Midtown Grille’s Chef, Marshall Smith, attended school at the New England Culinary Institute in Essex Junction, Vermont. Upon graduating, Marshall interned at the Michelin Star restaurant, L'Essentiel à Chambéry , under chef Jean-Michel Bouvier in France. When he returned to the Triangle, he opened Savoy in North Raleigh with his brother and worked as executive chef of Glass Half Full in Carrboro for the last five years. Ready to return to Raleigh and share his culinary experiences, Marshall has joined the team here at Midtown Grille.
Always a great experience. Great food, friendly service, and an ambiance that allows you to have a conversation. One of my favorites.
Delicious lunch and fun place to meet friends! Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Great dinner. Server was friendly. Food was superb. Had the wedge salad and salmon with fingerling potatoes. Highly recommend the Midtown Grille.
We enjoyed brunch very much. Excellent menu.
Steven the waiter was great! Other staff pitched in to help too.
Excellent food and service! Highly recommend. Well constructed dishes.
We went here for Sunday brunch and it was such a great experience. The food was excellent and our server was an absolute saint to our table of 5, two of which were 5 yr olds. I don't understand why they are never very busy. They should be! We've been coming here for years and, whether for brunch, lunch or dinner, we have never had a bad meal.
Excellent service, wry accommodating, great atmosphere and delicious food!
I was served the wrong beer, the crostini served with the tuna tartare was easily 2-3 days old - terribly hard and inedible. Our entrees were delicious - salmon and shrimp & grits. It’s not often I walk away from a meal feeling like I overpaid, but last night was one of those times. We will not return.
Great meal and service as usual. I highly recommend Midtowne Grille.
Had the duck, it was so tough it tasted like it had been freezer burned then microwaved. Very limited selection of wines. Nice casual eating outdoor ambience. Could have a great conversation.
Food was off the mark. Maybe a salad type place.
Good food and decent service. Environment was a bit loud which made it hard to have a business conversation.
We love this place, our go to for date night!
In a location at North Hills that brings a lot of choices to someone seeking a nice meal and not wanting to stand in line, or avoid seeking a last minute reservation, Midtown Grille disappointed a bit. There are SO many choices for dining here, and some are chains, others local restaurants. The reviews I read for the Midtown Grille were pretty good, but I am not rating them that highly. Ambiance is lacking, service is helpful, but something just seemed amiss. Maybe they couldn't hear me very well, I don't know.
We ordered two specials--Filet with Lobster Tail, asparagus. My filet was not good, very, very laden with gristle or something that made it almost uncuttable, but my wife raved about how tender her steak was. So I ate some of hers and let the waitress know. She implored me to allow them to prepare another, but I wasn't that hungry--I did push my way through a couple of pieces of the steak I received. The lobster tails were miniscule, almost silly small. My wife enjoyed a nice glass of wine, and I did as well. We don't live anywhere near Raleigh, but from a quick stab at a place to visit for a Saturday night without much energy left on our part, we left satiated. BTW, they did comp us a piece of nice coconut pie for dessert, which we wiped out thoroughly.
A little more detail to the surroundings here might bring more diners, it's just not a very cozy place.
Excellent Service, server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The food presentation was excellent. We went for a special occasion and we ended up getting a free dessert. I would highly reccomend the Midtown Grille for dinner.
We ate at Midtown Grille to celebrate my friend's promotion. Our server, Trip, was excellent. He was helpful with the selection of both wine and food. He was attentive without being intrusive. We needed a gluten-free menu and MG's was lovely. It was a very nice experience.
Great service and atmosphere. Portions s little small for the price.
Consistently fresh and delicious food, outstanding service (Zach is amazing) and great hosts. Love this place for business lunches and dinners. Great date night spot as well!
Hubs and I went for SUN brunch. I had Crab Eggs Benedict. Eggs perfectly formed yet slightly overcooked. Crab meat was OK. I prefer jumbo lump even if you have to charge more (former MD resident who is "picky" about crabs). Hubs had Midtown Omelette. Would have like more ham (thicker) and cheese. Hash brown appeared to be frozen Ore-Ideas. Excellent service (Leslie) and nice, quiet atmosphere.
Had a reservation for our anniversary. Inside was loud so sat outside and was fantastic. I would avoid calamari as appetizer...nothing special and fairly bland. However, after suggestions from server we had the bone-in ribeye and scallops which were phenomenal. Will definitely be back.
Went on the recommendation for a business dinner. There was a huge party in the bar area that made talking at our table impossible without yelling. Food was OK - our server tried to make up for the experience, however we will not return and would not recommend.
Every meal that I have had at Midtown Grille has been enjoyable, and I look forward to returning again soon.
We enjoyed our first time having brunch. The lemon poppy seed biscuit with white chocolate was a pleasant and tasty surprise. The southern benedict was so good with pimento cheese. We will be back to try lunch, dinner and brunch again!
Started by being told we didn’t have a reservation, followed by we can sit you anyway (empty resturant). Ordered a couple of very nice glasses of wine, once tasted it was either old and opened or not kept well. I ask the waiter if it was a freshly opened bottle, he replied it was. Sent it back and ordered a Beefeaters martini, when it came tasted like Plymouth but definitely not Beefeaters. Rest of the evening went about the same, she ordered a Grey Goose on the rocks, it came with olives.....don’t know why, maybe they had a lot of olives to dispose of....she doesn’t eat olives, ever! She got a small filet and 3 oz lobster tail, it may have been 3oz but the way it was cooked you couldn’t get it out of the shell. I ordered red snapper, came with jasmine rice, not sure what the long stringy things were in the rice but once cut up tasted ok. Overall, the experience will not be repeated.
Fabulous! Food is delicious! Service is impeccable! I hated listening to a fouled-mouth diner sitting in the booth behind me. No matter how much I tried to tune her out, I could not. It ruined the entire meal.
My husband and I had date night at Midtown. We were seated in a quiet corner table. The service and food were superb! We will definitively return for our anniversary
Great food and service!
Had a business meeting here for lunch - food was fantastic and service was great. Would recommend and will definitely be back!
Food was fabulous & service was very good.
Great Food and very friendly atmosphere! We sat on the patio because we brought our dog Mason.
Excellent service and good food. Friendly staff. Would recommend the restaurant
Excellent service and menu selections were explained or recommended. Prompt table service for refills and any needed items.
Went for brunch and the eggs Benedict were the best!
Enjoyed the charcuterie, miso chicken, and chocolate dessert.
Midtown Griile is such a wonderful place. The food and staff are amazing. The Sunday Bruch is so delicious.
The food was great and very fresh. We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant - great for a date or fun outing.
The service was beyond slow. We waited 14min between turning down a cocktail and being asked if we wanted an appetizer. After we FINISHED our appetizer, we waited about 12min before our dinner order was taken. The most frustrating was the check. It took 15min for someone to come and take the check - when finally my date stood up and handed it to the hostess.
I think we would go back if we could have a different waitress.
Consistently fresh and delicious. Can’t go wrong with Midtown.
Continues to be the best business lunch destination in Raleigh.
Katie S. Is the perfect server-friendly but not familiar; attentive but not intrusive and always pleasant.
The quality of the french fries is improving but still have a way to go-
maybe a 7 out of 10.
Great menu, great service...perfect for an affordable business dinner.
