Food and service were excellent. Would recommend for any occasion.
Food was just mediocre and for overpriced, but it is Hawaii so perhaps should’ve expected it. Go somewhere else for a special occasion. Not worth the money.
The food was outstanding and the view at sunset was incredible!
Frank, our server was awesome and attended to our every need.
Celebrated our birthdays at Michels again. As usual, excellent food and service at the perfect beachside location. Chef Hardy and GM Philip welcomed us personally (once again). Our waiter remembered us from last time and alerted Chef Hardy that his friends where dining there again. So nice to be treated like a welcome friend and not just a customer. We even ordered a couple of items no longer on the menu (potato crusted opakapaka and abalone appetizer), but with prior request, they were happy to oblige.
We came in for a Saturdate and everything went well
Service was perfect!
Food was very good and as we expect when we eat here
Mahalo to Chef Hardy, Phillipe and the Team
Throw back vibe. Our favorite restaurant in the world. Gorgeous meals you can't get anywhere else, like tableside made Ceasar Salad, flambayed Steak Diane, and Cherries Jubilee. Fine dining, fine service, with white tablecloths and open air candle lit ambiance on the beach. It doesn't get any better than Michel's.
very good restaurant. view is fantastic. server is very kind. food is very delicious.
Travis served us and was very knowledgeable and attentive without being in our face. Everything was lovely and we both commented it was possibly our best meal in a very long time. The only issue was when I ordered a bloody Cesar I got a bloody Mary. We thought we were clear about the clamato juice not not worth complaining about when everything else was perfect.
This is a first-class restaurant which offers up a great selection of choices especially strong in seafood. The service was excellent and whilst this is not an inexpensive place to eat, it is nonetheless good value for money.
Wonderful experience. It was romantic and perfect for my 49th Birthday. Beautiful view and excellent service. My Birthday dessert was absolutely scrumptious!
Amazing food. Excellent service.
First week open after 6 weeks for kitchen renovations, new owners, some of the same servers which is nice . I had the Chefs tasting menu and it didn't disappoint, the wife had a beautiful salad and the Rib Eye steak she loved it. All in all it was a great night out at Michels.
This was our best experience on the island-It was fantastic!
The setting is A++ but the rest of the restaurant is also very good. This is our favorite restaurant in Hawaii
Awesome dinner and Phillip the manger was a class act as always!
Came here for my belated birthday with my boyfriend. It was our second time here for a special occasion. The service is always so outstanding. And the feel of the restaurant is very relaxing. You feel very at ease while enjoying listening to some acoustic note worthy classics being played by the guitarist. The waiter and front of house is always attentive but never over bearing. I’d recommend trying the escargot for an appetizer. It is so delicious! My boyfriend ordered a kiawe smoke infused Manhattan. The presentation was memorable and interactive. We also ordered a lobster bisque, which was prepared table side. It was fun to see it being prepared, not just for us but other guests near us enjoyed watching as well. Ended the night with a marble soufflé with a candle and “happy birthday” printed on chocolate. Made me feel so special. Great experience our second time around. We will definitely be coming back :)
We were there on "opening night" after it had been closed for 3 months for a kitchen makeover. We had been there before several times but it looks like they forgot how things work during the 3 months off. Service was disjointed at best. Apparently, things were backing up in the kitchen but the wait staff did not say a thing to us about the delays for every course. At one point, about an hour or so after we sat down, I looked out at about 8 tables and none of them had any food whatsoever on them. These were tables of from 2 to 10 people who had arrived before us. The manager, the only guy in a nice suit, was reduced to bussing tables. It would have been nice if he went to his guests and explained (or apologized) for the delays and disjointed service. After an hour of no first course (salad), we finally flagged down a busboy to ask for bread and butter, which had never been served or offered.
The food was not hot and barely warm at that. I had the Beef Filet with 1/2 lobster Neuberg, which clearly must have been sitting in the kitchen too long before it was brought to the table. My other guests at the table had the Steak Diane that sat on the table-side finishing table for 5 minutes before a different waiter other than our own took it upon himself to fire up the skillet and finish it off, most likely after overhearing us wondering aloud where our waiter was. Bravo for his initiative!
All told, it took the three of us 3 hours to complete our dinner, which did not include coffee/tea and did include souffles that were ordered at the start of the meal for two of us. The third person was never asked what she wanted for dessert. We should have leisurely completed the meal in 2 hours.
Assuming we can chalk all this up to opening night problems, here's hoping Michel's will return to its former glory of a nice, high-quality food and service establishment. Until then, there are far better places to spend this kind of money with just as good a view of the sea.
It is a nice place however there were some major hiccups. The first was that the ceiling was leaking. We were moved but no other consideration. The food took awhile to come out and there were no apologies. We didn’t get bread at first. My husband asked for some and they gave him a burnt roll. It was our anniversary and the money didn’t matter however for the experience we had it was too expensive.
I love your restaurant. I have been 5 times and I have never been able to have a window seat. T
It wasn't really busy but the service was really slow. I saw a table leave cause the wait was too long. The food was mediocre. I have dined there in the past and the food was amazing. This time nothing really stood out. Very disappointed.
This occasion was the first Valentines Day since moving to Oahu, and Michels was the best recommendation ever! Fine food, satisfying drink, and skilled musical entertainment made for an unparalleled experience.
The ambience and food wee excellent. Service was a bit rushed at first but when we asked for time it slowed an appropriate pace
All was wonderful and will have great memories... :)
It is always a pleasure to dine at Michels! Our table had the best view of Waikiki ‼️ The food and service was incredible‼️
This was for my wife’s 60th birthday. The service was fantastic and the food was very good.
I was disappointed. My family (5 total) had gone to Michel's in December, and although the dinner took a long time, I felt taken care of and the quality of food was high. This time there were only 3 of us, and I felt that little care was given to us or our food. Although initial drinks were promptly brought, everything else lagged. This restaurant has several table side prepared dishes, including appetizers, entrees and desserts. A very long time elapsed between ordering, and them bringing out our appetizers, which included a table side preparation of lobster bisque. As our waiter was wheeling over our appetizers, another table was wheeled over from a different direction and included our entrees. For entrees we had ordered a seafood dish, plus 2 wagyu beef dishes, and I just KNEW they weren't going to refire them, and unfortunately I was right. The appetizers were good, but when I came back from the restroom our entrees were on the table, and they looked sad. For entrees that cost nearly $60 each, it really was unacceptable, but we had already been there for 2 hours, and didn't want to wait anymore, so we didn't complain. The wagyu actually held up pretty well and was still tender and delicious. My seafood entree was pretty horrible. I actually spit parts of it out. Then we were excited for the table side cherries jubilee which was our favorite from December's dinner. And it was amazing. Truly beautiful the way they make it. But it took nearly 1 hour from the conclusion of our entree to get to the dessert.
Hawaii trip/Anniversary dinner. Amazing establishment. Great service for our server and everyone in the restaurant. Loved the food and the advice given from the menu for being our first time. Thank you guys so much! We are still smiling!
Wonderful ambience and the service was spectacular! The dishes we ordered were prepared table side, which is hard to find done in restaurants anymore. Wonderful menu items, superbly prepared. Even with multiple large groups in the restaurant, the staff made you feel like you were the most important and the service didn’t suffer at all. Highly recommend!
Very nice semi formal restaurant with long time reputation for quality in Honolulu. Very accommodating staff and excellent food and service.
We use this restaurant for our honeymoon dinner. Omar shrimp soup was awesome!
Exquisite setting with delicious food-many items prepared at your table. Our server was exceptional-very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to us.
Our reservation was made two months ago through open table. I ask for a window which we got. It was my wife’s birthday and I ask for them to make it special. No acknowledgment at all. Service was just ok. We have to this restaurant 4 other times and was delighted. Food was subpar. I was really disappointed.
Food was good but the really hostess ruined the evening for us. If you think those people aren't crucial to the customers experience, its a big mistake. We had an open table reservation at for 5:30pm and there wasn't ANYONE in the restaurant and she sat us right behind a plant behind the hostess stand! I was shocked because we were the farthest from the window that you can get... I asked to be moved and she was clearly annoyed and just said "no" and sat us down. I imagine she could have said we have other reservations but I'm not sure why someone gets the window or near the window and others don't... that's why I made the reservation so early ...I can see walking in without a reservation and being seated here but again we had an open table reservation.
Shortly after sitting down two things happened: a local came in and was seated next to the wall near us - she leaned over and asked if we had been there before and we said no and she insisted that we switch tables with her because her view was so good. My husband refused but he thanked her politely. She the insisted that I at least come see her view because it was so nice... which I did, and then I got madder (if that was possible) - still no waiter at this point... then another couple comes in and is seated one table away from the window - they asked if they could move to the window and they were moved to he window... REALLY?? My husband suggested we leave at this point because I was so mad. Our waiter arrived and he really helped turn the evening around. He was super accommodating - our only issue was we ordered the escargot and it never came. We ordered a bottle of wine and our dinner. I ordered the lobster bisque which was wonderful and large chucks of lobster. my husband ordered the Caesar salad and really enjoyed it. For the main course I ordered the fish special and my husband ordered beef short ribs. The evening ended nicely with Hawaiian Apple-banana flambé done table side by our wonderful waiter.
It was a wonderful experience. The view of the ocean and sunset was very romantic and mesmerizing. We were seated right away at a table for four. This was ideal as it was only the two of us. The staff were very friendly and engaging all the while allowing us to dine in peace. Food was exceptional. We had the ocean bounty and the 12 ounce New York blue rare. Excellent. We had a memorable experience. Will definitely go back again.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. A great meal all around!
