This has been one of my neighborhood favorites for years! I am.in live with everything on the menu but my best comfort foodis their eggplant parmesan casserole!!! Even when they don't have it as a special they're always willing turn their appetizer into my guilty pleasure. Their pastas and pizzas are amazing too and the owner Anthony is a gracious host. He hires lovely staff too. Sometimes his family members fill in for Anthony but they don't have his charm and spirit. If you want authentic Italian in a cozy environment, please make this one of your stops!
A friends birthday
Special Kudos to Mary, our server, who remembered throughout the meal who was drinking what; even in passing. We had a party of 8, and Michelangelo Ristorante accommodated us very well. I tasted the porcini risotto and the papardelle, both quite good (a few grains of rice were still hard). I thought the ambiance and value were excellent. They have a rotating list of specials, some of which seem quite interesting, and I would go back to try those.
Beautiful restaurant, very delicious food and great service.
Excellent. A great find for us on the East side of town. What a pleasant surprise!!
(Grade A) The food was generally good. The Bolognese Pizza was awesome, the crust rates a neck of a lot better than it looks. We also ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, the Buffala Burrata (again awesome), the Papardelle alla Dominica was all also good. The Penne Putanesca had too much garlic for me, it overpowered the sauce. The mushroom soup was very bad for me, it was a little too earthy, will definitely not order it again. The desserts, we had the Pana Cotta (A), Ricotta tart (B+) and lastly the Tiramissu (C+).
The service was awesome, the owner even goes around table to table and makes sure to touch base, which is a nice touch.
Laughably bad. Our server was definitely high, the drinks were HILARIOUS (frozen drinks half blended so ice chunks were an impossible size), food was about half as good if I made the same at home, ambiance nothing like the website. We left after one round of drinks and 2 appetizers when our waiter wouldn’t stop asking personal questions and shaming us for keeping the menus he wouldn’t take away on our table.
We've been wanting to stop here for a long time--we drive by several times each week. The food was simply amazing--perfectly prepared and so flavorful--and everything I'd expect in a top notch Italian eatery. Pasta was nicely al-dente and the sauce was bursting with tomato flavors. Wine pours were also good and rather generous, too. We were there on V-day, so it was a bit crowded. But definitely worth it.
This is real Italian. I haven't had food like this since I was in Italy. The bread alone (which they make there) is to die for - you can smell it when a basket goes by your table. The chef specials are great, and I told them they need to bottle and sell the pink vodka sauce. The difference in quality of their food goes above and beyond many so-called Italian places. If you want a meal that tastes like you're eating in Italy at the home of the best chef in town and their family, this is the place to go. Full of flavor, love, dedication to excellence, we will definitely be coming back regularly.
Awesome. Great food, excellent service and great value.
Reliable. Kind service. Warm atmosphere. Accommodating and always good.
Great restaurant and the food was amazing.
One of the best Italian joints in greater LA. Awesome service, perfect pastas, and even better pizzas.
Love this neighborhood gem. Great pizza. Everyone who works there is lovely.
Excellent service, food, and price for authentic Italian cuisine in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. We were thrilled to get a reservation on New Year's Day, as many restaurants were closed.
Food was okay. Service was very good. It was a little over priced. Might come back and try brunch
Great, family-run Italian restaurant in Silverlake. Check it out.
Had our table ready in time which is nice on Christmas! Service was pretty good until our server left for the evening without mentioning that we were going to have a new server for the remainder of our meal. Both the new and original servers were unable to tell my husband the difference between the grappas so he ended up not ordering one. They said the owner was the only one that could and he was busy. I guess that’s how they decided to deal with that but how sad that servers are not trained for wine/beverages yet have a wine menu- and a not a huge one that they couldn’t learn. Apparently food is better now than my husband remembered but not sure we would return due to lack of service.
Went for Christmas Eve and the place was abuzz, festive and friendly. Really enjoyed our meals. Their sauces are flavorful, their pasta extraordinary and their recipes imaginative. Highly recommend.
Wonderful experience! Every person we encountered was friendly and made sure our anniversary dinner was amazing! Everything was made to order with extremely fresh ingredients. Very knowledgeable staff! We can’t wait to go back!
Superb all the w as y s as round, from the cozy heated patio to the wonderful cocktails, to the stellar service and the absolutely delicious food. We’ll be back!
Delicious Italian food from a nice Italian family.
Family run restaurant. Nice atmosphere, good Italian food.
If you want some excellent food, this is the place to go. Been here multiple times and will continue to go back, learned my lesson however, avoid the bar drinks. Last visit had a basil and jalapeno martini, tasted like water with a little basil mixed. A word to the wise, stick to the beer and wine, and you'll have a fantastic evening.
Michaelangelo is a wonderful, neighborhood, family owned and operated restaurant. You are warmly greeted by a member of the family, and then treated as if you are one of them. Food is great, reliable and with variety.
The food was not bad but not amazing, it was disappointing to drive almost an hour from long beach and not be wowed. You cannot call Romain hearts a "bed of greens". My fish was ok but some of the other elements were overcooked, dry and my dates food was a salty. Perhaps we should have gone for pasta dishes. Our service was great and our server was lovely. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and again great service. Overall it was a clean, quiet and welcoming venue but our expectations for the food were much higher than what we actually got served. I do not think a reservation was needed since it was pretty quiet and slow when we arrived.
Great food and very friendly and attentive staff. Can't wait to go back again. Caio!
A wonderful find. Had a very long lunch here with an old friend I hadn't seen in ages - they didn't mind that we sat for almost 4 hours. I have very severe food limitations, and they were able to give me delicious food within those constraints, without my having to send anything back (which I often have to do in other restaurants - chefs just can't stop themselves from adding pepper, garlic, etc.). But the really impressive achievement was how much my friend, a former chef, loved her food and how wonderfully she connected with the owner who waited on us. She absolutely raved about every dish she had. She had a delicious sole dish; she didn't originally order pasta, but when she learned they make their own gnocchi and ravioli, she wanted to try just a few, and he gave her 4 ravioli, which she said were incredibly light and tender. She loved the tiramisu, even though or maybe especially because they make "simple" version unlike the more complex one she is used to making herself. I have rarely heard my friend rave about a meal like she did at Michelangelo's. And finally, the ambience and design is old fashioned, quiet, unlike the latest very noisy trendy places, and we just loved that too.
Always a great food and great service. I look forward to our visits to Michaelangelo. We are always made to feel welcome. It’s a nice neighborhood restaurant at moderate price, but really savory food. Bruschetta is fantastic! Gnocchi is like little cheese pillows....so soft! Fresh fish is always prepared to perfection. We’ll go back again and again....
A lovely dinner and ambience was wonderful!
Good food, heavy on the sauces, wine too expensive for what it is. Nice service. Will be back for for the spaghetti with meatballs, that they got right.
Food great. Service very good. A little too hot inside.
Beautiful restaurant, lovely food. Amazing staff. We came for a family meal before returning to the UK and were not disappointed at all. I strongly recommend this place.
Loved this place! The food is to die for and they make you feel like family.
