Michelangelo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Authentic Italian cuisine. Outstanding service. Warm and welcoming staff. Capellini alla Checca with chicken is AMAZING, best pasta dish in town. GREAT pizza, especially pesto and mushroom. Great for a date, family dinner, drink with a friend, we love this place
A very charming, hip yet cozy, Italian restaurant in Silverlake. The decor is homey without being stodgy or dated, and the vibe is intimate. Great selection of pasta dishes and other mains. The tomato soup was perfectly seasoned and flavorful and the Penne Arrabbiata was spicy heaven. Very attentive service also make for a great experience.
Very much a middle of the road dining experience. Not bad by any means but nothing special either especially at this price point. In addition to that, when we rec the bill an extra $3 was snuck in for extra pizza sauce without informing us ahead of time. Now $3 isn't much and after paying the bill I mentioned to the waiter that going forward he should inform customers of additional charges so there are no surprises. His response was you should know it's extra. Anyway, it's a coin flip if you're desperate for Italian and cannot venture too far.
The "Michelangelo family"has been in the Silverlake district for many years. It started at the South End of the reservoir and I was thrilled when they moved to Rowena. It's a much larger space for them too so good all around. The family-run business is very professional. The children are good restaurateurs and the mother is a wonderful chef. I always enjoy coming here!
They forgot the "special occasion", this for the second time I've dined there, even after confirming the occasion both times. I've received an apology from the restaurant, however no amends. For me it did put a small damper on the overall positive experience. Other than that food and service were excellent.
I made my first visit to Michelangelo's on Friday night, and it won't be my last visit! The service and atmosphere were warm and welcoming. My pasta was homemade and wonderful. I had delicate handcrafted ravioli in a sage butter sauce. Yum! I look forward to trying many other dishes there!
We had an enjoyable evening at Michelangelo's. It was my boyfriends birthday, which I had noted on the open table reservation, but the restaurant didn't seem to know this, so I'm not sure if they read those notes. I had the pasta fagioli soup and the gnocchi with porcini mushrooms sauce-both were very good and the gnocchi was nice and light! They easy accommodated my request for no cheese. My boyfriend had the papparadelle and loved it! Great wine list and friendly efficient service too.
We dined at Michelangelo Ristorante twice within one week...we liked it so much that we returned for another lunch. We were vacationing in Los Angeles, in the Silver Lake neighborhood, and our local friends highly recommended Michelangelo Ristorante. We were not disappointed. If you know Italian cuisine, then you'll enjoy the food at this restaurant. It is family owned and operated. The dishes are very tasty and very authentic. Thank you, Domenica (the mother of all the children who help operate the place), for your wonderful recipes! Jay Creighton
Food was excellent. Service was very good. Ambience: inside looked nice! But weather was good so we opted for the outside patio. The downside is that it's basically on a busy city street. There's a single-lane driveway separating you from the street on one side, and the valet parking lot on the other. Asphalt and noisy. We'll try inside next time.
Service was very disappointed
When we arrived we asked the waiter to split a group of 3 accounts because we was 12 people , to avoid disagreements at the end the manajer very unrespectfully give us us a pen and a calculator and told us that was a lot of work since it was 12 people party
If we want separated bill do it our selfs
We was very disappointed and was very painful with our guests
We will never return to that restaurant
Our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant. Their Pesto, Quattro Formaggi, and Bolognese pizzas are AMAZING. Even the garlic bread is delicious. Great wine list. Incredible pastas: Capellini alla Checca with chicken, Fetuccini Alfredo, and Linquine with Clams are all to die for. Don’t miss out on the Calamari appetizer, it melts in your mouth.
First time here. Good food, nice wine list, and nice setting on the patio. The service was good, but too 'energetic' - they kept asking to take our order, clear dishes (with food still on them), before we were ready. We felt rushed, but we ignored it and had a nice meal.
This place is in our neighborhood and I've been wanting to try it. We went for my girlfriend's birthday and we were not disappointed! Being from Brooklyn, we know authentic Italian food and this did not disappoint! Fried Calamari was tender and delicious, my veal parm was delicious (not on the menu but when I saw they had veal I asked them to make it and they did!).
Pastas were fantastic as well. We really enjoyed it and will definitely go back!
We live in the neighborhood and the first few times we ate there we thought it was just average food with highish prices, however it seems that things have changed! The food was outstanding, I highly recommend the carbonara! The prices also seemed to have dropped and we definitely plan to go back often.
A good Neighborhood Italian restaurant with a fairly classic--read pedestrian--menu. Food was well prepared and service was competent and friendly. The fact that they have a wide variety of standbys including pizza and pastas with an adequate variety of salads and meat and fish entrees means everybody can find something. $15 per bottle corkage--bring a very good bottle or three and your total cost will be equal to or less than ordering something fairly low grade from the wine list. Valet($5) parking is a must in this crowded area.
