We have eaten before at Midgley’s for dinner and enjoyed it. My son ate the tomahawk ribeye, and it was quite entertaining. We took out of town friends for lunch, and they were extremely impressed. They have been told that it was extremely pricey. This was not true it was right in line with all the other fine dining establishments. We were seated immediately. We had fantastic service. The food arrived in a very short time and was so beautifully presented It all tasted as good as it looked. Stockton is fortunate enough to have such an outstanding restaurant with an extremely gifted chef. I pray it stays for a long long time. I would recommend it to anyone who truly appreciates delicious food. It is top quality.
Exception service in a relaxed and elegant setting made for a wonderful evening. Enjoyed the scallop risotto and lobster with cocktails and sparkling wine. We knew we had to spend the night in Stockton, and visiting Midgley's made it much more enjoyable.
It took some time get our wine and drinks and we had to wait to reorder a second round but I believe that was do to some confusion since other table order the same drinks. But overall a good experience
Not sure why it’s taken so long to try this place. Probably bc I really don’t care for Ernies and assumed it would be similar. I was incorrect! This place is fabulous. Service was relaxed but still top end. Calamari was super tender and not rubbery. We both had salads. I had muscles and the hubs had a steak. Even the French fries were outstanding. Cocktails on point and wine list was anywhere from super affordable to a bit out of our range. We settled for mid range cab that we knew well. Looking forward to going back for happy hour on the patio when it’s not 100 degrees at 6:30pm. It was a great experience.
We love to eat on the patio and have the Sun-Thurs dinner special. This week it was Caesar Salad, NY Strip Steak and Carmel Cheesecake. $35, a good deal. Nice wine selection and fairly reasonable.
Food is always tasty and fresh. I love the patio.
We went to Midgleys for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. At first, it seemed like everything would be great. We had made a reservation and were seated right on time. The women that were bussing the tables were very nice and brought us water. But, our server didn't come by our table for quite some time. When he finally did, he was rude. We ordered cocktails and wanted to order an appetizer, but he walked away before we could. Then, instead of the cocktails, he brought beer. We tried to get his attention, but he didn't seem interested. When he finally came back, we let him know that we had the wrong drinks, and placed our appetizer order. After getting the correct drinks, he then said "oh, did I already tell you the specials?"
He hadn't. We placed our dinner order, and waited. Our appetizer was really good. Our meals were underseasoned. I ordered the ribeye steak and lobster tail. While it was cooked well, it had no taste. My husband ordered the rack of lamb and noted the same about his meal. Our waiter never stopped by the table again. The other women working refilled our drinks and cleared our plates. He finally came back to ask if we wanted dessert, which we did not, after this experience. We just wanted to pay our tab and get out of there.
I had the mussels and frites. It was nothing special and too salty for my taste. My husband had the salmon which was superb. The seafood pasta was enjoyed by my eldest son, easily could have been made at home. When we dine out, we look for dishes that are something special, not something I can make. There were no specials on this particular Wednesday evening, otherwise I would have ordered something different than the mussels. We probably will not be back for a while until the menu changes.
Shannon was our server! Delightful! Attentive. The ancillary staff were also great. Made sure we had water and bread!!
Service started out slow but once started was great! My husband wanted something from the lunch menu and the cooks Gladly prepared even tho not on the dinner menu. All of our food was outstanding! There was 6 of us; two rounds of drinks each total bill including tip was 500$. Was well worth the price. Excellent!
Amazing service, food awesome overall a great night. Was a little loud (a group of friends enjoying themselves, they were funny).
As a person of color, I found that my husband & I who entered the restaurant @ 6:30 PM where only a couple of people were seated in the actual Dining area, were ushered past ALL of the tables directly to the back of that dining area next to the bathrooms. (That happens a lot ) Not a pleasant dining experience.
Delicious food and great service!
Service was very poor. It made the experience overall not an enjoyable one.
It was my birthday and I ordered the 14 ounce lobster tail for $65. It was served rubbery, chewy, tough and part of it was not cooked. They made me another lobster tail and brought it out three minutes later, and it was lukewarm, not all the way done and the butter serve with it was ice cold. It was so disappointing. I will not be back
It’s kinda pricey but great food, drinks and service. Our table was never full of plates, our drinks were always full and the waitress was very attentive.
We had a nice table outside on a pleasant afternoon. The service was pretty good and we enjoyed the food. The rice under the salmon and prawns was undercooked but other than that, everyone else seemed pleased with their food. We all took home food since the dishes were generous.
Awesome as always, thank you Shannon!
It's a little pricey but so worth it!! My favorite spot for lunch and dinner!!! If I could change anything it would be adding cocktails to the happy hour menu
Atmosphere is awesome, we sat outside during happy hour. We thought the beer and wine were 1/2 off along with the appetizers however apparently we did not read the fine print which states only draft beer. It would have been nice if the server told us that when we ordered bottled beer. The asparagus appetizer was so tough you couldn't eat a few of the spears. The Calamari was totally tasteless. The Sliders were good but even at 1/2 price which was $8 for 2 small sliders it was pricey. Overall the 1/2 price on the appetizers seems to be what the full price should be. I mean...seriously the asparagus spears ended up being almost $1 a spear at 1/2 off. The only good item was the vegan buffalo dish, it was awesome. I doubt I would go back for happy hour. I would return for the daily lunch special in a heartbeat.
It’s always a great experience at Midgley’s. The food is amazing, and the servers always go above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need.
This place is great to have a relaxing dinner with family and friends. I would recommend this place to everyone.
The prices are a little bit up but if you travel to the Bay Area you will Pay more plus gas .
The food was delicious and our server was very attentive and professional. I will definitely be back.
My steak was tender and perfectly cooked. My husband had the oysters and scallops and both were delicious.
The service was a little on the slow side. Our appetizer brought out was the wrong kind of asparagus. Our Medium Rare, Bone-in Tomahawk Ribeye was Rare but tasty. We sent the part closer to the bone back to cook longer. The restaurant was very noisy. We sat inside.
We rarely get to dine out due to the fact that we have small children and came in for our Anniversary because it was highly recommended to us. Sat near a very LOUD group of ladies and could barely hear ourselves talk. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and it took our male server 10 mins to even approach our table and when he did he rudely asked what we wanted to drink like we were completely putting him out. Food was very good but the slow service and not even acknowledging our anniversary was completely rude and my husband and I didn’t feel welcome by any means at your restaurant. We both ate quickly and went else where for another drink and dessert. Wish we had a better experience because I really wanted to like your restaurant.
Absolutely delicious and the ambiance is romantic.
Great place for lunch - white cloth service, express lunch speed and of course, the food was incomparable. I had the lunch special - maybe that is why it was so fast? I will be back.
Always good food here. A little on the pricey side but good. Had the sole which was great with fresh asparagus.
The whole experience was as perfect as it could be, from the hostess to the waitress to the bussperson. Just the right amount of attention. Not overbearing like some restaurants. A good value compared to other fine food establishments. Have not been disappointed yet. Will keep going back.
Midgley’s was okay. Our service was okay. Would recommend serving the veganaise on the side for the cauliflower “Buffalo” wings. Four Spears of grilled asparagus on a plate - well, enough said. The bread was delicious.
Always great food. Perfectly prepared with quality items and served with excellence. Our special occasion go to place! Always a treat!
Love Midgely’s! Nice atmosphere, outside seating available. Great cocktails.
Midgley’s is always our go to special occasion restaurant. It again didn’t disappoint, with a great atmosphere, service and food. We feel it is the best restaurant in Stockton, higher prices, but you get what you pay for as they say, very worth it.
Awesome as always........................
Thank you again Christopher!
The bar is very loud and carries into the dining room.
Shannon is excellent. We couldn’t ask for anyone better! She had a great personality, provided the best service and was overall just the best! The food was also great. We always enjoy having dinner there and have never been disappointed with the food there. Appetizers and entrees are all excellent!
Got there early, bar was lively, dining room quiet, service and food were great
Hostess was great, waitress no so. Bad service, forgetting us for long period of times, forget items we asked for. Bus guy was nice and cleared our plates quickly. Husband had the Lobster that was way under cooked, scallops were rubbery..first time at this spot and the last.. sad to say cause it’s a cute set up and outdoor seating was nice.
