View Private Dining DetailsHad a lovely night at Middleton Place restaurant. The cocktails were very good and so were the appetizers and bread. The entrees were tasty but several were very salty. Would recommend less salt please.
Always a pleasure to be in these beautiful surroundings enjoying excellent dining.
Decades of outstanding service and food have not wavered.
Middleton Place is special. Incredible Live Oaks, history, gardens, and location are a backdrop for the restaurant which is quite attractive with beautiful views and good food.
Over priced, long wait time with reservation, steak (butcher's cut) was tuff.
I would not recommend this restaurant! The Hostess was rude upon our arrival which set a bad tone for the evening. The waiter tried hard but his description of menu items was clearly clueless. The food , when delivered, was terrible...overly salted and cold. The crabmeat tasted like it had been in the freezer for weeks and given the puddle of water it was served in, most recently defrosted. It was truly shameful to serve such bad food and have such poor service in such a beautiful setting.
Superb food, everything was terrific, the she crab soup out of his world. Great service and wonderful environment. Not to be missed!
We had dinner with friends from Boston. Lady waiting on our table was outstanding with good knowledge of the menu. My only complaint was the fact I though the Duck Confit was a bit too salty. Not sure if this was normal or an oversite when cooking. Tasted wonderful but too salty.
Friends from Boston loved the venue, the scenery and the history behind Middleton Place.
What a great place!!! We absolutely LOVE it. Last year we first went there because we were staying at the Middleton Place Inn. This year we made it a point to go because of our first experience and we wanted to make sure our Anniversary dinner would be wonderful. We enjoyed it so much again that we went two days later for another dinner before we left Charleston. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful fine dining experience. The place beautiful, the staff awesome, the wine delicious and the food..... OHH.. MY... GOODNESS. Just amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary trip one to remember.
Always worth the drive from Folly Beach, Middleton Place Restaurant is a treasure. The wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive. The menu is seasonal and offers something for everyone. Be sure to try the fresh seafood entree, no matter what it is, because it will be exceptional.
Great service, nice selection of upscaled traditional dishes. Our guests from Quebec enjoyed the pre-dinner garden stroll, too.
It was a perfect day with a perfect meal. The food and service are very good. It is also nice to get a chance to walk in the garden. The environment is amazing!
I don't know what has changed but this time the restaurant at Middleton was absolutely perfect.
Food was outstanding. I loved the Pickled Shrimp with shaved vegetables and the baby kale salad with corn and toasted pecans in a creamy dressing. The Rose' that was suggested by our waiter was wonderful. The music, a mixture including softer Sinatra and Billy Holliday was perfect. Candles on the table, fresh flowers and a starched and ironed tablecloth and our view of the beautiful Middleton Gardens made it even more perfect.
Beautiful setting with nice food.
We ate dinner here twice while staying at The Inn at Middleton Place. Both times food was very good. Menu is not huge but we found enough that we liked. A nice bonus is that there is no tax because it is a non profit. First time service was good, second time we got forgotten a bit and had to wait for the dessert menu. Wait staff seem a bit inexperienced but very nice.
Try going here monthly, this visit was excellent like all visits, however the shrimp and grits was fanominal..That’s why I’m taking time to review!!!! Stayed at the Inn also wonderful!!!!
Enjoyed....however, the
Fish /food portion unusually small?
Great service by waitress & sa.
Food and atmosphere were amazing. We love this place and enjoy walking the grounds of the plantation before dinner.
Although have been to Middleton twice before (for midday and special dinner, respectively), with lovely meals and attentive service, this time represented neither of those. Our waittress was young, inexperienced, not knowledgeable about the menu, and abrupt. Seafood (Mkt price) was to be replaced by scallops, and I ordered this, and then was advised that they did have one (1) more available sea bass left. Bad choice. It was overdone, braised in a VERY salty kale kimchi reduction of macerated veggies and was difficult to eat. My two (2) dinner partners enjoyed their fried chicken, however. My two (2) cups of decaf coffee post meal (even the 2d "freshly brewed" cup were barely lukewarm, and had grounds in the bottom of my mug. It is a lovely setting, the azaleas and the gardens were in full bloom, and thus the evening was not all lost. We are members there, and will still frequent, but the meal that night left me disappointed.
Late March is the PERFECT time of the year to go here! You must arrive before dark to appreciate all the beauty. The setting is on a small lake and the hillside across from the restaurant is covered in azaleas, dogwood, and more! The restaurant is in an old building adjacent to the mansion and has a cabin feel to it. We were seated immediately(we did have a reservation) and offered water. The food was outstanding and lower priced than I expected, especially for the quality. The service was also very good. Michael was our server and he was pleasant and personable, but not “in our face”. We have lived in the area for 27 years and this was our first time here. It will definitely not be our last!
The view is gorgeous , overlooking the hill, lake, bridge, and gardens. Good service. We both had the filet mignon which was outstanding. The dessert was a little disappointing. We had the apple torte which was too sweet and dry, it needed ice cream. The coffee was exceptional. The overall experience was lovely.
Celebrated wife's birthday with her sister. First time at this restaurant for dinner. Nice views of gardens before dark. Started with a very nice cup of she crab soup with some heat (paprika?). For entrees ordered Pork cheek ravioli, Leg of Duck confit, and Fried NC chicken with Tyme-honey. All were excellent. Dessert was southern pecan pie a la mode. The only negative was the hour long wait for our food to arrive.
Great place to eat. Food was local and prepared just right.
We were staying at the Inn. Very nice restaurant, great food, excellent server, Sarah.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. The walk from the Middleton Place Inn was lovely. The restaurant was not busy when when got there but my husband and I were wedged into a small table in the far corner practically on top of the couple next to us. The scallop appetizer was delicious; my husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits; I had the duck meat balls with homemade linguini which I did not like, probably not a good choice on my part. The service was friendly.
Very enjoyable dinner as an ending to a great day visiting Middleton Place and the gardens. Recommended for anyone who is in the area and also certainly worth a special trip.
Fantastic as always
Many lunch patrons had to wait 40 minutes at the Middleton Restaurant. We walked to the Middleton Lake House which was a short walk away and there was no one there. Great food. The staff should let the patrons know about the Lake House. Odaysha and Ocelia serving at the Lake House were our favorites.
Very good atmosphere!
We enjoyed the dinner, the selection was a little limited but the food was cook very well. I would go back.
I was staying the Middleton Place Inn with a friend. Made last minute reservations at restaurant. Walk from Inn to restaurant along river is incredible. Dinner was simply amazing. Wait staff were most gracious. Highly recommend!
The service was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing!
Lovely restaurant set in a most wonderful venue, good food, good service, fair prices.
I enjoyed the fish stew with tile fish but thought zucchini would have been a great addition with some more seasoning. My husband had the short riibs they were very good
Great good, great service and overall great experience!
Did the tour in the afternoon and decided to stay and eat at the restuarant. It was beautiful. We sat by the window. Meal was excellent shrimp and grits for me. Pork for husband. Very nice staff. It was all good. Best she crab soup and beet salad also!
Middleton Place Restaurant is a hidden gem in Charleston. It’s our go-to spot for celebrating special occasions or when we just want a delicious meal that never disappoints. The food is incredible and having access to wander the grounds before dinner is a bonus.
One of my favorites! Intimate, beautiful, yet unpretentious. Enjoyed a delicious celebratory dinner with family.
I was looking forward to having the hanger steak, it was not on the menu. The server suggested the fillet instead, all I can say is the fillet is better than the hanger! My wife ordered the market fish (Tile fish), she was very pleased. We shared the peppermint chocolate creme brule, very amazing!
Very nice. Waiter was excellent. Food was very good. Looks good for a group!
Wonderful place to go for a special occasion. They have a seasonal menu, I had the lobster lasagna and it was fantastic!
