Mignon - Prime Steaks, Seafood and Cocktails Ratings and Reviews
I went to Mignon for the Christmas day buffet. My experience started badly with them having blocked off most of the car park for valet parking, even though barely a quarter of the spaces were being used and there were still not enough valets. So I parked a walk away in almost freezing temperatures. When I got in, they then tried to seat me at a high top table in the bar, literally 10' from the door, even though I had booked. I refused and was found a table in the main restaurant. It did look like they were trying to cram in as many tables as possible as there was very little space to walk between them, and their wait staff almost walked into me on more than one occasion. I then waited close to 10 minutes for my server to appear and offer me a drink.
Having said that, I don't want to appear Scrooge-like. It was Christmas day after all, and they were obviously trying something new. Once I actually hit to try the food it was fantastic. All of it. I tried all of the entrees and the turkey and short rib were particularly good. When the check came, I had only been charged for my drink and not dinner (I assume many people had paid in advance), but my Christmas goodwill kicked in and I pointed out their $60 mistake.
If their food is normally as good as this I'd go back again for sure. Just as long as they left me somewhere to park and didn't make getting to my table such a chore.
We were visiting Dallas for the holidays and wanted a place to Dine on Christmas Day. We were not aware we could not order from the regular menu. There was a Christmas Buffet being served and the selections were absolutely horrible. What was worse, the price was outrageous and the food tasted horrible. This was our first time visiting this restaurant and at this point, we probably wouldn’t consider returning.
There for Christmas dinner with a coworker. Both of our families are out of state so better to be with a friend than alone on Christmas Day.
That said, only their Christmas buffet was available with no alternative menu options so I can’t base my opinion on their standard menu.
Service was prompt, courteous and attentive. The buffet was fairly well stocked, the food was fresh and had good flavor.
My only recommendation is for this location to set things up so that BOTH sides of the buffet are accessible to guests, rather than one side reserved for staff - the line would bottleneck frequently and was very inefficient (we were seated nearby) with this one-side configuration.
I had previously seen a alternate holiday menu online which offered three courses with specific selections offered for this occasion for an additional $10 per person, but, I was told only the buffet was being served - this discrepancy was disappointing as I would have preferred that three course option but all ended well.
Rude owner, put me at a table near the Waiters booth, no room, no light to see the food, was supposed to be Prime Or Filet for Dinner, was Turkey and Ham. Was not worth no where near $133.38 for 2. Voiced my concerns and his response was completely Rude . Funny enough the waiter told me to dispute the transaction. I'm warning everyone, do not waste your time going.
This was our 7th Christmas to eat at Mignon's. In years past the food was excellent with your choice of soup, choice of entree and choice of dessert; never would I have expected a buffet for a Christmas luncheon. I was told that management made this decision two weeks before Christmas. Had I have know this I would have looked elsewhere. For $59.95 per person I would have expected more than what we were served. The turkey was dry, the short ribs overcooked and the rest of the food lukewarm at best. We have eaten at Mignon's on other special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, etc. It was our favorite special place. Now, probably never again. The management of Mignon's should be embarrassed. Just another example of a tradition being taken away.
We ate our Christmas dinner at Mignon this year. They served a buffet with many good selections. We enjoyed turkey, beef ribs, stuffing, salad, green beans, broccoli casserole and dessert as well. There were many good choices at the buffet. And the desserts were presented in small portions to make tasting more than one easier. Really good meal. And although there were many people there, the noise level was reasonable and we were able to talk with no problem. We have eaten here before on other occasions and plan to be back.
My sister and I went to Mignon for the first time on Christmas day. They served a buffet style lunch which was delicious. Turkey, Ham, Salmon and amazing Short Ribs. Of course they had the sides and salads, all of them tasting of home. While we had a nice time and enjoyed the food, I can't say I will go back any time soon. I don't mind paying the right price for a good meal. But that meal? The price should have been half.
My husband and I had reservations for Christmas Day brunch - and it was Excellent! We were welcomed in with a warm and friendly greeting, treated with warmth and courtesy by all the waiters, and thoroughly enjoyed a delicious and varied Christmas buffet. Definitely worth the $69 per person price, considering value received. Will definitely frequent them again - and won't wait until Christmas comes again to do so!
We went for Christmas Eve and for the food quality in regards to recipe, flavor and creativity it was not good in my opinion. The service was great and the ambiance was nice but the food lacked flavor / presentation. My Husband ordered the prime rib with truffle potatoes and the prime rib had way too much marbling and the truffle potatoes tastes like day old freezer french fries with no truffle flavor. My Chilean sea bass was deep fried in flavorless batter and the truffle and potato raviolis and artichoke hearts did not have much flavor and the sauce over it was very watery. I do not blame anyone who works there, they did the very best with the recipes given. I feel they need to have a different chef come in with new and better recipes to make this restaurant an outstanding place to go because other than the recipes it was great service and very well executed. I hate to complain but I just had to be fair and honest. I do thank everyone who gave it their all.
Mignon is our favorite restaurant in Dallas. It is our "go to" dining experience for entertaining out of town guests and our preference for dining with friends or just together. The hospitality is warm, the drinks are excellent, and the food is reliably superb.
My wife and I steaks were cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. The wine list was very extensive with very good wines from all over the world. The sauces were very close to being really good but the cooks or the chefs need to do a little better job at tasting what they're sending out, because a little less of this or that in a sauce can ruin it. I was disappointed.
We went for the Thanksgiving buffet and both the food and the service were great. I had my two young children with me and I felt like the restaurant was pretty kid friendly. Good tradition thanksgiving food you would have at home...
Waited 30 minutes past reservation time to be seated for no apparent reason other than no one seemed to be cleaning and resetting tables. Unfortunately the worst was yet to come! The food was the worst ever...all for the bargin price of $50. Oh yes, in the spirit of fairness, the coffee was good. Never again.
This a lovely restaurant; the wait staff and hostesses are all very congenial and energetic. The food is very good especially for such an important holiday as Thanksgiving, many of the dishes are reminiscent of home cooked dishes ( sweet potatoes and Mac & Cheese) and others have the French flair (turkey) which make it all the more enjoyable. We probably will be coming here for Thanksgiving dinner as long as the proprietors wish to open up for the folks who prefer to enjoy Thanksgiving without all the work for themselves!
