Michael's Tasting Room
Nice dinner with friends and family. Food was amazing, we had steak, bacalao, and some desserts of which the three leches is our absolute favorite ❤️
Our experience did not disappoint at all. The food was exceptional. The Tomahawk steak with the truffle fries was the highlight. Also highly recommend the goat cheese cheesecake- very unique & exquisite
Food, service, and ambience is all fantastic! A gem in touristy St. Augustine.
Meeting with a friend
We had a great experience here. We sat outside on the back patio which was lovely. Our food we excellent and our server, Erica, was outstanding.
Great food and service at a reasonable price, in an intimate setting. A gem in the heart of st. Augustine.for foodies and wine lovers alike. As a bonus they have parking!
David took great care of us. Wonderful food. Nice wine list. Amazing Chocolate Torte.
We had an awesome time at dinner. The food was amazing!
The Tasting Room never disappoints. Thank you Michael and staff!
This was one of the best dining experiences ever. Not only was the food amazing, but the entire staff was fantastic. Our night was topped off by the host not only taking our picture, but offering to get some outside as well and seeming truly glad to do it. We will be back!
Excellent service and food!
It was a wonderful meal.
We stumbled across the place after finding it on Open Table. We were VERY impressed. Great food, great service and a very nice dining experience. Would highly recommend.
We have been to Michael before, again they did not dissappoint. Excellent food and service, highly reccommend.
Only critique was both steaks over seasoned.
The food was outstanding. Our Server, Joel, was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable about the wine list, and quite gregarious. Extremely easygoing and worked very hard for us. We will be requesting Joel in the future as well! Thanks for a great evening!
Not at all what I was expecting. My husband and I were wanting to try Michael's for months but were waiting for a special occasion. Our anniversary was this past weekend and made a reservation based on many good reviews. Maybe we hit them on a bad night but most everything was a negative. I will admit, I do have certain standards when I am spending $250 or more for dinner for 2 people. I do expect a tablecloth. This may seem petty but there were no tablecloths, just wooden tables and not very comfortable seating. When our waitress approached my stomach actually turned. She was wearing a nice black dress but I could see parts of tattoos everywhere. She also had a gold ring hanging from her nose. Certainly not what I expect at an upper end restaurant. She asked if we had ever eaten there before and we said no. She explained the menu by saying "small plates were on the left and entrees on the right". We came to that conclusion by the headings of appetizers and entrees. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 appetizers - the cast iron shrimp and half a dozen oysters. The shrimp were really good. Large in size with good flavor. Would have loved some bread to dip in the sauce in the skillet but they do not serve bread. The oysters were very bland. I would not recommend.
We ordered entrees based on our waitresses recommendation and another server that we overheard recommend the same thing. My husband ordered the beef short ribs and I ordered the scallops. The short ribs were horrible at best. Tough and flavorless beef with no bone. The scallops were ok. No real flavor. I was excited about the chow chow that the scallops were served over until I actually tasted the vegetables. They were undercooked and again had no seasoning.
We skipped dessert because we were over the entire experience. We quickly paid our bill and headed elsewhere for dessert.
The food is absolutely fantastic for a great price as well!
Great service and food as always. Company in town and they also were very pleased.
Always our favorite place to experience creative, delicious food. Outstanding wine list with a staff that knows wine. Allyson brought us wine flights based on her perception of our tastes and she nailed it. So much more fun to have that interaction than just a waitstaff that tells you the specials takes your order and smiles. Take your time, enjoy the tapas and small plates, savor your wine.
This is a hidden gem in St. Augustine (shhh). The food here is spectacular and a very impressive wine list. My wife and I celebrated our 15 year engagement and were fortunate to have a reservation. We were greeted with a champagne toast (nice touch guys) and then enjoyed a four course meal. This is our second visit in as many years and Michael Lugo and the staff do a fantastic job with their guests. A special shout out goes to Allison who took very good care of my wife and I. We look forward to visiting next year!!!
This place is EXCELLENT!!
Food was not very good and fell far short of expectations given the high cost. Very disappointing because food at the restaurant used to be outstanding. Server was quite good; friendly, very well informed and attentive.
Food and service were excellent! Very attentive and accommodating staff. Judith serving as Hostess/Manager was wonderful; very personable, warm and welcoming. After a beautifully displayed round of apps several of us thoroughly enjoyed the Sword Fish Special.
The only issue at Michael's is that the volume of conversations just swirls around you, but once we were distracted by the meal we were transported.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Excellent wine menu and the entree’s were cooked to perfection. The waitress was very knowledgeable and the entire waitstaff and hostess were very friendly and accommodating.
Highly recommend this place for dinner!
Everything was amazing, the food was amazing. The cheese and meats board were delicious! We had the fresh catch of the day and filet for dinner and cleaned the plates. The service was outstanding, our waiter took care of us and treated us very special (this is how they treat all, but it felt special). The chocolate tort for desert was melt in your mouth amazing.
The service was inadequate. The detail on the menu did not correspond with the food as served. One member of our party had to send his food back and it was still not replaced by the time everyone else completed their meal. We cancelled his order and left the restaurant dissatisfied. The staff was not cooperative or attentive. Very disappointing.
Without a doubt one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had...and we are well traveled. The food was delicious and presentation were incredible. You must try the Iberian charcuterie Board, amazing! We also enjoyed several other tapas including the mushrooms, beet salad, pork rolls and a delicious bottle of wine. We sat out in the courtyard and loved the atmosphere. The service was exceptional. Our server was Summer and she was probably the best server we’ve ever had. Friendly and pointed us in the right direction with what to try. Chef Michael came by the table to ask how our food was...what a fantastic guy and when he saw my husbands glass was empty and mine still full he poured him a special glass to try and so I didn’t have to drink alone. The attention to detail and the warm inviting experience is not to be missed! Truly a special place.
I’ve dined here a few times. Food and service are always excellent!
Excellent service and food. The braised short ribs are outstanding. Parking can be difficult but is still worth the visit.
We were seated by Judith at a perfect table for 4 and Ashley immediately served us drinks while explaining the specials. The swordfish was excellent, the steaks perfect and the homemade gnocchi were a hit. We had a local light craft beer and California wine very pleasing and deserts were outstanding. Ashley explained they had worked with a sound engineer and just finished installing sound panels to absorb the noise which added to the cozy ambience. We will visit again next trip to St. Augustine
The food was incredible, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend Michael’s Tasting Room!
Nice cozy atmosphere excellent service and really good food
Great service and fabulous beat salad and incredible crab cake. Key lime pie was among the best I’ve had.
Joel was a great server. Good recommendations and attentive.
My party was seated almost immediately and I was given free champagne and dessert for my birthday. The food was delicious aside from the small serving in proportion to the price.
Accommodating in adjusting reservations. Best Tuna Poke I’ve ever had and Truffle Fries were the best. Very nice wine selection. Would go back for sure!
Overall great experience
Michaels is a lovely little place, service was excellent, food great BUT the noise level was so high that we were unable to talk across the table. It is such a shame! They need something to disperse the noise.
Always a great dining experience. Judith is a gracious host and the staff is the best in St. Augustine.
