Our experience at Middleton was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the animals and those that provided a great deal of knowledge and history. Our dinner was excellent and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. We were disappointed however when we ordered our wine and shortly after were asked to order. We said we wanted to wait awhile and were told that she would check with the manager as waiting would prevent the next seating. There was no mention again. We were confused because there were tables available and a large party was there for at least two hours. We also had arrived early for our reservation. We have never experienced this before. We have been to the restaurant before and do not wish to have this color our opinion. It also did not appear that anyone was waiting.
Thank you

Had a large party (7, which later became 9) The food was excellent and served beautifully. The waitstaff was outstanding, we were celebrating two birthdays and they accommodated two surprise guests and our brought-in birthday cake!

We stayed at the Inn and walked over for dinner. Quite an adventure. Pretty room. Unable to see the lovely grounds as it was dark. Thouroghly enjoyed she crab soup. Cobbled together a couple of apps and a dissapointing first-barrel fish. Went back for lunch the next day. We could see. The grounds! And enjoyed shrimp and grits and quail. All very reasonably priced

Amazing! I had the Panzanella salad that had some of the best flavors ever! Also the shrimp and grits and the hanger steak were incredible! Great service and cool atmosphere! Loved eating dinner on the plantation.

This was our second trip here and the dinner presented well, but mine was inedible. The first time here I had ordered the short ribs and my wife ordered the duck meatballs which were very dry and my short ribs came with burnt potatoes. This time my wife ordered the flank steak which was ok, the sauce seemed to drown out the flavor. I went with the Southern Fried Chicken which was so salty that it was inedible. The waitress asked my wife how her's was and politely said it was good. The waitress saw my plate, uneaten and didn't ask. Guess she knew better. This is a nice cozy restaurant as we stayed at the Inn at Middleton place, but I would surely bring my own dinner or go somewhere else for a bite.

Everything was awesome. From the appetizers to the dessert. And the shrub drink was excellent. Would be remiss if we didn't mention our server, Miranda. She did a great job and really helped us with making our selections. Highly recommend Middleton Plantation.

Being visitors to Charleston, we decided to do a nice meal, and our Saturday evening at Middleton place was perfect. We arrived early to our reservation, and had time to walk around the grounds, which were quiet and beautiful as the sun set. We had the place to ourselves and the pink skies made for some incredible pictures around the gardens. Then we went inside for our meal, and it moved had a very relaxed, unhurried pace. We enjoyed the she crab soup, and then each of our party of five ordered something different off the menu, and everyone loved their dish. Shrimp and grits, pork flank steak, hanger steak, duck meatball linguine, fried chicken - each was delicious.

It's a nice, historic setting and the service was okay but the food was disappointing. The entree was so salty as to almost be inedible.

We started out at the bar waiting for our table. Jessica our bartender was simply just wonderful. The dinner was disappointing, my soup came out cold and had to send it back. My wife's salad was comprised of mostly croutons and was inedible. My short ribs was tastey and cooked perfectly, but it came with burnt potatoes. My wife's duck meatballs was overcooked and dry and couldn't eat it. Very disappointing

We dined here for our tenth wedding anniversary! We had a very attentive and knowledgeable server. Our small children came with us and they enjoyed chicken tenders! That is not on their menu but I like how they are equipped for kids if need be! We appreciated the complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate our marriage. The view was perfect and our stroll back to our room at The Inn was lovely. Especially since we needed to walk off our scrumptious dinner! Thank you for a yummy and wonderful experience!

We went for our 17 year anniversary. The restaurant was very loud, which made it difficult to have a conversion. The shecrap soup and crab cakes were very good but the hanger steak was not very good. Overall I was disappointed. I should have went elswere but I just look at it as $120 lesson. If you are going out to eat for a special occasion, I would skip Middleton.

My husband and I were in the area for a wedding over the holiday weekend, but planned a stay at the Inn at Middleton Place to celebrate our 30th anniversary. As former chefs (and current foodies) as well as previous residents of the Charleston area, we were very pleasantly surprised with the caliber of our dinner/ dining experience at Middleton Place restaurant. The food, from the she-crab soup to appetizers (including perfectly poached duck eggs) to local shrimp and grits & sorghum-glazed pork flank steak, were well-executed (save for a special entrée with a touch too much salt). Our server/waitress (Jordan) could not have been more professional, personable or helpful. Their nod to Edna Lewis was well done. We would definitely recommend and look forward to dining there again when next in Charleston.

Have eaten at Middleton several times and find the atmosphere, food and service to be consistently very good to outstanding. It's out of the way but worth the drive. I usually go on special occasions or for a romantic dinner. A stroll around the plantation grounds before or after dinner adds to the feeling of a special evening.

We like going to Middleton because it is an oasis away from home, even though it is only a few miles away from West Ashley, out route 61. The food is very good, the fish selection is always fresh. The service is great. The prices are reasonable for fine dining, and we can enjoxy a conversation with our friends.

I was disappointed with the Bone in Tenderloin. It was not evenly cooked to medium and had some char on it. The char taste overwhelmed the rest of the dish.

My wife had the southern fried chicken which was quite nice.

The best thing about the experience was the opportunity to explore the gardens before we were seated.

Long time members of Middleton Place and we stay at the Inn a couple of times a year and always look forward to dinner at the restaurant. However they have a new chef and he is trying to add a Mediterranean flare to the menu and found it very hard to find something that we wanted to go back for. The steak was the chefs cut and it was overly salted. The mushrooms were tasty with the marinade BUT they were served cold (on purpose) so was off putting? Miss the old chef from two years ago who knew how to elevate lowcountry Fare!

My wife's duck sausage was way too salty, but my grouper was outstanding.
Kitchen must have had a problem, it took 1/2 hour for our entrees. The appetizers were comped to attune for it.

It's a great spot though and we'll be back.

The food that we were able to get was great. The pan seared scallops were amazing! Due to an unfortunate incident in the kitchen, the restaurant closed early and we weren't able to get our desert but the staff handled the situation very well. They apologized for the inconvenience and did everything they could to satisfy their unsatisfied customers. I highly recommend this restaurant...
