Midtown Grille Ratings and Reviews
Our first visit. The volume was VERY loud and though it reminded us of Glenwood Grill, it was much louder and costly. Not for us, but maybe for others. There are other choices closer to Cameron Village where we live. Reservations available at 7, which is why we went there.
The noise level was extreme. The food was VERY salty.
After the meal, we asked for the dessert menu and got it. However, the waitress disappeared while the noise eventually became unbearable. We had to ask another waitress for our bill, then literally ran out of there. It's no longer the upscale restaurant that we used to know. A co-worker had mentioned that he would not return, nor would we.
My husband and I joined two friends at Midtown Grille. We used to go there when it was 115 Midtown but the menu was very limited and "stale." When we became pesco-vegan we wrote it off completely.
Now Midtown Grille has a new chef who is very flexible. The menu has expanded greatly and the food is delicious. All four of us loved our appetizers, dinners and our friends raved about their dessert.
After talking to the manager we learned that if we call ahead they can make sure that there are even more pesco-vegan options for us.
I have one suggestion for the restaurant, add some sorbet to the dessert menu. Otherwise, I'm very happy dining at Midtown Grille.
Girls holiday luncheon. This was my 3 rd visit to Midtown. Each visit confirms this is an excellent place for a casual bite or a special occasion. The menu is casual with a special touch that most foodies will enjoy. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. The service was wonderful; attentive but not hovering. The shrimp and grits are the star on the menu. They are delicious and well portioned. We had the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer; a perfect way to wake up your palate. Overall it was a great experience. Looking forward to my next visit.
Went with friends for Thanksgiving dinner. We were seated at our reservation, no problem. Three of us had the turkey dinner; I had the scallops. All of us were happy with the food and the service. We ordered wine by the glass and enjoyed the offering. We have been to this restaurant before and will go again.
Thanksgiving supper with another transplanted couple was fantastic. A smaller menu still had great variety, including turkey and trimmings. I went non-traditional and had lamb sausage with veggie noodles, mid-eastern style, and was VERY happy. Nice glass of wine. Chef is creative with all his dishes, service is always friendly and attentive. Wonderful value for upscale establishment. Never fails to please.
Had the NY Strip steak and it was just ok. For the price, I expected much better, but it was tough and chewy. Also, our waiter completely messed up our checks and switched items from another party i was with. I had him correct it but still got it wrong. My patience had run out so I simply accepted the errors and paid more than I should have just to get out of there.
This was the first time we’ve tried Midtown Grille. The atmosphere is gorgeous. After receiving our food (cold) my fiancé was the only one to not get his. Our waitress didn’t even realize that he had no plate in front of him, I had to tell her. She brought an entree out and it was wrong. After he received his correct order (after everyone was half finished) the food was cold and the biscuit was so hard you couldn’t even bite through it. I really wanted to find a new sport for brunch but I don’t think I’ll return again. Hopefully it was just an off day for them.
Had dinner with 3 other people on Tuesday 11/7. The restaurant was moderately busy but there was one large group in the private seating area. The food was very good but the service was fair, at best. Part of that was probably because of the large party. They did not have enough staff to support it. Our drinks took quite a long time to come, if they did at all. We had to reorder our drinks on two different occasions, and even after that I never got my second one. They didn't charge me for it but our waitress was just not paying attention. She was polite but it was apparent that we were not her focus that night.
Food, location and ambience were good, but our orders got jammed by a large party with very little explanation or empathy about the situation - or expectation setting - by the server (Aaron?).
I would give the restaurant another opportunity, but if service is not verging on indifferent next time around.
Our first time visiting the Midtown Grille was a terrific experience. The food was excellent and our server Brooke was very attentive and skilled. She never wrote down a thing and never forgot nor mixed up anything of our orders for four people. We never felt rushed and were able to thoroughly enjoy our evening. We will definitely keep this as a dining option in the future.
Our experience fell below expectations. Salads were big on lettuce and very very light on any advertised added ingredients. Scallops entree was heavily over salted and side dish was bland. Only positive was the mussels appetizer and the attentive service. It's understandable why the restaurant was somewhat empty on Saturday evening.
We have not been particularly impressed with the fancy North Hills dining options. But stumbled on the Midtown Grille . . . and it was wonderful!
Outdoor dining was still available, so that was a plus. And our waitress was great - friendly, knowledgeable and thorough.
Both of us were pleased with our dinner and we will be going back.
Weakest link was the Blueberry & Corn Salad. Good, but not exceptional.
Our entrees were superb, and we added the crispy Brussel sprouts. Delicious, with some lemon honey, chilis and cashews.
I had the seared scallops - ample serving and supplemented with a sweet potato puree and pecan brown butter.
Deb had orecchiette, something she wouldn’t order. Lamb sausage, squash, kale and goat cheese.
This was a good find.
We frequent this restaurant and usually receive excellent service. However, Sat night was a huge disappointment. The person behind the bar was our server (why I'm not sure), and she obviously did not have the requisite training. She brought my appetizer at the same time as the entree and poured the wine without offering to sample and accept. She was uncertain as to the specials or the ingredients in the various entrees. We had brought a friend with us - and we were embarrassed at the service. There were several large parties - which seemed to preoccupy the wait staff.....but the rest of us shouldn't suffer. Very disappointed.
It was a wonderful dining experience for a wonderful occasion. The service was great and the meals were delightful. My husband and I have been here one time before as just the two of us and we love the renovations that they've done in the last year. It had a modern-comfort vibe, but the quality of food, taste and presentation is also still on point. We will be back!
Would not recommend this restaurant. I normally choose not to do restaurant reviews because the restaurant could be having an off day. However, after reading other reviews, I have to agree with what many have written. For the price, I expect quality and better tasting food. I ordered the crab cake sandwich without the bread for lunch. The crab cake was watery, tasteless and although a thin crab cake, did not appear to be cooked properly. The restaurant is in a wonderful location, nice ambiance/seating/tables, quiet, and great service. Just wish the food matched all the other qualities.
