the desert! What?
Waited 30 mins to get seated. Had to ask if they forgot about us. Once inside it was awesome. Great food and service. Would have been nice to let us know there was a wait and there woukd have been no problem. They just let us sit and wonder.
Was not what we expected.
We had a 6:30 reservation but weren’t seated until after 7:00. The chef was fun too watch and our kids enjoyed the show. The food was what I’ve come to expect at Japanese steak houses: decent stir fry and so-so meats. It cost us roughly $50/ each for our party of 8 including 5 kids. For that money there are a lot of other places I would choose to eat.
The staff was outstanding and our chef was funny and entertaining.
After the chef was done cooking, we were left alone until the ice cream was brought. We all wanted more wine, but no one came. No one checked on us.
Great experience as usual. An annual event for us when in Palm Springs
Very good Japanese steakhouse. The chef wasn’t over the top obnoxious; perfect combination of skill and humor.
Birthdays for my husband
Excellent food and a hilarious chef...he was up on his one-liners. However, the interior layout and decor is quite tired and dated. Bar is quite small with terrible service--we waited 15 minutes for a waitress in an empty bar.
Mikado is always great. We never miss it when it Palm Springs. The service is very prompt and friendly. The menu choices for the sushi are plentiful. Though all the fun is about the tappan yaki chef's performance of making the meal one doesn't have to do that.
Disappointed with the chef chosen for our table. As other chefs around us were entertaining the guests at their tables, our chef walked up and barely spoke to us. We wished we had been seated at the fun table across from us. I had planned this visit to Mikado as a birthday dinner for my 14 year old granddaughter. The boat ride over is the best way to arrive for dinner.
We had a fun birthday celebration at Mikado. We opted to eat in the sushi appy area of the restaurant as it seemed a little more romantic. Our waiter was amazing. He offered great food and wine suggestions! Wonderful evening!
our chef was very funny, entertaining and attentive.
But ir costs 450 dollars for 6 people. No drinking but 2 glasses of wine. Can't go back there for a LONG time. I think that's a shame. Plus I split my meal w my husband. 5 star except for price.50 a person can take once in a while, but really... this is a group hibachi exp. ...too much.
Fantastic. Teppanaki chef just was not very engaging compared to past experiences
Best cosmopolitan I’ve had in Desert - Sisti in and have Sherwin make it for you. Table side chef was great - our other table mates were a young family with 2 daughters and a retired couple. Both were genuinely friendly making for a very pleasant evening. Only negative was I thought food was a little too salted for my taste.
the bar before dinner was friendly and entertaining. The teppanyaki Dinner was delicious, sat around with 8 others so for a solo traveller it was great to visit with other tourists. Our chef was entertaining as well as cooked the food to perfection. Then back to the bar for a nightcap. I would definitely eat there again.
Such a wonderful experience! The only bad part was we had to wait an hour for our table.
We had a lot of fun love our sushi chef.,
The room in which we sat was uncomfortably cold, and far too large for even the chef experience offered. No one in our party enjoyed the physical environment at all. Came across as very impersonal. Ate with our coats on the entire time.
So much fun! We stay at the JW Marriott every year and always eat at Mikado one of the nights. Never disappoints!
Because we were unable to get into Morton’s on such short notice, we opted for Mikado (which they gladly served us on short notice aaaand kindly reseated us due to my daughter’s tardiness). From the friendly hostesses, to the effervescent bartender (Sherwin) who made, to our gracious server (Aida), and to our comedic chef (Manny) ...our meal was delightful and delicious, and we are sooo glad we skipped bougie Morton’s on this go-round.
Sincerely,
Yvonne Monahan
PS. The Dragon Breath cocktail makes you wanna marry a dragon😍😍😍😍
Waited at least 15 minutes beyond our booked time and took some time before anyone came to takeba drinks order. Food was good and the chef entertaining.
A must stop for us every time we visit Palm Desert- fun, friendly, tasty food, and wonderful memories.
Went with daughter and grandchildren, we all loved it. Food quality was excellent. Chef was very entertaining. Children loved it and had a blast!,
Late Valentines Day
A very fun experience! My SO had never been to a teppan-yaki restaurant so the show by the chef was new and fun for her. Food was good, waitstaff was excellent. Worth the $$
Noly was our chef and he was pretty amazing! He did a great job keeping everyone amused and the food cooked was fantabulous! An awesome experience and will be back.:) Also the dessert was exquisite and so tasty and light! Loved the whole night:) not to mention the boat ride and the scenery.:)
Valentine’s with my kids and husband.
First dinner date for valentines we decided to show our teen boys what dating should look and feel like .
We had made a month plan to go to this restaurant for the sole fact it would be kid friendly and there was a boat that would be romantic to show them the awe of the night.Upon arrival to the Marriott @ 6:20pm we did not see the boat in the dock so walked around to the restaurant and seen the boat pull away from the restaurant. We arrived 6:30pm we asked the hostess at the front if we could possibly check in early and run back to ride the boat back to the restaurant . She informed me NO that would be too long once we call your party we do not wait for you and since it’s busy tonight we do not have the 15minute grace period. This reaction scared us enough to not even risk it and check in 30 minutes early as our reservation was at 7 pm. The host continued to speak in such tone “ so what do you want to do ?” Once I said let’s just check in .She said” ok well here is the prefixed Valentines menu is this ok ? “ I replied wait I made the reservations under the impression there was no prefix because on open table they did not say there was a pre fix. Her reply “ well ya that’s not our fault we don’t own open table “ that comment of hers shocked me so much. I replied I am aware you don’t own them but also aware that they do state if there is a prefix menus for valentines as this was not something I wanted for valentines I avoided all the prefix restaurants on open table on purpose. So felt like a big bate and switch. The problem was not that alone it was the hostess way on not caring then continuing to say” well so are you ok with it or not ? I have others I need to check in and if you don’t want it you can go ride the boat and go to another restaurant .” Needless to say this was crazy as then we waiting till 7:20 to be seated due to the other party being Late Really !! The food was amazing the chef and servers was amazing.
